The challenges of 2 little ones! Major baby proofing will be going on in your home. I think you are doing wonderfully. It does take quite a bit of time for your body to shrink down after birth so don't sweat it.

Good morning. While I wish everyone a happy holiday and extra day off for those of us still in the workforce, I'm glad we here seem to be taking a moment to remember the men and women who have served and died to ensure our freedom and the health of our republic. My dad and his brothers all served, but luckily none was even injured. My oldest uncle fought in the European theater during WWII. The others in the Korean War (or conflict, as I think it is now called). My dad was in the USAF reserves during the Korean War, but was never called because that was the military branch of choice for those who volunteered. I wore his AF jacket for years as a teen and young adult. It was stamped with his name, rank, and number. I remember proudly showing the stamp to my non believing friends.
Eating has not been as it was before MIL's death. I understand what is going on and am okay with it. Part of the issue is the non regular eating times we've had the past few days. I didn't even eat until 1:00pm yesterday. That meal was a piece of left over pizza (albeit - "Low Cal") followed a half hour later by a piece of Ezekiel toast with PB. Hmmmm.... carbs and fat..... any wonder that I was hungry by 4:00 pm? Not really! Had no time to eat because I had to go breed Yorkshire terriers. I grabbed a Coke Zero and Doritos on the way. REALLY?????? At least dinner was centered around a filet mignon! I ate the whole damn thing (about 5 oz) a few pieces of broccoli and a few bites of baked potato. Too much food, but luckily the discomfort did not last more than about 30 minutes. I must have needed the protein because I felt that had there been more meat on my plate I would have been hard pressed to stop!
Learning all sorts of things I didn't want to know about when it comes to transporting a corpse across the border and embalming methods of other countries. Ewwwww..... Long and short of it is that apparently in Mexico they use a different embalming formula. Said formula apparently is not as kind to the corpse. Which leads us to that the body has to be ID'd when it arrives in the US. Ron's sisters are unwilling/unable to do so, understandably. That means Ron has been given the task and that means I will be accompanying him for support. This will be Thursday - a week after her death. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but it won't scar me the way it might Ron's sisters and I want to be there for Ron, so I will be adulting. I'm also just creepy and curious enough that I am intrigued by medical grossness, etc...
Liza went with her new mom off to Washington state yesterday. The house is much more quiet. Liza was quite a presence! We will miss her, but she already loves her new mom and was happy to go off on an adventure. I get to see her in Portland the 3rd week of July, so that will be wonderful! I don't discount that her goodbye influenced my mood and eating yesterday, too.
I have a grooming today in a few minutes and then later this afternoon we are seeing the 3 hour long Avenger movie. I hope it is good. Ron is a comic fan. He's been champing at the bit to see it. Yes, I am planning on a bit of popcorn. No candy - just popcorn.
Enjoy cookouts, BBQs, family time today.
Greetings Precious Peeps
156 today. Same ol' same ol'. Its fine considering yesterdays nice holiday dinner including strawberry short cake. DH and I shared a serving. Everyone got really silly at the table and we got to comparing weird bathroom experiences in foreign countries. Very high brow. Our friend's garden is astonishing. They work on it all the time.
DH is enthralled by the back story TV show about how they made Game of Thrones. Its actually more interesting than the real show.
Liz go rock that 3 year appointment. A little regain is pretty normal and you can deal with it.
Peps, sorry for the sad duty you have to attend to but Ron needs you. Can't imagine having such a task. Strength to both of you.
Shel, I told yesterday's diners about how when climbing the mountain you have to potty while roped to others. Someone asked if the others stop walking!!! LOL
Ann glad you are fondly remembering your DH. Memorial day is remembering all those who have left us.
Today is checking out the kiln contents, trips to the drugstore for band aids and vitamins and various other errands. It rained overnight. Its supposed to quit by now.
The Kinetic Grand Champion Sculpture race ends today in Ferndale. Google it if you want to see hilarious sculptures on bicycles and floats. I will look for a link.
Wishing good coffee to all. Diane S

Hey all, lazy day here. More brushing of Ferg has yielded 10 more slicker brush-fulls of fur, so 19 so far? And I'm not done. Ah, goldens in shedding season. He still looks like a hairy bear.
Can't believe I leave in 4 days. Yikes. No packing has happened yet. Lists! I need lists!
I've learned to save my old lists and update them annually. It saves a lot of time and helps me make sure I don't miss anything. I was surprised to see you on FB, BTW.

We don't really have any traditions with Memorial Day. My family was not a military family. I was 15 pounds away from joining the air force. I lost an uncle that I never met in the battle of the bulge. Last year a friend and Co worker lost 2 sons in Afghanistan. Deaths were just a few days apart. My heart aches for the losses of war. The loss touches so many lives directly.
I spent most of the day setting up the sawmill. The guy that had it before me never really assembled it completely and he lost the manual. It is cleaning up nicely. I just lack a few parts getting it ready to cut. I can tell it is going to help all the way around. I think I lost 2 lbs in the past 2 days. And if I touch my cheek I can feel a smile just underneath the surface. I have so many projects to do.
More later, David

I love this: "if I touch my cheek I can feel a smile just underneath the surface"!
