Good morning! Not much planned today except some house cleaning (dear son is enlisted to help), and dinner with my husband's sister this evening. This is the first time we will be together since their older sister passed away. They text daily with each other, but I think just being with each other will be comforting too.

The sun is trying so hard to break through, but the fog keeps rolling in and out. We did manage a boat ride this morning in a moment of clearing. Ferg is having an off day - always makes me worry. My dad's cataract surgery went fine, but he has blood in his eye and can't see out of it yet, but should soon. I didn't know that was a thing!
What is everyone planning for the 4th of July (Shirl, you can play too. I'm imagining it doesn't involve barbecues and fireworks)?
My dad's wife has a very long standing party (66 years!) with a few other families up here, but I don't really like a good portion of them (rare for me, but there it is). And the food is crappy. But if I stay home, that's being anti-social. I may take my own car and sneak out early and watch the fireworks from inside our house with no mosquitoes. We have a better view of them anyway.
We don't have much of a 4th of July tradition. For a lot of years, we went to whatever parade our son was marching in with his high school band. Usually something is going on "up north" with my family, and sometimes we do that. Skipping it this year. My husband has been working a lot, so a day or two at home sounds perfect. Maybe we'll go to some fireworks. You definitely should drive your own car so you can be the captain of your own destiny, stay if you're having a good t, leave if you're not. How does Ferg deal with fireworks? Our beloved Bella did okay, but she was a true fan of parades, and would have her own lawn chair to sit in. She would actually watch the parade as it went by with keen interest. Miss that dog.
I like your plan! We have nothing specific in mind but youngest DD is supposed to come tomorrow for a couple of days. The weather will be good so maybe hang out at our pond around the corner then have a low-key cookout?

Diamond, what a delightful, simple morning! Kind of like mine was yesterday!
Today I was up and at 'em a bit earlier than I would have liked, but I do what I must to compensate for scheduled changes! I am going to an A's game tonight, which will end in a fireworks display of great magnificence! The only game I go to during the year! LOL! Going to the game means I will miss my training session this evening, so I rescheduled my training for my trainer's only available slot today: 8:30 am. I am not a morning person for exercise. Exercise in the morning is not part of my natural rhythm. But I bit the bullet and did a full lower body work out for a full hour. Following yesterday's super duper chest/ab/arm with cardio workout, I think having tomorrow off is going to be a very good thing!
I am working a program called My Zone. I am becoming addicted to making sure I hit my target points for each workout. They have weekly targets (which are 300 points per week), but MY target is 100+ points per workout. I am over 400 points for this week and it's only Wednesday. YAY ME! LOL!
Ceci, 4th of July plans for me will begin with tonight's baseball game. Tomorrow morning the Rotarians host a pancake breakfast in our little downtown area. It's one of their biggest fund raisers of the year. We go as a family - Ron, my dad, my brother, sometimes his wife, sometimes dad's girlfriend, sometimes my BFF, and me. We meet at 8:30 have a little breakfast and then go our separate ways. Luckily, I'm not big on pancakes. I eat the sausage and nibble on pancakes. I plan on making scrambled eggs to bring with me to eat instead of the pancakes!
This year, though, I decided it would be nice to have everyone over for a little family cookout tomorrow night (as it's called back east), so I planned that, too. We will stay home in the evening so I can dose Keira and Ella with CBD oil prior to the noise bombs, so they can be relaxed during the firestorm of explosions. It really does such a nice job relieving their anxiety, unlike some sedative that don't relieve their anxiety, but make it impossible for them to react. I think that would be even worse. It would be for me anyhow.
Trainer put off weighing for this wee****il Friday. I think she is hoping this tactic on her part will keep me focused on healthy eating on the 4th. Hmmmm..... not too sure about that, but I will certainly do my best not piggy it up!
Miss reading Ann's dailies. I hope she's back soon, but enjoying her travels and visits with friends. Bonnie Miss150 has been MIA for a while, too, but I did hear from her last week. Hope she's doing well. I know Shel is dealing with her embolism issue, so I'm sending healing thoughts her way.
We really have such a lovely "family" here on this board. I am very appreciative of you all and grateful to be part of such a nice group of supportive friends.
Haha, piggy it up, I like that, can I borrow it? Very politically incorrect, so sorry if I offend, but when my daughter would fly home from college on Spirit airline, she would wear multiple, unnecessary layers of clothes so she could make due with just the under the seat bag and avoid the carry on charge. We referred to it as Ann Franking it up.
I agree so much about our supportive family here, and I miss folks when they're not posting. Hope they are having exciting adventures and safe travels or in Shel's case receiving our healing intentions.
Good Morning All - Been up since 4.30am as I got up to bake Scones for DH to take into work to celebrate him finishing his Bachelor Degree. Its been 4 challenging years for both of us as he completed it whilst initially still being enlisted and the later years working full time with travel in the commercial sector. I am very very proud of him.
We are waiting confirmation of his Graduation Date but we are pretty sure its the 31st August. It will be in Armidale NSW which is close to a 14 hour drive away so the current thought is we fly to Coffs Harbour and then drive the 3 hours to there on the morning he graduates. Know that fella Murphy? Well he has a funny sense of humour..... Both DH and I leave to come to the states (staying in a hotel at airport the night before as 6am flight) on 2nd September after work. The graduation being scheduled for 31st August means we will be flying around 5pm 30th Aug - arrive close to 9pm. Then Saturday Graduation then drive back to Coffs Harbour - hoping to be able to take him out for a nice meal then Sunday a quick explore then fly home (1st Sept) after lunch as we have a ton of stuff to get done at the city house. Whats that saying EVERYTHING at once - ha ha ha - Busy times ahead. I am scheduling time to get farm organised and also city house - plus sorting out mums place as well - we are travelling for a month so lots to do - then there is all the work stuff as my boss isnt bringing in someone to cover my role this time. Im stressing hugely as to the mess and workload I will come back too but have no say in it.
Bad nights sleep with DH snoring and Restless legs - ended up being a tense night as I got up to move to the spare room after 2 hours of laying there awake listening to it.... DH ended up moving after getting angry at me. UGGGG - I always try to find a positive and that is he is FINALLY going to see our Doctor about what can be done. I question why it took the episode last night to bring it all to a head but I will take it
Busy day at work - Im about to start (5.30am) as Im leaving at 2.30 to see Orth Surgeon - having a cortizone injection in my knee - hoping it gives me some relief and makes walking etc a lot more comfortable. Crossing Fingers
No weight today - Im running on an hours sleep but will face the music tommorrow morning now Im back at the city house - it will be gain as I have been eating badly
DD - Your day sounds lovely and relaxing - well the porch bit - not the cleaning but hope it brings a sense of achievement
Cec - Big hugs to Ferg - hope he feels better soon. And also to your Dad - healing vibes coming. We dont celebrate 4th July - Unless you could call the "fireworks" at midnight from my DH note worthy!
Hello to all that follow - I hope you all have a great day/evening
Not sure what my "fun" will be today. I went to bed with a sore throat - so maybe a super early night to play catch up
S
Oh oops - Wishing you all a Happy 4th July too :) Enjoy the festivities x
I'm so excited for your DH! I finished high school, bachelors degree and masters degree at night so I KNOW how hard it is and how much it means. Give him a big congratulations from your online friend!
