Good morning! With half of my face still covered in bandages and hard-to-remove tape I look like I might've had a face transplant instead of cataract surgery. Yesterday my surgeon's operating nurses had a hissy fit when I told them I'd be driving myself home this morning to get my bandages removed in the afternoon. In fact, a very stern nurse waving documents in my face and said, "You signed these papers saying you would not drive until the bandages are off!" So I negotiated a 9:15 a.m. appointment with a doctor in their office who'll remove them, after which I can go shopping and drive home. Lord, that woman has the skilz to be working in border control!
On the nicer front, I had two very nice, high-protein meals yesterday that produced some odd (for me) All-Meat-All-Week kinds of macros. For dinner I went to DH's and my favorite restaurant in town that's just two blocks from the hotel and had excellent salmon and crab with a glass of chardonnay. (I had also signed a document at the surgery center saying I wouldn't have alcohol last night, but Nurse Ratched was not in the room.)
BTW, the honor bar sanitation worked out very well, and in future when staying in nice hotels I'm definitely going to make that request. It was so peaceful to wake up this morning and not feel bad seeing empty candy wrappers on the bedside table. Makes me think of poor Dr. Jekyl who must have felt very bad some mornings when he woke up and found his bloody clothes from the night before strewn about the floor.
Well, it's time for some more early morning liquid vegetables and a short stroll around the urban neighborhood.
Today's theme: It's gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day!

LOL on Nurse Ratched: I can just picture that confrontation! Better to get it done this morning anyway.
I did okay most of the day, but then ate a bunch of broken cookies sent by DS and other stuff. I went to my Florida support group mid-day and got the names of a couple of more Memory Care places to possibly visit.
I am debating going to Siesta Key today while DH is at daycare. Only 3 more "free" days here, so I probably will go as I'm not sure about the weather next week.
Tomorrow SIL meets with her doctors to get more information on diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. I'm not sure it it will answer all questions as the PET scan will actually be after the meeting. But if the pericardial fluid they drained last week shows malignant cells, that might be enough to provide a prognosis. In that case it would be pretty poor. Not trying to go down that path in my mind too much though...
Have a thoughtful Thursday!

Greetings Eagle Eyed Ones
156 today. Works for me.
Hey Ann congrats on the vision. And good for you for drinking wine. Sometimes you just have to do stuff because somebody told you NOT to.Glad things went well. And congrats on avoiding the snacks. Be sure to wear those lovely sunglasses if its a sunshiny day.
Liz have some good "free" days. Loved the FB picture on the walk. We are all hoping your SIL gets a good prognosis and feels better. Soak up the last of that Florida sun!
BB, countdown to baby. Whats your due date? Sounds like you have things ready.
Peps, back report please.
And Bonnie150 check in. We are thinking about your PET scan and not just waste issues.
Lots of errands to do today. Banks, grocery and maybe a Papa Murphy's super thin pizza. One slice really stuffs this VSG and only 280 calories for the chicken veggie.
Archie? Really?? Ok, its their kid.
Later all. Diane S

Home after visit with the oncologist and feeling-
Amazingly Light and Fluffy in a word or two, the Pet scan results showed no cancer indicated. So, the changes in the size and location of the cysts are again, non concerning and attributed to: the physical trauma of a brutal surgery, the unfriendly interaction of a plumbing system that hasn't quite learned to play and work nicely with said pancreas, and the physical changes that can occur while trying to deal with the stress and emotional aftermath.
I evidently remain a work in progress- diagnosis- a moderate case of PTSD and effects of ongoing physical effects of the Whipple. She thinks that the growth of the cysts is because of the surgery - I have a follow up in two months- expecting that the cysts may well reduce - All of the bloodwork came back clear and will check then to assure that the markers remain steady.
All quiet on the western front - Thank you, friends, for the love. It matters.
