7-5-19 Friday

Had a better than average day yesterday. I mowed a little in the morning before it warmed up. Then went to the store to get things to grill. DD and Adalyn came over. Adalyn had sautéed portabella mushrooms, pears in pear juice and a couple of bites of my bratwurst. She plays so hard and then when she gets tired she crawls up in my lap for screen time. She is allergic to milk product so ice-cream was not even in the house. I gave her some peach fruit popsicle. She loves it. Probably feels good to cutting teeth.

I didn't hear any fireworks and Adalyn did not either because we were both asleep.

Shell, A couple of months after my dad passed, my mom was closing on her house and we need to meet with an estate auction. I was trying to get connection on the internet before we turned in the router. I found a connection labeled Albert13. My dads name and my favorite number which I thought was odd that he would use 13 in a router label. My mom did not know the pass code so I never got access. Funny thing was that when I got ready to get the equipment to turn back into the provider the router box had been unplugged for months.

Shirt, congrats on DH graduation. I was a non traditional student. It took me 5 years to finish a 4 year degree. Before going to college about the only thing I had read was a tape measure. Sounds like he needs a sleep study with the snoring and restless leg. Hope your knees feel better.

Devon, I am amazed at your daily activity level and your workouts.

Diamond D, Really nice to have help when doing deep cleaning.

Cecily, Monarch food is a real problem because we poison our grass fields and highways. I think AR is now using a different spraying method to help. Maybe it was just a single county. Glad your dad and Fergie are doing better.

Liz, On the hazardous waste clean up. You might pick up some nitrile gloves, baby wet wipes and some vicks vapor rub. Put the vicks just inside your nose, the wet wipes and gloves can be tossed and prevents contact.

Diane O, RV Traveling is something that I could do but don't do. If I would do it It would be less anxiety in the long run. I now have a truck that can pull it.

Diane S,Glad to know the sleeve is still working. I frequently eat too fast and fill up past full. That is such an awful feeling. Good luck at the dog showing.

BB, Glad you liked the little stool. I made it as soon as I found out you were going to have her.

Miss150, So glad you had a good time with family in Florida.

More later, David

Lovely to log in this morning and see this warm message from David.

Yesterday we didn't have firm plans, and did as we pleased. Turned out what we wanted to do was catching up on some chores. It felt great, and we are paid off with the satisfaction of things looking much nicer. We followed up with a drive to downtown Minneapolis to view the fireworks show, charmingly named the Big Boom.

Today we are going to get massages and then out to lunch. DH is going out with a friend to see the latest horror movie, Midsommar. Both of us wives are delighted they go to see scary movies together, so we can definitely, definitely skip them. Not my thing.

I really hate horror movies too. DD loves them though!

Slasher movies are awful! But true horror - suspense, evil, mystery, paranormal, and magic - I LOVE! That Midsommer movie actually looks like it might be up my alley! Of course, I'm going to see Aladdin tonight, not Midsommer! LOL!

There is a wonderful breeze this morning. Ron is sleeping late. Lord only knows when he went to bed last night.

I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July celebrations (Shirl, thanks for the celebratory wishes!). I could not have asked for a more relaxing 4th. I didn't even leave the house yesterday. It was nice to simply putter about and then have people come here for dinner.

We had a nice small, family cookout. It was relaxing and the company was enjoyable. My dad seemed to enjoy himself, which is important to me. He's almost 90 and social gatherings are getting a bit harder for him as he gets older. I think he simply doesn't hear as well as he used to. He misses some of the conversation which must be isolating. He is still very active, drives well, and keeps busy. I don't worry about him in general.

I felt good about my eating yesterday. Even though I over did it late nigh****ching Stranger Things 3, episodes 1 & 2. I had a second piece of pound cake, which I did not need before bed (or at all!). I also had more ice cream than I had planned on. I've been keeping to measured portions, but last night I did not. My weight is up a pound today, which kind of irks me. Except for the additional sweets in the evening I had a pretty solid day of good eating.

Other than going to the gym today, my day is looking delightfully free and relaxed. I'm thinking some gardening and a movie sound like fun. We shall see.

Happy Friday to all!

It sounds like the best day. "Relaxing and enjoyable company." I can relate to the hearing loss and missing out of the conversation. I come from a long line of deaf people on my dads side. I have good hearing aids that correct it for now.

LOL! I didn't refresh my screen so I thought I was starting the thread at 2:45 pm. I deleted it and moved my comments here. I love the sweet Adalyn stories!

I have gloves and wipes, but will get some Vick's. I also think I need some diaper rash cream as he sometimes is very soggy in the morning.

I finished power washing the screen room yesterday and planted one of three hydrangeas this morning. I had to stop because I was dripping in sweat.

Yesterday we had a good visit with DD. We swam at the pond and went to a waterfront restaurant for "Linner". This morning DH went off to daycare, DD left around noon and I went out with my two SILs for an appetizer lunch. Food choices were good both days while out, except for the wine. SILs are coming for grilled chicken and salad tonight, then we are going to an early free concert. Tomorrow we have a BBQ at a friends home. Summer is definitely in full swing here on Cape Cod so tourist avoiding traffic and meal timing strategies have to be followed to avoid frustration.

And it is HOT and MUGGY. The AC is on though I hate feeling shut-in. I'll be out on the porch as soon as it cools down enough.

Have a fabled Friday!

DW has hydrangeas but they were very weak last year. Blooms were tiny. I poured a bag of miracle grow on each plant. No blooms yet but the plant has taken off. The soil here is rocky with a high sand content. I may pour out another bag on them. We mulched them heavy to begin with but the armadillo keep getting into them at night and the chickens will not leave them alone in the daytime. She said we may need another raised bed.

Hydrangeas grow like crazy here but will skip blooming entirely some years. My SIL has one with blooms the size of her head, but mine are more like the size of a large cantaloupe though there are lots of them on most of my plants this year.

Good Morning All, Couldnt sleep so here I am sipping tea - fireplace is going so house should be warmer when DH gets up.

Busy day planned. Im off to choose more plants for front garden - we are hoping to complete the rock wall today and get planting finished. Then we need to collect a steel hay ring for farm. I picked up at a very reasonable price. Will be handy. DH has a blood test and is collecting a gift for my goddaughters little girl who turns 3 today. No rain predicted so fingers crossed we get a good run at the garden - im itching to see it finished.

David - thank you for your congrats. Hes done very well. Re Snoring he is finally seeing his Doctor Monday night - I know there is a medication that can assist with restless legs - we have tried magnesium and a herbal supp which havent worked so time for the big guns. I imagine they will call for a sleep study. Hardest part was getting him to commit to addressing it. Love hearing about Adalyn :)

DD- Glad you are getting some things ticked off the list - its a great feeling isnt it :)

Peps - Sounds like you had a lovely relaxing family day - special times :)

Liz- Glad you had a good visit with DD and enjoy your night with SIL's :)

Hello to all that follow - I hope you all enjoyed your 4th celebrations. Nice to see pics on facebook last night

I best get my butt moving and a second cup of tea is in order
