Another day in paradise! It looks like it will be nice but windy at home today, then rainy all week. So probably no beach days for BIL and DH at home. The forecast in Aruba is always the same: Either mostly sunny or partly cloudy, windy and 82 - all day and all night. Partly cloudy is actually easier as the sun can be super strong in the middle of the day.

Last night we went to a nice restaurant with a large group and are doing the same tonight. I love being able to go out with a 7:30 reservation instead of 5:00 with DH. Though I have found that I'm getting less sleep at night than usual due to staying up late but still waking up early in the morning. I'm usually up a good hour or so before SILs and use the same routine I developed the last few years with DH to be able to deal with the necessities in the room quietly (for example, I set up the coffee maker the night before). Today's agenda, like most days, will be beach walking, swimming, reading and relaxing.

Have a satisfactory Saturday!

Going to visit with my mother, brother and SIL today. It is my mom s birthday in a couple of days. All the kids kicked in and bought her a lift chair hoping it will save strain on her knees. It is the heaviest recliner I have every seen. DW will get a chance to visit with her mom and dad too. I will run out to the house to move a couple of things out of the old shop. It has old appliances and a lot of trash in it that I need to clear out. Maybe next week. Procrastination. Still need to get my CEUs read.

Eating has been on track yesterday.

Ann, red bugs and rosacea. You are doing some serious itching. I keep getting into something that I am allergic to. I try to notice but have not found it yet.

Cecily, your summer setting looks beautiful. Glad the aunt didn't cause too much stress.

Devon, hope the stress calms down this summer. Your dogs are gorgeous.

DiamondD, glad the injury was no worse but bone fractures are painful. Sometimes it helps to tape 2 fingers together as a splint. Hope your trip to Mexico goes well.

Diane O, trading up is nice to live in. We had a 5th wheel with slides. And now we have a bumper pull. We don't travel with it but I have noticed it is so much easier to travel with the smaller ones.

Diane S, I do not have plans for the walnut lumber. I need to build a kiln so I can build with it. I thought about an accent wall in the tiny house.

Liz, so glad you are able to relax. DH not missing you is the disease. It is hard not to take it personally. The pics of vacation are beautiful.

Shel, thinking of you often. You are one of the toughest people I know. Mountian climbing with a PE takes some kind of determination.

More later, David

I frequently re-remember the moment when the cigarette man passed me and in my fantasy I yell "I am slow because I have a pulmonary embolism!"

I have a July birthday and also need to do CE's. I considered not doing them because that would be good fun to just skip. Imagine the life disruption.

I did decide to do cheap ones, instead of expensive ones that do double duty towards keeping up extra fancy letters behind my name. Those don'r require renewal for years. So cheap ones this time, hopefully ones that I already know 80% of the material because I am lazy that way.

Also, my preceptorship needs to renewed this year. They don't have an on-line test. What is wrong with them?

Good Saturday morning!

The dead MIL saga ever continues. As you might guess from my reference to MIL as the dead MIL, I have reached my tolerance level related to all drama in closing out her house, finances, etc... Ron is on edge, which I get. Sadly, I'm getting the brunt of mood. Yesterday I chose to be the wall impervious to his reactions and out lashings, which made him even more emotional. He ended up not going to dinner with my brother, my BF and me. He seemed calmed down upon our return.

The trailer has gone off to consignment land. I am glad to have it gone and have decided I don't mind taking a loss on it in return for not having to deal with the sale of it.

My workouts have been really, really good. There is a body of an adonis underneath this layer of fat. Need to work on exposing the fruits of my labor!

We are off to Sonoma with a U-Haul to get sentimental furniture pieces (none of which we have room for, but c'est la vie!). Last night Ron found out that since he rented a truck two of his sisters decided to use it to move other things to a storage facility. Ummm.... Hello? Isn't it polite to ask? Ron said to his sisters that sure, no problem, but if that's the case he expects "the estate" to pay for the rental costs. Go Ron!

I am dreading today. Head down, move forward.

Greetings Peeps, Peps, Pets and Perps!

Is anybody here a perp? If peanut eating is a crime then I am guilty. But at least its natural ones and not in the RPB cup form. 157 today.

Liz glad you are enjoying your trip so much. Dinner at an adult hour. How nice. Our local group of friends is getting into the old people - eat -early thing. Our holiday events are at 2 and everyone is gone by 6. Still when left alone I often don't eat dinner until late.

