Apparently interacting with a computerized robo coach filled some sort of accountability need for me. I'm suffering some withdrawl from my 3+weeks of Noom routines. We are actually supposed to see the sun for a while today, so that will help. Cecily.. a couple of hikes with you would do the trick ! Several hours mowing at Ann's would be lovely too ! Shel, the vacuum would be there for my remains, if I tried to keep up with you !! DD, hope the service for your aunt was meaningful ! Diane...LOVE the purple purse. Liz.. the hair color is perfection! Paula, the new house sounds awesome ! I'm so glad I no longer have a pool to monkey around with ! PEPS, hope your back is better ! Atlas' mother just had a litter of ten (7 girls and 3 boys) red, yellow and white labs. Shirl, keep improving !! Miss Bonnie and BB missing your voices.

Good morning! Hopefully this will post when I press submit - yesterday's did not until this morning... Question from yesterday: How much Torani SF syrup to substitute for the 3/4 C sugar in the pumpkin custard?

I continue to eat stuff I shouldn't while BIL is here due to availability, schedule and whatever other excuse I can come up with. I had to eat DH's meal and give him mine at dinner out last night because he thought the shrimp were too spicy. BIL was amazed but DH's shrimp was fine (though I had wanted the Mahi Mahi tacos).

I think the beach is on the agenda as we didn't go yesterday. It is supposed to be 90 and humid today and the next few days.

Bam! Thank you, scales! After all that bouncing around last week, my weekly Monday morning weigh-in rewarded me with a 2.2 pound loss since last Monday morning.

And I slept 7.5 hours last night, thanks to Liz, *****minded me not to take naps, which reminded me of another one of her sleep hygiene tips--wear socks to bed, which I did. :)

And about yesterday's nearly 24K steps (which my step-counter thinks is a personal best, even better than the 18K steps I took a year ago on a beautiful spring day in Manhattan) ... that's how to fool your step counter by mowing a bumpy Ozarkian lawn, some serious tree-trimming and brush-hauling. BTW, my Fitness Pal says that 3 hours of mowing and 1.5 hours of "gardening" burns up 866 calories.

That makes me think that a successful fat farm could be designed around a lifestyle program that replicates lawn services or cattle farming. Shirl, you and DH could launch this scheme down under: You can house the participants in a communal bunk house, cook nutritious meals for them, and run them ragged from dawn to dusk fixing fences, chasing calves, and hauling feed and hay. :) And you wouldn't have to pay them--they'd pay YOU for helping them to lose weight!

BTW, Sunday's outdoor work lasted so long I barely had time for a shower afterward, so no home spa day joy for me. Yet.

Funny you mention it Ann - we have spoken of turning the mini house into an AIRBNB farm stay once we build the house

Could spoil them with country cooking n fresh preserves, fruit n veg n eggs - little side earner for our retirement - food for thought :)

State Testing is underway at my site today. This week 3rd graders are testing. Oh joy! NOT! Well, it gives me some down time to work on a few prep type of things.

Food find: Was at Costco yesterday and saw these in the specialty fridge case. Crepini Egg Thins. They are 8 calories each with no sugar, no carbs. 1 gram of protein (so the macros don?t add up to the calories, but 8 calories is 8 calories, so I don?t really care!) I had 3 crepes with a tsp of PB each and a tsp of low sugar jam for my first breakfast. Not too shabby, if I do say. 164 calories for all three.

I also created a little short list of things I DO NOT NEED TO EAT. The items on the list are not off limit foods, but a reminder that they are foods I don?t need to eat because really there is no nutritional value in them for my body. On the list are things like candy, chocolate, cookies, baked goods, etc? I am reading the list several times a day to help me keep those things in focus.

I am doing my level best to be accountable to myself, but I can see there is a lot of benefit for me in having an outside accountability. My shrink/therapist keeps suggesting I go see her recommended nutritionist. I don?t want to! Stubborn me doesn?t want to pay someone money for something I already know. I suppose I would also be paying for accountability, but I have my trainer for that, too.

I am also reminding myself to practice positive self talk, e.g. ?I am able to make healthy food choices?, ?I enjoy eating well?, ?I value feeding my body a healthy diet?, ?I get great pleasure in feeling and looking good?, etc?.

Tanning - They had me in a stand up tanner yesterday for 8 minutes. She said the stand up tanner was more intense than the one in which they put me the first day. I?m glad she cut the time from 12 to 8 minutes because even with 8 minutes in the stand up tanner I burned in the places my skin has not seen the light of day in several years - chest, belly, back, and upper thighs. Not horribly burned, but definitely more red than pink and tender. Guess I will need to mention that to them. My face, forearms, lower legs, lower thighs, neck and shoulders are all fine. So much for the doctors? creed that a base tan does not help sunburns. My skin would beg to differ!

I have 4 students still working on the test. The others are doing their level best to maintain appropriate testing behavior. It is very, very hard for some of them. Gotta give them credit. It?s 30 minutes past their recess time. They are fidgety and hungry! Boy, I wish we had old fashioned pen and paper testing again. So much easier for these little ones!

Positive thoughts for a day of healthy eating for us all.

PS - edited to add: I cancelled my Noom subscription today, too!

Greetings Maintenance Pals

157 today. Ok I guess. Steak and asparagus for dinner last night. Yummy. I paid big bucks for organic asparagus and it does taste better. Asparagus season - a joy of spring.

Oops, just realized its April 29 and the sales tax returns are due for the galleries by tomorrow. Not that hard but they changed the state computer system and I hope its not jammed up. Should have done it over the weekend instead of loafing.

Well last night was the big Game of Thrones finale which DH was all excited about. Me not so much. Too much hideous fighting. Glad that's done.

Peps good luck on getting a tan. I am the world's most pasty white person and gave up on it long ago. There is no tan - only burn and peel. Liz and DianeO have great tans. And Liz your hair is fabulous.

Hmmm, Australian cattle ranch fat farm. Like that City Slickers movie with Billy Crystal. Of course, I would find a way out of all the work like I used to do when I went to summer camp.

BB love all the family pics on FB. So good you are getting these so you have family history.

Kiln opens today and I should have lots. Always fun. But I must force myself to do those returns before I go. If I wait until evening I will put it off.

Peps I looked up those egg things from Costco. It said with cauliflower - cage free and I thought what? Cage free cauliflower? Duh. Can't have cage free tomatoes however. LOL.

So much good information today! Things to mull over. It was snowing in Duluth, lake effect snow from Lake Superior. On our drive home, we stopped and bought steak from Costco. My DH does not like to eat steak that was once frozen, so when we buy a pack from Costco we are committing to eating steak for several days. That's fine with me, let the steak fest begin!

My Aunt's memorial service was like her, warm and welcoming, family enjoying each other, and some good laughs. I did one of the eulogies. I held my cousin's grand daughter, and hugged a lot of people. My parents are from Duluth and moved to "the cities" (what we call the Minneapolis, St.Paul metro area if we dont live there, as in we're driving down to the cities today to go to a Vikings Game), to attend veterinary school. I've been traveling to Duluth all my life to see Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles... as they passed on, the trips become less frequent. I promised my cousin we will still be visiting ...

Sunny and high 50s here. Waiting for DH to fire up the grill! Now you see my master plan for buying 5 pounds of steak from Costco. All I have to do is make a vegetable side dish. Genius!
