When I was MO and walking alone, I never thought about being attacked or accosted. I am so much more mobile now, and love to explore. With my headphones on listening to music or a book, I can be less than vigilant about my surroundings. Yesterday, I checked in Google Play Store, and found/ downloaded a personal alarm AP that sounds a loud siren when pushed. I hope I never have to use it, but it makes me feel better to have it.
Good to hear from so many this week. Shel... still recovering from the party ? We know you'll share when you are ready, but we are thinking about how you are making out. Liz... sounds like you are having a good time. So sorry SIL continue to decline. BB, sounds like you are in a good place. It will all come off. You seem so much more realistic this time ! We can all be so hard on ourselves ! Diane and DD...I so related to your comments about activity and how we used to conserve movement and steps. Wearing the Fitbit really motivates me ! Now, when I make my way through a big store and realize I forgot to pick up something 14 aisles back, my first thought is "I'll get more steps" as opposed to "I'll pick it up next time I'm here." I found it was much easier to revert to old thinking when not counting steps. PEPS... you'll find your healthy summer routine !! Shirl.. with my August two weeks in Vancouver, I may not be able to make it back out but I'll sure try. Please keep me in the loop.

Probably not a lot of movement today, as my hand and wrist pain is out of control. No openings at my clini****il Monday, so I'll go to urgent care when it opens at 1pm. If I'm lucky, my former doctor of 25 years will be working. He left General practice, but works the urgent care several days a week. Got to get patched up by Tuesday's trip to Mexico City :)

Argh. My aunt fell on our road yesterday. When she said she wanted to take a walk, I should have told her it wasn't a good idea or gone with her. But it was cold and drizzling off and on, she had done it yesterday and was fine, so I didn't. She basically landed on her face. She's a giant swollen bruise, but won't go to the doctor. We snitched to my cousin (who I don't think is happy with us for no****ching over her more closely, I don't blame her) and my aunt is pissed about that... Much drama here.
Add to that, it's 46 degrees, 30 mph winds and raining here, so we're cooped up staring at bruises morph. Good times. I think I'll go to the grocery store to escape. I did take Ferg to his MI vet this AM so she can lead his care for the 4 months we're here. Went fine, but Ferg now does not like going to the vet as he keeps getting poked there. I don't blame him! I hate doing anything that makes him stressed as I don't want to tax his heart. Vicious circle.
Anyway, I'm off to find other things to do away from the house!
You are such a good person. This woman who ualually treats you like **** falls and you say "I should have told her it wasn't a good idea or gone with her".

Sawing up some walnut logs that were in the burn pile last year. I have not worked much walnut because it is expensive. It is such a beautiful wood. I was making a few boards. Feeling productive. Losing myself in the doing. During cutting the logs into boards my back pain and knee pain almost left the building. But about 1 am it was knocking loudly. The past couple of nights have been broken sleep.
Adalyn keeps us entertained. She has a cardboard diaper box that she plays with. A lot. She will put stuff in the box. Crawls in and then takes all the stuff out. Repeat. Today during FaceTime she grabbed the phone and was going through her sounds. Then she ran over to the box and put the phone in. She was still jabbering to me as she crawled in the box with me. It was all funny until her mom picked up the phone. I wonder what goes through her little mind.
More later, David

This wood is so gorgeous! And OMG I need an Adalyn: What a cool mind she has developing!

Greetings Fun Folks
156.5 today. I didn't really have dinner last night as I went to the gallery meeting and essentially ate my dinner on the snacks. Had my way with the pecan bars but they were very small. Our heat wave has backed off and its overcast today. Our deck repair is done buy we are going to have the carpenter back later to build a gate. So nice to have a skilled and trustworthy carpenter. DH is going to pour concrete bases for the gate posts. I can'****ch. He is likely to make a mess of it.
Doctor apt today for nothing much. I can check in on the results of my blood draw a week ago and see my platelets are well into normal range. I had low platelets a couple of years ago and was diagnosed with autoimmune issue. It was totally brought on by stress from my mother and crazy Pat and since that is resolved, so is the medical issue. Don't forget that stress and worry can make you sick and find healthy ways to deal with it.
DianeO, you are the total guru on finding healthy ways to deal with stress. Kudos to you! And good on you for thinking of safety when you are roaming about. My husband uses a hickory stick when walking dogs as a defense against loose dogs and he also carries some kind of a little whip to ward them off. An alarm sounds like a good thing.
Yeah, every time I realize I have to walk back somewhere to get stuff I forgot or go to another store I remind myself that I am grateful that I can do so.
Diamond so sorry you hurt your wrist. Canabas creme until you get to the urgent care? Hope is not broken and heals quickly. Congrats on 7 years and thanks for the thoughtful observations.
Dave as they say, give a kid a cardboard box and they have a castle! Nice looking walnut boards. My grandpa used to scavenge for walnut trees being cut down and get the wood. I think he had it milled for him. What are your plans for the boards?
Take care all. Diane S