Woke up to see DH wearing his baggy blue jeans instead of the usual sweat pants. That means he is up to something in the yard. Actually I know he is digging fence posts to build a gate. I am sure he has purchased multiple tools with which to do this.

Today is the oyster festival in Arcata which is a big fun deal if you like to wait in line for wonderful grilled oysters and see lots of beer consumed. I won't go anymore. Crowds of drunks. And tomorrow is the Fish Festival up by the Gallery de Fresh Fudge. Means they close the street and there is no where to park and I have to work. So I will get DH to drop me off and pick me up. There are usually fun craft booths and the Coast Guard does demos. I think they have various restaurants provide foods. They used to have volunteers cook but it got to be lousy.

Looking forward to studio time today. Various events have kept me out of there.

Hmmm, just looked out the window at DH. The fence post is about 10 feet tall. He has driven stakes into the ground and attached then to the post. Also some sort of leveling device. He thinks he is Mr. Tool Time. Its pretty funny.

Peps, I so hear you on the rituals of the deceased. Been there done that. Just breathe deep and get through it. And you know yourself that the early stages of grief are anger and Ron will be mad at everyone and everything. And remember I told you we had 18 huge dump truck loads out of my mom's house. Took 3 days, not including the storage units. So get the furniture. It will fit somewhere.

Cecily glad you are free of aunt crabby. She needs a lift chair like Dave described. We had one for my mom. It was a great thing because she could not walk and it made it easier to lift here and she could recline safely. Otherwise she had to sit in a wheel chair.

Speaking of wheel chairs my brother is falling often and is in need of a wheel chair but their house won't work for it. So wish they could move.

The blessed cool overcast weather has returned. All is good.

Hey Shel and anyone, there is a new book called "Who Saved the Redwoods?" by Wassermans (a couple) that is supposed to be good. Story of some early women eco warriors in the 1920's who did early work to preserve the trees. I think they are doing a book signing around here. My scrabble friends say its good.

I personally am going to rescue some coffee from getting dumped down the drain. Cheers all. Diane S

It's inspiring how you work tirelessly to rescue coffee from the drain. I bought some coffee from a gas station today. It was pretty bad. I cannot confess to where it ended up.

Good morning!

DD, I wish you a swift recovery! Liz, I am so glad to see you in paradise and glad to hear that DH is doing ok with the separation. I bet Justice asks about you all the time. DianeO, I would skip the paints, too. I always think "so many chemicals!"

Cecily, I see older people all the time that simply don't have the strength to move their (frequently tiny) bodies. It really is sort of amazing. No muscles.

My parents are still in town. On one of the best mornings, my mom couldn't find one of her hearing aids. At the same time, my dad was complaining that one of his wasn't fitting right. This went on for a couple of hours.

Eventually my dad found that he was wearing both of his hearing aids plus had stuffed one of mom's into an ear, too. My mom, "why would you DO that??!!" Instant classic. Now, when my dad can't find something I ask "have you checked your ears?" I'm so funny. Or a smart Alec, depending on who you ask. Dad is embarrassed so I haven't shared with my sister but I don't mind ribbing him.

The dogs' best grandpa day (in fact, best day EVER!) was when dad fed them. He was up early, before anyone else. He wasn't sure how much to give so when they asked for more, he gave them more. Over and over and over. Buster usually eats in seconds so when I heard extended eating from upstairs I knew something was up. No illness from the incident. They get at least one Grandwalk a day, sometimes more. They love my parents.

DD's official graduation is on Monday night in an outdoor stadium. It is covered but we are strategizing butt/warmth/moisture comfort.

DD just made a pour-over blonde for me and buttery pasta. I should have eaten 1/2 the pasta.

DianeS, I deny being a perp. But, if I am, I am sure that a RPBC was involved.

Enough delay!

Must sweep!

Shel

Tee Hee Shel, love the hearing aid story. That will be me and DH soon enough. Reminds me of the crazy Pat story where she was trying to turn on a floor lamp which wasn't working and she began to accuse me of breaking it. Then my little old mom with parkinsen's and dementia points a crooked finger to the outlet and says "its not plugged in". Sure enough. I laughed my patootie off and pimped Pat with that story forever.

As far as RPBC is (are) concerned, my bank keeps a candy jar and I get annoyed if they have none of the minis.

Yay for the dogs. My grandmother's dog got hugely fat because it would ask for food all the time and grandma didn't remember she had just fed her. Over and over. Diane
