VSG Maintenance Group
Saturday June 8, 2019
Welcome to Saturday! I am at the airport and feel 187 pounds lighter traveling today (177 for DH and 10 for Justice)!
If you follow hockey at all (I only do because DD is a huge Bruins fan), you will get a kick out of my view below while waiting for my flight and drinking my coffee. The Bruins are currently down by one game (2 to the Blues 3) in the Stanley Cup finals.
Have a satisfying Saturday!

VERY quick fly-by this morning. Company's arriving shortly.
Liz, have a super, super time in Aruba. Remind me -- how long will you be gone?
Shirl, those tree guards are ausgezeichnet! Such good things. Wish I'd paid more attention to tree guards a long time ago. The deer sharpen their antlers on young trees around here.
And Cecily -- your summer digs are absolutely gorgeous! That tugboat sunset cruise pic with your dad and his tee-shirted doggy pretty much says it all.
Everybody else, have a wonderful day doing what you're doing.
Today's theme: Summertime, and the livin' is easy!

DC is starting on medication to help him curb his drinking. He was drinking between 1 & 2 bottles of wine a day. I could see my consumption increasing too, just not to that level. This is the impetus for today's #7. In the past, disordered eating was way out of control before I recognized it. Time for brakes on the wine !

Beautiful Saturday. Yesterday, as I mentioned, I wrapped up at school my 10:30 am. DH and I were at the beach by 12:30. He launched his new kayak and I relaxed on my beach chair, reading. Perfect. When he returned, I slowly inched my way into the still somewhat frigid water. It was worth it, because the sun was hot and dazzling, the sky brilliant blue, a perfect swim. I just love swimming outside, indoor pools leave me cold. (Pun intended). And there's something about swimming in a lake, with the expanse of sky above you, and the shoreline shimmering in the distance. My friend who does triathlons calls it open water swimming. I love the ocean too, but you have to be more cautious about undertows and waves.
After our beach day, we were relaxing at home, when friends called to ask if we would like to meet them for a drink. So, feeling very young and carefree, (50s are the new 20s), we arrived at a chic art deco bar in downtown St. Paul.Closed the place down. Great start to summer break. :)
On the porch right now, another brilliant day. I'm going to do some yard work in a bit. Contentment reigns.

It's a beautiful warm day here. I'm soaking it up as we have 2 days of cool and rain on the horizon. Today was a drive through farm country to get to the Home Depot for replacement cabinet pulls. Then home to install them all. They look great. I also took a walk up our road to the shady foresty part to get some tiny ferns for my terrarium. It might have looked better before. Sigh. Leaving well enough alone has never been my strong suit. Now I'm enjoying the sun on a lounger with doggies on either side of me.
Tomorrow is my dad's 78th birthday. So blessed to have him another year. Also tomorrow, my cousin's daughter and boyfriend are coming to stay for a few nights on their way down state. Then Monday (cue ominous music) the crazy aunt arrives. You may remember my dad swearing last year she'd never be invited back because she's so nuts and unpleasant. He invited her back. I'm bracing.
Anyway, off to soak up sun!
