OK, kids ... I'll start us off this Monday. New beginnings and all that.
Today I begin my two-week trip to see old friends, so I'll surely be MIA much of that time. Lots of driving, flying, dawn to dark o'clock visiting, etc.
Am rushing around here getting packed. And still itching. Jeez! I'll be glad when all these chigger bites have run their course.
Netflix fun lately includes "Lucifer" and "Black Mirror." Lucifer's fluff, but Black Mirror is NOT -- so creative and mind-bending. I'm sure many of you have already BM and feel the same way.
Love y'all ... I'll try to stay caught up here while I'm on the road. Will be back home June 30.
xoxoxo

I hope you have a wonderful trip!
This is SILs last full day. I think they are ready to get back, partially because 3 women in one room is sometimes too many. I'm glad I had a few days before and after their visit to be on my own, but I think they have had a good time. We went to a variety of good restaurants and heard some good music especially last night at a restaurant on a pier. Tonight will probably be leftovers or a local place. I think SILs are tired.
Oh and for the third time in renting a car in Aruba, I once again drained the battery by leaving the lights on overnight. There are no auto-off systems or beeps to warn one that the lights are on. So I have to get it jumped later once someone is at the rental desk here.
Have a marvelous Monday!

I need to catch up with all of you all
But I'm panicked. 178!!! That's a good 10lbs. above the red alarm weight. Ugh!! I know I just had a baby. But it's now becoming clear that I have weight to lose and it's not going to just come off. And in past experience 12lbs. was hella hard to lose...and that's what I have to do just to get back to the upper end of my weight!!! I also can feel the little devil on my shoulder making excuses.
But I'm having trouble setting my goals. Because I don't want to make it so difficult I cannot adhere. But I think after back to back free-for-all eating pregnancies, anything is going to be hard. It's hard to say no and it's hard to be hungry, not matter how you slice it.
So I was getting down to around 175 until this weekend happened and there was pizza (it was mahvelous, actually. If you're going to spend those calories, it better be bomb!) and then yesterday for father's day I made
***Note, Food porn warning*
chicken fried steak, gravy, mashed potatoes, corn and lima beans, rolls, chocolate meringue pie (for daddy) and cherry cobbler a la mode (for DH).
My biggest "issue" moving forward is LEFTOVERS. It's one thing to eat pizza once, or dessert once--but then you have these leftovers! And I feel almost ?guilty? not eating them. It's cost-effective and so easy...but bad on the waistline. But the thought occurred to me today: I don't have to eat all the leftovers. So currently I'm trying to decide between eating it in moderation and just eating something else (maybe DH will want leftovers). I'm all about preaching moderation. And even though the macros aren't great, I could totally eat one piece of pizza even on a diet. I want to be that person who can eat one piece of pizza and be good. We'll see.
I did take the girls for a walk the other day. It wasn't long, but between that and just picking stuff up around the house, I've been getting to 5000 steps--still not a lot, but may more than my sedentary, child-free self would ever get (usually 3500 or so). My goal for exercise is I'd really like to find a youtube channel or a dvd that has 10-20 min. workout videos and do that every morning, plus maybe two short-ish walks a day. One in the morning might be a bit more ambitious without DH, and then a more leisurely evening walk to the park. Becca loves going to the park and all too soon the sun will be setting earlier (technically this time next week the days will begin getting shorter, right?) and we'll have less of an opportunity to take her.
I'm trying to see the positive in all of this, but I'll be honest the panic and urgency in my brain makes it difficult.
Can you freeze the leftovers and pass them on to someone in your family? My husband is not big on leftovers. I'll ask him, are you planning on eating this? If he says no, I toss it. Which is worse, wasting some food, or packing my body with life wasting fat? I get to decide what is an appropriate serving.
Greetings All
No weight today. House projects underway. Deck washer/painter coming today. DH has set fence posts in concrete and wants me to get involved in his projects. Yuck. I write the checks. Thats about it.
Enjoy your trip Ann. Whew, do you ever get around!! Good on you. And thanks for the TV tips. We had watched Black Mirror some but its kind of spooky. We are back to Mrs. Maisel for now. And dang those chiggers. I so remember those.
BB I bet your weight settles down. Especially since you will soon be chasing two toddlers. You have a beautiful family indeed.
Its an overcast day which is a relief from last week's heat wave.
Much banking to do today. Three banks worth. Lots of sales $ from this past weekend that I need to take in. New banking rules say you have to be a signor on the account or show a bunch of ID to deposit cash! Must be some rule relating to drug money.
Last night's dinner was an organic chicken pot pie spilt for the two of us. Pretty good. Warm dinner on a cool night.
Liz glad you and the SILs had fun. Enjoy the rest of the Aruba days.
Take care all. Diane S
So we're leaving for Mexico City tomorrow. Packing can be a little tricky. The sun is hot, but usually not hotter than 80, it rains a lot in June, but it also cools down a lot in the evening once the sun sets. I want to go with just a carry on, so I bought some packing cubes. They are, as the kids say, the bomb! All of this is now in one carry on: 3 pairs of pants, 2 pairs of leggings, 2 dresses, 11 tops (dressy and exercise), 3 Cami tops, sweatshirt, hoodie, light cardigan, flannel lined windbreaker, swim suit, underwear, dressy sandals. (I'll wear my Tevas on the plane). I feel like I could fit more, but I couldn't roll things very tight because of my wrist, and really, I'm only going for 6 days. My under the seat bag has toiletries, book, blanket for the plane, tablet and maybe my tennis shoes. And protein bars :)
Yeah - I need to know about these packing cubes too!

Good Lord -- all that in a carry-on? Which cubes did you get?
BTW, I'm in KC now with my stepdaughter and having a wonderful visit already.
Last night we watched the "Rolling Thunder" dock/fantasy-mentary about Bob Dylan & Co's 1975 small-venue tour. The old footage and interviews are just sensational! It's like time travel.
