Last night was one of those "craving protein" evenings, which I assuaged with a protein drink (hey, I actually like those things) and some grilled chicken strips nuked with a little blue cheese, which I found deep in a fridge drawer. I think I'm done with extra protein for a while. Yesterday's water and steps were up.

Yesterday was a big laundry day, which I enjoy doing and am finishing up right now.

The weather this morning is gorgeous! Sunshine with a high of 75F. A couple of guys will be here most of the day sawing up and clearing away a dead tree that fell this winter. I'll be outside too, picking up other downed timber, weeding and mowing.

Not much fancy stuff going on here.

However, I am excited about FINALLY getting my second cataract surgery done this coming Wednesday in The Big City. I've made a hotel reservation up there for that night, since I can't find anyone here who can devote the whole day to driving me over, sitting in the waiting room, and driving me home (I'll be sedated for the surgery and won't be able to drive until the next morning). It's going to be so wild to see clearly with both eyes.

Today's theme: Make hay while the sun shines! :)

Congratulations to your daughter! Seeing one's child achieve whatever it is they desire/are working towards/ dreaming about/chasing down is such a thrill!

Good morning!

Quickie post, I hope.

Ann, so glad about the cataract surgery! I saw a friend at a meeting this week who had a new eye/thing infection that looked just like yours. Ever helpful, I told her that she is going to have it for a while :) She is already on antibiotics.

The challenges of dealing with food in spite of everything else is one thing that makes this board so useful. Another is demonstrating that while we are not always successful, we also don't give up.

Speaking of that, I tried a small chocolate shake after my hike. Delicious for about 15 minutes then I wanted to pull over and throw up cause I felt like I had too much food in there. Shouldn't that be a slider food? I protest.

Peps, please have a dexa scan for body composition. I know you don't feel "perfect" and this might be scary. But you already know that BMI didn't apply to you, ever. That must be doubly true, now.

The dexa would give you a better snapshot of where you are but more importantly likely prove to that you don't have as much fat to lose as you fear even while at that same time you intellectually know that your body composition is different. THAT has been my most important use of this scan!

I used these people last time in a mobile truck. dexa It was pretty affordable and the website said they are near you, too. I am sure there are others in your fancy pants Bay location.

Fergus! So many pills!

Must run.

Shel

Great Sunday morning! Like you, Ann, the sun is out and all well in the world (a conscious and purposeful decision on my part)--

My mantra for the day- I get to choose what kind of world I will live in today.

I did not scrub the kitchen floor yesterday. Yesterday turned into an all dayondayoff adventure with a toilet in the upstairs bathroom--Rusted away and stripped bolt heads that needed to be hacksawed...etc .... It was- a challenge and labor intensive job shared with DH and ended victoriously. An opportunity to cooperatively strive towards a goal with ones partner--I am so grateful. The work also somehow generated the motivation and energy to clear off some of that desk work --

A rolling stone gathers no moss. Go figure.

Ann, so happy for you and your upcoming surgery. It will be wonderful to get that off your plate.

And Diane- Totally smiling over the pride you must be feeling over your daughter's achievement.

Am off to church in new (to me-thank you ThredUP) spring dress. Today I choose to be -

BEAUTIFUL.
