Regarding sleeping and turning off one's brain when waking up in the middle of the night, I download audio books to my phone from the library and will start playing one if I wake up with a 15 minute sleep timer (feature of the app that plays the books). I usually don't make it 5 minutes before I'm asleep again. And it occupies my brain so it can't go to anxious places. Not sure how that would work with a significant other in the room, but for us single folks it's great.

The tap show was fantastic. Very modern, but mind-blowingly athletic and cool. The group is called Dorrance Dance.

No plans today other than pill administration and petting Ferg.

Between allergy meds, arthritis meds/supplements, antibiotics, and heart meds/supplements he is getting 34 pills a day at 5 different intervals. 9 are chewable/flavored, 4 are temporary antibiotics, 2 are in powder form. The rest need pill pockets. I'm becoming adept at squeezing as many as possible into as few pill pockets as I can. Thankfully he doesn't chew. My kitchen looks like a pharmacy!

Hoping you all have a wonderful weekend. And I think I have a jar of pickled asparagus in the fridge I haven't opened. It may be time...

OK, I take it back. Ferg is taking three times as many pills as me. He wins.

Greetings Asparagus Lovers

And also to Peps who probably hates the stuff. Bonnie that jar looks so good. Reminds me of one of my favorite bariatric meals. Steamed asparagus rolled up in a deli turkey slice with a bit of cheese and nuked. Have the stuff to make it tonight.

We are clouded over today and its cool. Just when I got out the summer sleep t shirts!

Wow Cecily, what a pill routine for Fergus. No doubt you have an ap to organize all that. Yep pill pockets are a life saver. Years ago all there was was peanut butter or squishing dog pills into cheese. If Fergus is playing nudge ball then he probably feels pretty good. Yay. And you must feel good for doing an 8 mile hike.

Yep we are an interesting little cast of characters in our own reality show. I do love this group and the sharing of our lives. Maintenance is a life long process and there is no way you can't weave it in to everything else going on.

Well pen and paper in the bathroom is probably a good idea Ocean Diane. I used to call my office phone in the middle of the night and leave myself a voicemail. But now we don't have offices anymore! Yay. Enjoy the SS voyages ahead.

I have forgotten the latin name for the princess bush so must look it up. They have beautiful purple flowers but right now ours looks ratty so I will refrain from a photo. Will wait until its healthy and blooming again.

Liz glad DH is back in touch. People react differently to tough situations and some people just need to retreat.

Well I will go over to the homeless outreach project in a bit. Picked up some good protein items at the discount store. I got into a discussion with a younger man in line behind me. He said he was eyeing the nearby donuts and trying to decide if he should get some. I teased him and said he should hold out for better donuts (discount store ones are suspect). When I left I told him to buy some when I wasn't looking. Jeez, can't believe I said this stuff to a perfect stranger. Note that he was slim and very athletic looking. I would not have said this to a fat person. He was a good sport. Probably thought I was nuts.

Time to finish up coffee and get moving. Diane S

Asparagus is one vegetable I can actually enjoy - but it must be cooked correctly (grilled is best). Too cooked and it's a no go for me.

My list of preferred veggies is short, so here for your reference it is: carrots, broccoli, cabbage, salads, asparagus, artichoke, green beans, corn (does that even count?), pumpkin, cucumber, broccolini, green peas, Brussels sprouts, parsnips, turnips, grilled beets (never pickled). Can't think of too many others at the moment.

Sadly, my most abhorred vegetables are staples in most "diet" foods - tomatoes and mushrooms. Mushy zucchini is a close runner up.

I am the poster child of the German meat and potatoes stereotype. I truly love my meat and carbs!
