Everyone is so productive lately. So impressive!

Sadly, I woke up at 12:30 this morning, then tried watching some more "Frazier" to fall back asleep, but to no avail. So I'm now drinking some delicious morning vegetable juice! Damn, I love coffee!

At least I'll get a lot of writing done. :)

This morning is another yoga class, then a visit to my optometrist for post-cataract surgery follow-up and maybe a free (?) pair of glasses, thanks to a post-cataract surgery Medicare benefit I learned about recently. Then more housework prepping for weekend guests.

At 2:45 a.m., there's not much more news worth sharing ... except that my weekend party weight has all left the building. :)

Today's theme: Sleepless in the Ozarks. Just like in Seattle.

I'm continuing to work topsoil and fresh seed into my clay-based yard one quadrant at a time. With two dogs who dig and romp, that also means rotating garden fencing to protect the most abused areas, after I have repaired them yet again. I WILL NOT resort to sod. We are having a terrible time with Japanese beetles/grubs, and remedies that won't hurt the dogs don't kill the grubs. The yard will just be an ongoing project ! As another example of how obsessive I am, in several areas of river rock around the perimeter of our house, moss and weeds are over taking things. The former owners had black landscaping fabric down in this totally landscaped area. I have to agree with Cecily about its effectiveness. During the season, I work my way around and pick up the top layer of rock and put it in a five gallon bucket, to make it easier to weed. The mossy rock gets Clorox water added. I soak and brush down the rock before putting it back down. Life was so much easier when we didn't know Roundup killed living things !!

All of the time I am working, I visualize this cleansing and order permeating my own life. I have to say, when my Fitbit does its happy buzzing dance at 10,000 steps, it certainly makes me want to make good ingestion choices !!

Damn, girl ... you and Cecily are working hard on the land!

I blame this all on Shirl.

Check out milky spore for grub control. I honesty don't know about what it does with pets. Controls grubs for 30 years. It is all natural.

Awake at 12:30! Not good. Though I was reading at 2:30 am (I did eventually go back to sleep). LOL on Shirl being the motivator for lawn and garden work. Maybe I should give BIL some suggestions on that type of project while I'm gone.

Weight 134, calories 839. I'm too busy this week to overeat. Typically I do okay in Aruba as I only have healthy stuff in my room and I am outside all day. I don't think SILs will have junk food either. We do go out to eat at night and wine is consumed but generally not to excess. So if I can hold within a couple of pounds, I can get cracking on losing 10 or so when I get back from Aruba.

Two days! I have a care plan meeting at DH's daycare at 9, then I'm getting my hair cut and highlighted/lowlighted mid-day. Time to start laying out clothes for packing too.

Oh, and I found out at a support meeting yesterday that most of the Memory Care facilities near us have beds reserved where the cost is income based. If they don't have a maximum on assets that I exceed maybe I can place DH here. I mentioned DSD's birthday tomorrow to DH and he couldn't remember who she was. Sad.

Have a terrific Thursday.

Have fun on your trip. You deserve it. It is sad about DH losing ground a little bit at a time. DW s grandmother was losing memory. I would go to her apartment and talk to her. She would converse. After 30 min she would say now who are you? It is not only a gradual loss for them. It is a gradual loss for you.

My sleep has been off lately too. Wake around midnight. Go out to the shop. I have a recliner out there. If I am lucky I will go back to sleep until 4.

Working on raised beds and got rained out. Oh well, I needed to clean out the shop anyway.

My mom is planning a move to my brothers place. She just can not get her head around her rent in the assisted living. $2k a month. I keep telling her it is not just rent it is food and transportation and cleaning services. She wants to live in a tiny house. I don?t know if she can downsize that much. I have been drawing up some floor plans. She wants a storage unit/cabin. My brothers will do most of the trim work of it on the inside. She is 88 this month and very with it. Has some pain / mobility issues. She moved in with him a couple of years ago. It did not work out. I fear history will repeat. It is not up to me.

Psycho rooster did not make it. He attacked me twice yesterday. Brought blood twice. One time too many.

more later, David

Greetings Yard Masters

156 today. Our yard is sort of under siege. We have a carpenter out repairing the deck. Great guy - looks like Willie Nelson - and works hard. But I hate power tool noises and the neighbors across the street have them going to. DH was up early weed whacking to clear the way for carpenter to get in and out of the back yard and became fixated on holes the dogs have dug. Wanted me to help scope them out when I had not even had coffee yet!!!!No can do.

Diane O your yard skills astound me. I used to keep a pretty but wild garden. Now its a weed preserve. Hey DianeO I have heard that ducks or something will eat grubs. And I know that sandhill cranes eat them. So all you need to do is get a flock of them. Wouldn't that drive your dogs nuts. Around here you can actually rent goats to clean up land. But the dogs would chase them and they do poop.

Dave, hope stuff works out for your mom. You are right, you can't decide for her.

Liz gl with the care plan. Bring on Aruba!

I will be hanging around the house until DH is back from lunch and then some studio time. But first........Diane S
