Greetings Fascinating People

156.5. Its so fun and interesting to check here every day and see what everyone is up to. Ya just never know what Ann will do!

Liz so sorry your SIL is doing poorly and that its so hard for DS and everyone. Glad its no longer a secret - keeping such secrets is a terrible burden. Hope she is comfortable and with family as much as possible.

Its another beautiful day here as it probably will be from here on out, though the rainy season is not quite over. Our hayfield back yard is being chopped on by DH. In two months it will turn brown and stop growing. Most people don'****er yards here in summer.

Gallery duty again this afternoon. Plus I have to go to studio to sign a zillion checks after last weekend sale. Cut gallery checks last night and paid other bills. Kept me busy and un-bored with tv. Pizza for dinner again. One slice of the thin crust chicken spinach is super filling and keeps me from snacking and too much wine.

Interesting dog food talk. I have wondered about what is so great about grain free? Just because it may be a good choice for some people, why is it good for dogs? We get pet food at a good pet supply store but I had to ask for help finding stuff that is not grain free.

Well my book report will consist of a few quotes. The theme of the book is how to manage issues of life in aging and its pretty much living in the moment, valuing friends and family, self care and good attitude. Chapters include things like " Understanding Ourselves, Building a Good Day, Creating Community, The LifeBoat of Family, Authenticity and Self Acceptance.etc". Its the kind of book to keep around and just pick up anywhere and read a few pages or paragraphs. Its well written so its a pleasure to read even though the message reverberates in many different ways. It also contains narratives of some individuals as examples of life struggles. Worthy messages for anyone aging and not just women.

Thrift store run today. Its a small place and they stop accepting stuff when they get full so gotta go starting Thursdays.

A new Twilight Zone episode tonight. Its pretty good. True to the original series.

More coffee. (grain free). Diane S

Liz, I am so sorry that news appears to be even more disheartening. There are not a lot of words to offer, except to say, you have my deepest sympathies.

Our son is graduating from college Saturday. It has been a long long slog in some ways. He is not by nature a student, and he has had to dust himself off a few times, get back up, and say, I can do this. And so he has. Our daughter is flying home. Right now, she is trapped at Logan Airport, having arrived only to learn that her flight is delayed 4 hours! Someone, DH, will be picking her up at 3 am, instead of 11 pm. But none the less, we will all be together soon. Did I mention 3 of my son's friends are traveling from out of town to attend his commencement? I am so touched by that. Good friends indeed.

Your son may have struggled previously with his studies, but he did it and will be stronger for it! And he must be a wonderful person to have friends that close.

Hi All

Been MIA - caught up stuff - slowly healing. See surgeon next Thu to have stitches out etc... Guess will have more of an idea of success etc then

Liz - I just wanted to send you the biggest Hug and let you know you are in my thoughts. Sometimes the sheer volume of our challenges just dont seem just not fair. You have so much to contend with already. Thinking of you and your family

I have tried to go back and read this weeks posts I have missed. Excuse the short responses but hectic at work today

Going to watch DSD do her LARP thing tonight - with all 3 dogs in tow so that will be interesting. DH will have to hold them if they play up as I dont think being pulled in different directions would be comfortable at present. Then we are driving to farm - will arrive in early hours of the morning. Tommorrow will be a sleep in then we are going to opening of the RSL then dinner for Nephews birthday. Sunday we will work around the farm - well DH will and I will potter like the old lady I feel like of late ! Then home late sunday - DH is away in Queensland next week so I will be sorting stuff out at our city home.

Missed you all x

Have a wonderful evening

Fergie's EKG did not yield happy news. He does have DCM (dilated cardiomyopathy) and it's advanced. He was put on 3 heart meds, but as far as longevity, the vet didn't think he has a long time left. I'm heartbroken and have cried a lot and will cry more. But true to Ferg's personality, he came home and woofed to have all the toys taken out of his toy box so he could spread them around the downstairs.

I asked if he was in pain and the vet said what Peps said, he probably knows he's tired but not likely in any pain or discomfort at this point. So we'll have as much fun as we can (no walks other than potty breaks unfortunately) and lots of hugs and kisses and hopefully get to Michigan which he loves so much.

I found a few articles from Tufts that talk about the food issue in an easy to understand way. Basically, they don't know why it's happening, but the FDA and vet schools are working to understand it.

Oh Cecily,

I am so sorry. He is such a beautiful boy in every way. So much fluff! He oozes friendly.

Thank you so much for the links. Very frightening. I will definitely switch out our food!

There was an article in NYT's a couple of days ago about the 5 things to ask your vet and the first was to ask about diet....one should get that info from your vet and not from the pet food clerk.

Take care. I know you will spoil him and he will love you back.

I know. You know I know. Now here's the hard thing - because he's your boy and knows you so, so well and will worry about your mood, you must be unstressed about his condition for his sake. Love him, spoil him and share the joy of his age.

If Ferg wants to go for a walk, take him. With his diagnosis I would think quality over quantity is the thing to remember. When he is no longer up for a walk, he will let you know.

Biggest hugs to you. Scruffs, cuddles and Golden ear scratches for Ferg!
