Turns out, my pedicure is not until tomorrow (Friday).

Yesterday after lunch I took an unexpected hour-and-a-half nap. Last night I went to our local brew pub for a community gathering to organize and lobby for bike paths around town. Nice crowd. :)

Going back to yoga class today--the post-eye-surgery downward dog hiatus is over. And I can now stop using two of my three eyedrops.

Today, I get to mow!

None of this is very exciting, but it's a quiet week in Lake Wobegon.

Shel, I also comb through the reviews and eliminated some of the 20+ properties I had saved, based on those reviews, the common disqualifier being late cancellations by the host. As I looked at the dots on the map, indicating saved favorites, they were most definitely clustered in the vicinity of Kitsilano , Jericho Park and Stanley Park. The pull of the water is soo strong ! I have eliminated the outliers and KNOW I want to be able to walk out the door and walk/see/do. In my MO days, it would be all about the hotel with the best room service !! My goal is to have Airbnb and airline reservations by the weekend.

I spend spare time looking for Mt St Helens trip reports. There has been snow most recently. I would love to have a link to the property you decide on (and maybe even the close runner ups) Because I am just that nerdy but also with DD in Bellingham next year it is easy to dream that I might have opportunity to make a run up to Vancouver with or without her.

I agree with being able to walk out of the house directly into walk/see/do.

I wish I was planning a fun trip! I'm not even sure what will happen with Aruba - it depends on SIL's prognosis.

I slept pretty well last night though I was up early this morning. I finished the cushion covers yesterday and have started preparing for our return on Sunday.

DH has his last daycare day here today, so I am going to the beach one last time. It will take my mind off of SIL's appointment with the oncologist this afternoon. After today I'll be working full-time on checking things off my leaving list.

Have a theoretical Thursday!

I have to keep busy and when I'm stuck at home there are just so many TV shows I can watch or books I can read.

Life brings another change, DS moves home, indefinitely. How long lives with us depends on when and where he finds a job in his field ~ packaging engineering. Lots of leads, but no interviews yet. We've told him if he gets work in the area, he's welcome to stay here as long as he wants and pay off loans instead of rent. He's pretty self reliant and doesn't expect me to wash his clothes, or even cook dinner (although he's happy to dine with us when I do). He's fun and interesting company, and also a built in cat sitter for all our trips this summer :)

I don't think my sil has much longer. She is in a nursing home; it started as a rehab stay, but rehab has stopped. She cannot get out of bed any longer, despite how hard she did work last month to try and gain a few steps every week with her walker. Yesterday she asked my dh to pour some of the water out of her cup because it was too heavy to lift. PT and OT are discontinued, and her insurance is now being billed for skilled nursing instead of rehabilitation. End of life care meeting is tomorrow. She is sleeping even more than before, but if we do catch her awake, she is still very cognizant. I hear the goodbye in their conversations.

So much change in our group members' lives -- on the front end and the back end.

Today I met with my niece who's struggling to know how to deal with a deadbeat boyfriend (whom she doesn't want to "hurt") and about where to finish the last two years of college. Big conversations. I'm supporting her financially and emotionally, but these are HER decisions to make, not mine. Trust me, I'm not trying to parent her or to supplant either of her parents. But seriously, how in the world did y'all ever manage to parent young adults without cutting your own throat or theirs? Good Gravy!

And tonight I had dinner with our 83-year-old CPA whose wife of 64 years died last month. Boy, could we relate! It is absolutely true that nobody understands what someone who's lost a spouse is dealing with other than others who have also lost a spouse.

If your niece were my daughter, I would be deliriously happy and eternally grateful to have an Aunt like you weigh in with advice and guidance. It really does take a village. And shout out to Aunts everywhere, one of my dear Aunts hooked my daughter up with her internship which led to her first professional job. Rock on Aunts!
