Hello, all you mothers! Thank you for growing all these human beings! Like DianeS, I didn't grow any, and I salute you. :)
The scales delivered another pleasant surprise overnight -- one more pound gone.
Thanks to DD's nudge, I saw The Avengers yesterday afternoon. And I liked it. Pretty much every thirty-something screen actor was in the movie, including a few listed in the credits I don't recall seeing. I'm one of those lonely looking people who sits high up in the theater watching all the credits roll to the bitter end.
I loved some of the movie's lines:
- Resentment is corrosive.
- I don't judge people by their worst mistakes.
- A measure of a person is how well they succeed at being who they are.
- Part of the journey is the end.
Boy, did it rain and rain here yesterday. If we don't get a little sunshine today I'm going to start complaining.
Devon, thanks for posting the RV floor plan. It looks perfect. If I had get rid of anything I'd ditch the dinette and keep the sofa. (WHY am I fantasizing about RVs?!)
Tomorrow I'm returning to The Big City to give the "My WLS Experience" talk at my surgeon's all-day pre-WLS class. I'm on the down low about my WLS, but The Big City is far enough away from where I live that I'm willing to risk my anonymity to give back that way.
Today's theme: Let's jazz it up with java. Listen here.

Got some outdoor painting and weeding done during our sunny day yesterday. It's supposed to rain all day today. Ann, thanks for the Avenger gems !

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers of dogs, cats, other animals, nieces/nephews, friends and children! I have DSD here and she gave me some beautiful tulips. DS is going out with SIL for dinner along with her son, her brother, and DS' birthmother. I'm happy that SIL will have a good evening.
We had a good day yesterday at the beach where there was a lovely breeze and the water was wonderful, then we went to dinner at a great restaurant on a canal. DH was exhausted when he went to bed late for him (about 7:45).
DSD is here until 2. Maybe later in the afternoon I will cover another dining chair with the fabric I bought. I did one last week and want to have all four done before I leave. There is one other companion chair which has larger cushions and an ottoman that I will cover next year (hopefully I will be here next year). Projects keep my mind less crazy.
Love that RV, Devon: How much fun will it be to travel in that!
Have a marvelous Mother's Day and Sunday!

Sounds like a lovely Mother's Day, Liz.
And yes, "planning and finishing stuff" has got to be one of human beings' most satisfying superpowers. :)

Good morning,
Well, must see the Avengers movie with DD so she can hear:
- Resentment is corrosive.
- I don't judge people by their worst mistakes
DH needs to hear the second one.
Me? Apparently I am perfect ;) Nah, this is the one that sings to me: A measure of a person is how well they succeed at being who they are.
Happy Mother's Day to all....there are many ways to mother.
I love thinking about RV's. DH would like a small one with bump outs. That probably is best for two people, particularly when one of us (me) in particular needs some personal space. But, I LOVE the smaller Travato style. Also, as I think to my next vehicle, I suppose a condo-style trailer might fit our needs. Then again, I saw someone with a small RV with bump outs pulling a small suv. So many possibilities....THAT is the joy!
The drive home in the light was beautiful. (The drive out was at night) The most Eastern part of the state's I90 drive is very flat and without trees, very different and I appreciated seeing it. As I moved west, the Columbia basin provided sculptured beauty, complete with yellow and blue wild flowers everywhere. Plus, peaks in mtns to the North and West. There was an obvious glaciered volcano and I am not sure which one (I wish there was an app for that on my windshield).
Enjoy the day!

Shel, you should use those lines on DD before you two see the movie. Then when she hears the Avengers say them, she'll glimpse how cool you really are.
And be chastened.

Good morning. Ann, I'm loving the music! Listening while I sip my latte.
The Sun is out today, bird chorus, and one determined little woodpecker who is hammering on my cedar trim. Little bird, we have all these trees that would yield something better. I will go shoo him away in a moment.
There were two shows going on at the Opera last night. We are seated in the first balcony, and I am pleased with the location of our seats, good sight lines, leg room. The music begins, and one of the ushers stands in the dark, blocking the view from many seats. Someone finally yells, Mr. Usher, please move, which illicit a chorus of sushing. Then a man arrives to find someone in his seat. Some whispering occurs, he returns with an usher, more verbal tusseling, patron leaves. Then a woman suddenly yells oh my God! Oh. My. God.! And rushes out. Her escort sits for a minute, then runs out. Enter the usher again, he tells the woman behind to come with him. She is wobbly, and appears to faint. He helps her up, and leads her out. We then understand she has thrown up on the Oh my God woman. The two couples never return. At the pause after Act 1, the ushers come with towels and spray bottles. There appears to be very little vomit to clean up, leading us to conclude the sick and/or drunk lady really nailed the omg lady. A guy in front of us turns and says, you don't get this on the main floor! Meanwhile, La Traveitta continues, beautifully performed, in all it's tragic glory.
A quiet Mother's Day, I saw my mother and children last weekend. I have had so many mother's guide me, mentor me, and love me. Aunties, Grandmas, friend's mothers, my own friends...strong, smart, wise, funny women.
Well, time to go out on the deck to chat with the woodpecker.
LOL! "A guy in front of us turns and says, you don't get this on the main floor!" Superb observation!
Reminds me of a great story DH and I got to tell when we lived in Taos and attended the Santa Fe Opera season's first offering, a night of one fiasco after the other, which DH titled: "The Night We Went to the Opera!"
We also belonged to the Taos Opera Society (yes, there was one). DH retitled our "Tosca in Taos" evening as "The Tenor Wore Cowboy Boots."
As you can tell, DH was a storyteller of some renown, and he saw the humor in (almost) every gruesome situation.
Come to think of it, that might have been the cop in him.
