Shel, can we follow you from afar (online or yeti cam?) while you're on the mountain? I would love that! :)

funny you mention that, there is a way to watch my GPS signal. I'll share my map sometime. Remember, it will be super slow! But, if all goes as hoped, my little dot will be on top of the mountain at some point!

Hello all

191

Not a whole lot going on. I think I mentioned we decided to staycation this weekend? Technically you're supposed to be allowed to travel until 36 weeks (which I turned yesterday) but OB thought it would be wiser to stay home (no real reason, just cutting it too close) so we did.

DH and I got a whole lot done on Thursday including putting together the nursery, mostly. Now it just needs drapes, decor, filling the drawers, and a baby. Actually, she probably won't go up there until she's 6 months, but it still makes me feel a lot better having a place for her!

We also cleaned out the garage. Mostly. I mean, some stuff in there was still in boxes from his move 7 years ago!! A lot more still needs to be done...but we ran out of trashcan space lol!

It was very rainy on Friday so we also took a break to enjoy some of our staycation and watched a great old movie, The Towering INferno. I couldn't believe the lineup of cast!

My laptop went belly up and so we replaced it and our living room tv of 10 years has a becoming-more-noticeable black line across it so we did that as well. Yikes. Can't wait for that credit card bill.

I would love to get out in the yard and clean. but the rain, plus everything else going on has made it impossible. But the yard does look lu****oo bad the weeds are loving the rain too. I saw some great "prepackaged" planters at Sams (kinda like Costco...by the way, we're getting a Costco next week. But we have Sams. Wonder if it's worth it? Switch? Both? Might start to make more sense with two babies in tow). I've come to the conclusion that I don't yet know enough about gardening/it's more expensive for me to put in my own pretty planters around the pool. Plus this year there is so much going on. So a large planter at $27 sounds like a deal. But...can I be trusted to water them with new baby? I really love the look of the foliage out by the pool. Choices, choices.

Not so much on the food front. I'm not feeling very hungry. It's kinda hard for me to eat much right now. Feels like I have a boulder on my abdomen! I will admit to having that night-before-diet-starts feeling of "better eat that cookie now". I know I'm going to have to return to reality and healthier choices in a few short weeks, so I kinda wanna splurge now. But I don't really need to. So the thought of eating for the hell of it is very bad, I know!! I do feel fairly confident about my ability to turn this all around. Not overly confident. I know it will take work. I know I'll be exhausted. I'm pretty sure I can get down to 160-165 without much work. 150-155 will take some uncomfortable changes. Although I know I have to be worried about growing complacent, I'm enjoying this confidence in my body and eating. Of course I also know I won't feel like this every day.

Bonnie, you are sounding so grounded and flexible these days. And I think the $27 planters sound like a steal!

Greetings Monday Mavens

No weight today. Ate a lamb burger last night. So good. DH hates it so he had ham. More lamb for me.

Ann, you have a "landsman"! How cool. Wish I did. Also a "junkman". Sounds like you have a lovely property. And with eye #2 all the better to have cool stuff to look at. I would have shared the taco lunch. Mexican food is such a weakness.

Hey BB you will love Costco. And they treat their employees well. So much good stuff.

Countdown to summit Shel. Still thinking of your friend spinning in the crevace. My worst nightmare.

A friend is coming over in a bit to have DH photograph some art. He is very good at it. Of course he is acting like he is Cecil B. DeMille setting up the lights and Photo Booth, charging the fancy camera and rearranging all the living room junk. This is to take a picture of one ceramic piece. But it WILL be a nice photo.

Hey Peps, that's a fairly extensive vegetable list. Glad you will eat asparagus - one of God's greatest creations. And to think as a kid I was fed canned peas and canned spinach and thought it was good.

More later. Have to go help the photographer.

Diane, your husband sounds like a fun/funny guy. Both good things. I love that he's so passionate about his passions.

Re "my landsman" ... I looked for and found that term online because it's a much nicer term than what my mother used to call those folks, to wit: "a dollar-a-day man."

Back in her youth, that's what men around here were called who didn't own their own land or have a regular day job and hired themselves out as temporary workers in rural settings. Her dad owned a nice dairy farm and used dollar-a-day men during busy times of the year.

And that definitely describes what my landsman does ... helps me out during my busy times of the eyar.

Plus he's a nice person -- completely dependable, hard-working, and wants to stay independent. And I pay him more than he could make working for anyone else in the county.

BTW, my senior financial principle is that when I run out of money someone else will have to buy the drinks.

Hey all, anyone ever eat Scotch eggs? I saw a picture on a dog web site - pub food. Its a boiled egg that is then wrapped in sausage meat and then coated in bread crumbs and baked. They look really good and sound like a protein bomb. I am going to make some with ground pork as I don't care for a lot of sausages (hate fennel).

Look them up. Diane S

I've had a few. Some were great, some not great. But definitely a protein bomb!

Never had 'em. Thanks for the info. They don't sound awful, though. :)

And when/if they're offered to me in the future I'll know what I'm getting.
