Boy, did I take it easy yesterday and slept like a log last night.
No coffee or even water allowed this morning pre-surgery. I DESPISE this stupid part of the process. Happily, the first thing they give you when you emerge from sedation is COFFEE!
Yesterday I had to buy a new tire - one of the four still-new ones I bought last fall pre-NOLA was deemed "dangerously damaged--I wouldn't let my wife drive on that!" by the tire shop owner. And although he didn't have another tire exactly like the bad one, he found one at another tire dealer in town. So that happened. I'm glad to be driving on four good tires again and was reminded of how careful my husband was about our tires.
I will leave the house at 8:15 and drive to The Big City to meet my friend who's driving me to / from the surgery. After the cataract surgery is over, he'll deposit me at my hotel sporting a big old bandage and a cup on my eye, where I plan to drink more coffee that's much better than surgery center coffee. Tomorrow morning I'll drive home where my local optometrist will inspect my eye and pronounce the surgery a success. Then I'll put eye drops in it and refrain from wearing eye makeup or mowing for as long as I'm told to do so.
B**** the hotel this afternoon I will ask them to take all the nibbles out of my room. They can remove the booze for alcoholics, so they can remove the peanut M&Ms for me.
Later, gators!
Today's theme: Adult (the verb). Do nothing.

As Diane would put it, back "within range". I like that idea- with in range, More like instead of living in a small cage, I get to roam around the yard. Much more comfortable. Also takes away that knee jerk reactive, get back to that one number on the scale, extreme food restricting, in just one day mentality. I like the gentle, sustainable approach better.
Did not get to go to school after the PET. Radiologist said to go home, quarantine one bathroom, flood myself with water, and flush the toilet twice every time. I asked him if this might be the opportune time to send a "gift" to my worst enemy. He looked at me as if thinking perhaps he'd better alert Homeland Security. These days, I guess you can't jock around.
Off to school. Let me guess, Ann, that you picked up plenty-o-rain last night---sorry to be sending it your way.
Have a great day, chum-funs.

Spencerella (Linda) once used the playground as an analogy. Right after surgery, you are limited to the toddler section. Later, in maintenance, you can begin to roam into the bigger kid areas but you have to be careful with the bigger playground toys - you might not be ready.
Ok, let me get the timeline right....PET was Tue? When do you get results?
I don't remember getting such dire warnings about my PET waste. I spent that year crying so they probably just wanted me out of there.
I do remember getting results of one combined PET/CT in the parking lot. Amazingly fast! I was parked on the top floor which was open to the sky and it was sunny. Even now, that type of notification seems odd, but I am still grateful for that call -- the waiting is almost unbearable. Mine might have been a simpler diagnostic...strictly stage 3 (which I was) versus 4.
Peace to you. Distraction, too.

Miss150, Radioactive? SIL has a PET Friday but I'm guessing she won't have to drink anything.
Ann, good luck with the eye surgery! I never thought about asking that nibbles be removed (though I'm such a yankee I never want to pay for that stuff so I never eat it anyway).
Today is coffee day with the walkers and perhaps some errands. I may attend my Florida Caretaker Support group. I also need to assess whether I need to make any additional Memory Care visits. I may or may not take DH to burger by the pool day (he is a bit difficult there these days).
Have a winning Wednesday!

Not drank- it was injected, and then they covered me up with those warm, toasted blankets and I sat for about an hour while the stuff percolated around looking for what I pray the little atomic *******s didn't find. Then the scan.
I hear you loud and clear on that--"it's a buffet, I payed for it, and I'm going to eat it", mentality. I stay away from buffets- lose lose situation- I can't eat it all any more- so then I take the opportunity to taste all the sweet, carbs and crap laid out or I walk away feeling cheated somehow---Oh, those twisted fake truths we've learned.
Bonnie, that PET scan was a big damn deal. I am thinking of you and your meeting tomorrow with the oncologist. Many hugs coming to you through the raindrops.
Xoxoxo

Sorry, Ann, for poaching your post. I should have checked to see if while posting, someone else opened up the day.
Your day sounds well in hand. I "SEE" a perfectly smooth and restful and successful day ahead of you. Smart move with the room treats. I've been known to get above myself in thinking that I can behave rationally which is a sign of false pride, and can lead to a sad comuptance. Know thyself and act within that true scope.
Be careful on the roads of they are slick.

Thanks, EVERYBODY, for the good wishes. Surgery is over, and I'm ensconced in a restaurant booth in the Cool Hotel drinking DianeS's favorite vegetable and waiting for a late luncheon of duck confitte benedict. And no, I've never eaten that before.
When I checked in and asked that all candy and nibbles be removed from my room, they said "No problemo" and then handed me my room key and a piece of the city's fanciest locally made dark chocolate. Yeah. They did. I gave it back. LOL!
It's hard being good. ;)
