Good morning!

"It is a lovely day, and just getting more lovely by the minute" said my Dad this morning.

Let's just cut to pics. Indoor and out. Flooding you with pics!

Starting with the food.

One of the surprisingly successful party decorations were strings and strings and strings of photos of DD's 18 years spread all over the downstairs. We had a great turnout and the majority of guests followed the strings everywhere, like they were at a museum. It took FOREVER to put the strings together and it was only completed because of my parent's help. Cecily, I would have totally baled if it weren't for my parents. I even said, out loud, "why don't we finish this in morning?" and my mom said "it isn't that late, and it will feel good to get this done." I didn't play the pulmonary embolism card but boy did I want to. In the end, OMG, she was right on all counts. The success of the strings was intensely satisfying to all 3 of us. The pic below is from this morning, so the basic party decorations are down. But, we will leave the strings up for a while.

Below are pics of the top of our backyard this morning. (in my petty voice: see if you can spot all the resin creatures)

We have a green belt down below, with a creek that provides babbling brook sounds 24/7. The first pic is the pathway down the bank, the rest are of the lower yard.

The food looks amazing, your daughter is beautiful, the strings are perfect and your garden is HEAVENLY (Even with resin residents!). Great job, mom!

Re finishing the strings the night before. I will often negotiate with myself for doing tasks I don't want to do (like getting gas at night when I have to leave early the next day, picking up the house when the cleaning people are coming in the morning or project like this) by saying "Morning Cecily will be so happy that Night Cecily took care of this so she doesn't have to..." Probably makes me weird, but it works most of the time.

Not weird at all! And the examples you used (getting gas, pre-cleaner cleaning) are perfect examples.

Hope your aunt stays away from your house!!!! She sounds hard to control. Pincher collar might be helpful. Maybe a zapper collar (if there is such a thing).

There is a zapper collar for dogs which I'm sure would work for particularly difficult humans!

First of all, your daughter is absolutely lovely, with such a radiant smile. Second, your home is so inviting and tranquil. Third, I would love to make up a plate from the enticing spread you offered, and wander down to the babbling brook.

And your Garden - wow wow wow. It so peaceful and well thought out. And I would love the creek running through i****er is super calming for me - in a word blissful garden

Now is the time for you to take it down a cog - and get a little rest as I can only imagine how exhausted you are x Be kind to yourself

Your garden is ENVIABLE! I LOVE IT!!!!!

I love the lush foliage of the PNW! Not going to lie and say I love all the rain you get to make it that way, but it is really inviting. I particularly love how you have transitioned the planted garden into the natural. Not easy to do with such artistry.

That garden artistry is 100% DH! Thus my confusion about resin creatures. He also provides 100% labor. It is a labor of love, I think.
