Good news...the work that needs to be done to my Subaru AC is under warranty. Bad news, my AC is cracked and the parts they need won't be in until Friday, then they need to add fluids and recharge. The dealer is 45 minutes away, so I'll just leave it there until I can pick it up done. Warranty work is a win ! I was able to mow during an afternoon without rain yesterday. It is supposed to rain today through Friday. I usually worry about bugs in my garden...now I'm thinking about mold and saturation rot. Some of the farmers around here were fortunate to get fields fertilized and planted but many others have not been so lucky, many not able to get last year's corn down. So many fields are on rolling hills with low spots that made it impossible to get heavy equipment in. The cow, sheep, pig pens are one messy mud hole. My heart aches for their hardships ! I am replacing the cheap plastic faux tile backsplash behind my RV stove with a tile backsplash. I should finish today, and will take pictures.

What a mess with all the rain in the country this year! It has mostly been raining in Massachusetts since I left and is predicted to rain most of this week. I sure hope it subsides soon so there can be some pleasant weather this summer.

SILs will be up soon to pack and I will drive them to the airport in a few hours. It has been a great visit but I think they are ready to get back. It will feel quiet here for the next few days until I leave.

Have a thoughtful Tuesday!

Yes, the rain has ruined so much this year. As you said, many farmers are still unable to plant this year.

Am enjoying so much my visit with my stepdaughter. Tonight we're going to a Trivia Night with friends at her local jazz club/bar. Today we'll walk the dogs, shop, and yak-yak-yak.

She eats quite low-carb, which works for me, and this is a sugar-free zone. :) Last night she broiled salmon steaks and made a Caesar salad. Instead of croutons she used some parmesan crisps ("Whisps") that were delish. Slept well, but not quite enough. Will catch up eventually.

Had an excellent session with my therapist yesterday morning. For the last week I've struggled with my bereavement. I'm really missing my husband. So many layers of this to go through. My current assignment from the therapist is not to DO anything about it, but just to be present and not fight what rolls in.

Keanu's answer to Stephen Colbert (who asked him a few weeks ago on "What do you think happens when we die?") is still reverberating for me. If you haven't seen that yet, go here.

Love to all.

Diane O.-sorry about car troubles. So frustrating, especially when it's a jaunt to dealership.

Liz-glad you've had a good trip. It's rained SO much here. Like flooding. And usually just in time for the weekend. That's so bizarre for us here because I feel like usually we're in a drought. I planted my potted plants a week or two before Charlotte was born, she'll be 4 weeks old tomorrow, and I've never watered them. Crazy!

Ann-I have often complained that DH is a "fixer" and when I have a problem, he wants to find the solution, even when I just really wanted to vent. Perhaps your therapist has picked up on the idea that we sometimes need space to be frustrated or bereaved, or whatever emotion--even with ourselves--and not just be a fixer. I never thought about us needing to do that! I was going to say hope you're feeling better--but see that's what I mean. You don't have to feel better. YOu get to feel exactly how you feel with no time limit!

Weight: 175.4. Whew. Apparently yesterday's 177.8 was a blip. I even weighed yesterday mid-morning and it was back down (even after coffee!!) Whoda thunk?

I did not get any exercise yesterday, but I did watch what I ate. I ate a lot--anyone else notice they do this when they're counting calories? I feel like I eat more when I'm trying to be aware. The good news is, I made good choices so I'm still content with my calories. But I find it harder to feel satiated with lower calorie foods. Hmmm.

Mind if I post my menu? I miss Liz's (are you still posting it over on vSG what eating?)

B: GF chocolate zucchini muffin (found these at Target last week, they're awesome, and now they no longer have them. What a tease)

Coffee with Splenda and Becca's whole milk. (give up creamer for whole milk...but I can never do almond milk. Yucky)

L: Carb watch tortilla with sweet and spicy salmon packet, 1 tsp (I measured!) mayonnaise, and lettuce,

Good thins corn chips (also measured, in grams, on scale!)

S: Kellogg pastry crisps

2 slices turkey, 1 laughing cow wedge, 2 spicy pickles

D: 1 slice sausage and pepperoni pizza (weighed on scale, surprisingly accurate piece as compared to MFP serving size), salad with cucumber, tomatoes, vinegar and oil dressing

D: 4 tea biscuits

1235 calories, 167 carbs, 58 protein, 38 fat

Missing my movie pal Peps. Went way back into the archives to watch one of my faves, My Man Godfrey from 1936. Unfortunately I fell asleep, but DH loved it too!

Today I have a meeting with the alumni board, and hopefully some sun-tanning later!

Thanks for those observations, Bonnie. I think it's wisdom.

Being a very goal-oriented person might also mean that (at least sometimes) trying to fix myself involves not "listening louder" to what I'm actually going through and need to experience and understand more fully before I can move forward stably.

And then perhaps I subconsciously fight back against my own reflexive "fix it" mentality, getting me exactly nowhere.

Good food for thought. :)

I haven't been posting on the menu thread while on vacation but will when I get back. I've just been posting on the RNY one the last few months though as the VSG version seems to have mostly died out.

Good morning,

An attempt at a post before I dash.

Shirl, loved your city house, too!

Bugs: I don't know how you MI and MN peeps mange bug season without insanity.

Packing cubes: do some of you live without packing cubes? I use them in travel but also use them in my home dressers. A cube for hiking pants, a cube for hiking tops, a cube for gloves. Etc.

And now I dash,

Shel

Yesterday I was able to get to a part of the property that has a stack of logs on it. I am building raised beds for DW and need a bit more cedar to finish. I found a 30 ft walnut log. I was excited. Managed to get 20 ft of it back to the house where the sawmill is. I could not wait until today. I was stacking lumber past my bedtime. It is such a beautiful wood. This sawmill therapy is good for me. Not good for the pain but really good for the head.

Still augmenting opiates with alcohol. Slows gut and metabolism. Extra calories. But for now it is working.

Adalyn gave me a head cold. I have been eating antihistamines and guaufenisen for 2 weeks. It has moved into her chest this morning. Her episodes of illness are getting farther apart.

Had exhaust warnings on the new to us truck. Took it in expecting to pay big bucks to get it fixed. Totally covered by warranty. Yea.

More lare, David
