The sun is out so I think a longer beach day than yesterday is in the cards. I should start power washing but I'd rather do that on an iffy day (I think there will be several this week).

I would like to sit longer in my sunroom with Justice, but I need to get to the food store to pick up a few things before DS leaves for work. It is difficult to type with a dogs head in the crook of one's arm...

Have a Sunny Sunday!

Good morning! Clouds are back today and rain tonight. It was nice while it lasted! Aside from mulching yesterday, I finished cleaning out the dead branches from 10 butterfly bushes. Whew. If they wren't so pretty and brought in thousands of butterflies over the summer, I'd yank them out. They're a lot of work. The other bonus is the deer leave them alone.

Not sure what I'm doing today. I'll figure it out!

Good morning!

It looks overcast which is aok. Hope you are all having a good start to the day.

DD isn't overweight, but wants to drop a few pounds and is working on a meal plan for a week. She took a sports nutrition class last quarter that used a text written by a respected dietitian which gave her a different perspective about food/nutrition than she had been getting from her internet influencers.

Last night she cooked up a steel cut oats/chia seeds/quinoa porridge to have in the fridge for multiple mornings. It had a touch of honey in it. Just before eating, add sliced almonds, strawberries and coconut chips. Thumbs up from me! She liked it, too. I was afraid this would be something that was made, but never eaten.

On the docket for today: hair color and a bit of shopping for myself. I also need to start continuing ed series with hopes of finishing in a week. I am thrilled that the series is free, thanks to the government, but bummed that I can't speed up the audio so I get could get it done in 1/2 the time.

DD, have you noticed if your hosts snack/graze through out day? Or do they generally eat at meals and then put the food away? I think it is very interesting how your sleeve became so high functioning so quickly.

Hugs to all!

Shel

Very little snacking. Breakfast is late, more like brunch. The big meal is lunch at 3pm or so, with a light meal/snack around 8pm. I think it is the density/wholeness of the food. I had a chorizo taco at the market for breakfast. I watched them make the corn tortilla from their homemade dough. It wasn't a big taco at all, but after 2 or 3 bites I was full. I feel like if it was a flour tortilla from the super market at home, I would eat more. It's so weird how tight my sleeve feels.

Greetings All

158 today. Not cool. Its sunny and cool here but our deck is a hot spot. Deck guy is out there replacing damaged screws. I am making it my mission to keep him hydrated.

Cecily, those butterfly bushes can really take over. Out here there is a nasty plant list of invasive plants that choke out the natives. Butterfly bush is on the suspect list. Other stuff on it is pampas grass, various ivy, vinca and such. One can really see the impact of the nasty Scotch Broom and the pampas grass. Years ago I planted two tiny native woodland strawberries. They have taken over the front yard which is ok. Who needs a front yard.

Have to spend a bit of time in the studio today but not much else planned. Trying to find the enthusiasm to work on tossing papers. I did get Chip out on a walk since the backyard is off limits right now.

I craved veggies last night and ate a bowl of baby broccoli. With cheese. Great dinner with 3 shrimp. Thats about it. Coffee is long gone. Time to get moving.

Let's not even talk about bamboo. It got into the back of our yard from our neighbors (who got it from their neighbors ). You can almost see it grow and spread.

These haven't spread yet, but they get so unruly! There were already 5 dwarf butterfly bushes (less than a foot tall, very manageable) in the bed and there were supposed to be 10 more, but they ran out. When they got us more they swore they were more dwarfs, but these 10 are no dwarfs. They get about 6 ft tall. We cut them back in early spring, but you don't know what branches have died off over the winter until it starts growing back. There was a lot of dead stuff as there were way more below zero days than normal this year. We ought to replace them, but the monarch show is something to see, so I've left them. Plus I don't know how we'd ever get them out!

Hi all,

A pictorial will be easier than a narrative. Was a fun and much needed weekend.

This is the pond on at the rest area (thus the few pieces of garbage).

These two photos were taken by the side of the road while heading east. We were just coming up to Donnor Pass (yes, of Donnor Party infamy).

A pic of Ron and me with a bit of left over snow behind us.

The purpose of our trip was for my niece's wedding. Here she is with her groom after the ceremony. It was a wonderfully casual wedding, outdoors, rustic in a town about an hour east of Reno.

Bud's old fashioned fountain in Truckee, CA. Yup, enjoyed every bite of my caramel sundae. Not gonna lie!

My brother and niece during the father daughter dance.

While we were in Truckee doing a little browsing, I came across this hand made leather bag. I have been needing a new one for a while, but am a cheap bugger about utilitarian items. I have various bags saved in my amazon cart, but have never been able to finalize the purchase. This however, is unique. I like the size. It is a good bit smaller than my current bag, too. It spoke to me, so I thought, yup this is the one. I'm sure it was created with a woman in mind, but I don't care. I love it. Too much sharing????
