What a wonderful day yesterday was for this group:
- Bonnie's PET scan is clear!
- I can see!
- And Devon bought an RV!
Whatever the stars were doing yesterday, they need to keep doing that. :)
Oh, and this morning the bathroom scales finally dropped below 140. Perhaps eating a bit differently for a few days was just what I needed--or it was just the regular weight loss vagaries of plateauing and then suddenly dipping. However and why-ever, I'm tickled. It teaches me again (the lesson I don't remind repeating) that when I'm a consistent, plodding tortoise I eventually win the day.
Post-eye-surgery instructions were to use a lot of eyedrops and for the next week no mowing, no downward yoga poses, no eye makeup on the surgerized eye,no lifting more than ten pounds, and wear a plastic cup over the eye when sleeping. I can take a shower or bathe tomorrow and go swimming in a month.
Today I have to get my phone's step app phone fixed. When the counter finally stopped yesterday I realized that the last 4-5 days' lower step counts, which seemed weirdly low, probably were just that--weirdly, inaccurately low. Onward and upward. :)
It is still cool and cloudy here, but no rain is predicted today. One of my landsman is coming over this afternoon after his workday ends to start the weekend mowing. I really appreciate that.
Finally ... Devon, I loved reading about your student's happiness when she saw you without a cane. What a precious soul.

Peps!!!!! I thought you were just windowshopping. Wow! that is a beautiful toy- I mean, vehicle. (I would have sat on that idea for 6 months-or-forever)
Ann, so how are the colors looking? DH said in addition to improved vision, colors became sharper and more vibrant. Yay on the scale finally complying. Persistence and perseverance pays off.
While I didn't succumb to chocolates (thanks for the suggestion, Diane), I remain happy and grateful. I Love You Guys!! The oncologist I see is one I worked with during a bout with a self contained low grade (1-b) cancer found in my uterus after hysterectomy in '11. She takes a wholistic approach, and accordingly, I have some spiritual stuff to work on.
It's all good!
Off to my last Monday school day of the year...

Bonnie ... after the first eye surgery last fall I definitely perceived a color difference. For me, at least, that meant that the cooler end of the spectrum (blues, greens, violets) were "brighter." Which makes sense, given that cataracts are themselves a bit "dirty" and filter everything to look more goldish, browner, sepia. And now that both eyes are cataract-less, the cooler end of the spectrum is even brighter. And even the warmer colors, some of which often subtle cooler hues (think blue-red vs. orange-red), also look "brighter."
And after this second surgery it's incredibly nice NOT having double vision anymore (both of my new distance lenses magnify everything at least 10%).
Also, I'm hoping that my eyes and my brain won't have work as hard as they have these last six months as they tried to rationalize the mis-matching data delivered by the "good eye" and the uncorrected "bad eye."

I was window shopping! However, while window shopping I came across this rig and had to go see it. It's just over the hill from me. Everything fell perfectly into place. Nice man, great rig, most excellent price (ONLY $23K) which is actually the nada value for the rig. Most people double the value and sell. That's what the dealers. So, once I saw the condition of the rig, looked through the maintenance records, saw the new roof, etc... I HAD to NOT LET IT PASS ME BY. So, I jumped on it and bought it.
Good morning!
Big day....it would be easy to dash without a post but WOW, still WOW about B150's news AND it is summertime AND Ann can see, AND there is a new PepsMobile! (And, look! No cane!)
Tonight I drive to Idaho. Tomorrow morning, I drive right back. Much to do before then. That includes virtual Fergus pets and hugs and a game of push the ball.
Embrace the day!
Shel
PS, lovely tune, Ann. Thx for that :)

First, so thrilled and grateful to hear Bonnie's news !! NO CANCER !! Ann has her eyesight, Peps has a sweet ride and no cane. I'll catch up on all of the rest of your news !
We did come home yesterday rather than today, due to a forecast of high winds and rain. Having packed up in those conditions before (the outside kitchen, firepit area, portable dog yard, etc.) we'd opt for decent weather and an earlier departure. Lots of firsts this trip ! We used the oven, our own shower, got the outside TV working and figured out how to balance between the propane fueled heat pump and our portable oil filled electric radiator. The first time we used our heat pump, we didn't realize how quickly it consumed propane and promptly emptied our tank. Oops. We purchased a portable oil filled electric radiator, which won't hurt dogs or set anything on fire. When it is cold in the AM, we blast the heat pump 10-15 minutes, and then turn it back off and maintain the warmth with the electric unit. Knock on wood, we didn't encounter any challenges we couldn't figure out, and the dogs were absolutely well behaved. The fact that we had the top of a mountain pretty much to ourselves didn't hurt !!

DianeO, that's a lot of good shakeout work and new lessons y'all learned.
The more I'm around those who live the RV life the more I appreciate that they don't just jump in the RV and ride off into the sunset. There's a lot of planning and technology involved and sometimes some considerable problem-solving.

Lots of good news here! I'm hoping for the same today about SIL, but sleep was very elusive last night.
DSD arrives tonight for a couple of days, which is good.
Have a full Friday!

Today was the day I offered to go see Avengers End Game. 3 hours plus. My husband and my daughter are the Avengers fans, but daughter is in Boston, so I offered to go with DH. Perhaps if I had seen the 500 other Avengers movies, this one would have made more sense, but overall, it was an okay experience.
