That's the same damage I did in NOLA.
Welcome home!

Greetings Storm Watchers
Here is hoping no one had to go to the basement or had any damage. National news shows terrible events. We moved to California from Nebraska seemingly trading tornadoes for earthquakes. About a month after we moved here there was a tornado nearby!!! Small and no damage but jeez.
Liz what a night. I so feel for you. I heard part of an NPR interview with a psychologist who wrote a new book "Reimagining Dementia" or something like that. Sounded good. You might check it out. Hope you can reach some resolution soon. You need Aruba.
Lots to do today. Got my hair washed and dried yesterday so I am not a gunk person. Hairdresser has an adorable infant who has a nanny and they hang out at the salon so its a cute atmosphere. Pleasant. Also scrabble was fun even though I lost big time.
Pizza last night. One pizza is four days dinner. After that I may be up to cooking though the health food store deli may be my new kitchen.
Any word from BB? Could be any time now.
Peps, glad you liked my gross hand pictures. See why I can't groom my dogs? Tesla is going to her breeders Saturday and we get dinner and then she goes to a one day show - making a point for her buddy Buzz.
Board meeting for gallery tonight after errands, banking etc.
Well Shel, I see a blue dot on the radar garmin. Good luck. I was able to visit Mt. St. Helens not long after the eruption. They had just opened a one lane road through the park. It was astonishing. Thousands and thousands of downed trees pointing away from the crater and the closer you got, the less that was left. The downed trees have since been removed and recycled but I am glad I got to see it soon after the event. Stunning.
Time to look for food. and coffee. Diane S
So I am home today, and trying to put some order to our lives in the face of all that has happened. My sils Funeral Mass is set for Wednesday. Her husband wants nothing religious, but understands the needs of the Catholic siblings and is okay with a Mass for just family. He plans to have a party to celebrate her life later. I'm glad the Mass is happening, two of my husband's siblings are devout, I would describe my husband as someone who is more culturally Catholic than a devout believer. But even if he questions tenants of the Church, the ceremonies and rituals are important to him, so the Mass will bring him comfort.
We had plans to spend Memorial Day weekend in Boston with our daughter, so we'll go ahead with that. It will be nice to get away and switch gears for a bit.
DD, I'm glad you're going to Boston this weekend.
And re your SIL's services, it sounds like the best choices have been made.

Wow! It's 2:07 and it looks to me like Shel is on her way down Mt. St. Helens now. How cool is that? A real live, honest to God Mountain climber in our group. Sorry, this goes beyond hiking in my book! Congratulations, Shel!
My weight continues its dribble on down. I'm now down a full 7 pounds since beginning the sugar restrictions. I have been able to manage avoiding some pretty good food festivities this week. For example, today for a Thank You for Open House last night the PTA put together a breakfast spread. Crumbly muffins, flaky chocolate croissants, some other tasty looking baked goods, bagels and more bagels, cream cheeses, and fresh fruit. I stuck to 1/2 a bagel with cream cheese (not low cal, but not sweet!), grapes, two delicious strawberries, and a hunk of pineapple. I also wrapped up the 1/2 dozen brownies Macey packed up for me this morning (baked fresh this morning!) and will take them home and freeze or give to my dad. Out of sight, out of mind has been working well for me lately.
Today as I read the posts, I found that I was focusing in on my blessings. I feel very lucky to have my health, a loving (and delightfully somewhat off balanced) relationship, and so many supportive people in my life. Now, I need to start working on living in a "Daring Greatly" way. (I love that phrase quoted from #26 - TR! thank you Brene!) That vulnerability thing is really intriguing me. How does one go about creating or being vulnerable on regular basis? I like order and control. But I also do like adventure, which is experiencing the unknown. Hell, I'm going Glamping. That for me is an adventure. Other than having destinations plotted out, I have no idea what to expect. Just going to go!
Speaking of the Glamping trip.... Itinerary is solidified and we have tickets to the Oregon Shakespear Festival production of As You Like It on Friday, July 26. On the 27th we will make the drive home. 10 days on the road with dogs. That is an adventure for sure!
Hair cut, gym, and tanning today after work. Then have to work on Liza so she is pretty and show ready for her new mommy this weekend.
Quick evening post!
1st, group hug to celebrate BB's news!
I'm glad all is safe from recent storms.
More later, but here is a pic of Chocolate Falls. They figure prominently in the MSH "worm flows" climb because you have to cross a gully/creek at Chocolate Falls and it is roughly where there forest stops and the mountain begins.
So, my dear VSG friends, if something is named Chocolate Falls, shouldn't there be a chocolate give away as we successfully make the crossing?
You will note they aren't very impressive this time of year. They (and the creek that feeds it) wasn't even running when I passed by there this morning. It would have been freezing over night and maybe it depends on melting snow
Trip report tomorrow,
Shel
