Such an odd thing ... last night after dinner I again wanted more protein. But instead of tuna fish salad I drank a protein shake. Afterwards it seemed like my body said, "Thank you!" Weird!
I'll admit to a little frustration with this plateau. C'est la vie! Nonetheless, I'm going to drop back to the 1250-calorie range for a while.
Today's going to be very busy. The young man who helps me out on the property will be here today to clean out flower beds and trim some trees. At ten o'clock I'm meeting a friend for an hour-long walk around a lake. I'll also be on the mower for a couple more hours today.
This afternoon I'll have a phone call with the man who's leading the French wine barge trip in October to talk about other places in France to visit besides Paris--not that I don't love Paris, but it's time to broaden my horizons a bit.
I'm getting quite excited about speaking French this time in France. My kitchen cabinets are papered in French phrases I've taped up to encourage me to repeat them throughout the day. If you were following me around right now--inside the house, on the porch, in the car, on the lawn mower--you'd think I was one of those crazy old ladies who talks to herself all the time:
"Un autre verre de vin, s'il vous plaît."
"J'aime la pluspart des aliments."
"Oui, non, c'est possible, ça dépend."
"Ma ferme est petite, seulement 10 hectares."
"Avez-vous un livre préféré? Qu'Est-ce que c'est?"
Today's theme: Be here now.

I received a text that I messed my nail appointment yesterday. That has never happened ! Perhaps it is because all of the sal****er caused my gels to lift, and the last time I just had my own nails shaped and polished. I like to let my own nails breathe at least a couple of months a year, usually coinciding with heavy yard work and gardening. Had a ball in the RV yesterday, scrubbing floors and cleaning up remnants of antifreeze from flushing out the water lines during dewinterization.
So, my oldest DD, the physicist, has spent the last six months at job interviews all over the country, and three international. She is an astrophysicist and her husband is an industrial physicist. She received five job offers and they narrowed it down to two, and spent a week in each location. They considered the offer itself, cost of living, opportunities for DSIL to find a job, and what the area had to offer. One of those offers was in NC and the other in Vancouver, BC. They're coming your way, Shel !! I'm so happy for them, especially that they had choices, but MAN.... Its FAR AWAY !!
Blessed rebirth to all today !!

And Vancouver is just another beautiful place for you to visit. It's one of my favorite cities in the world.

LOL, when I saw Vancouver BC, in my head I pictured the commute and thought "so close"
Even better, my DD will be just on the other side of the border, in Bellingham WA. I don't know why that matters but it is sort of fun.
I will totally drive up to meet you there, Diane! Very excited! It is a lovely city!

I missed posting yesterday due to extreme exhaustion. I was ready to place DH in care after Friday night. It was a rough week in general. But then he was fairly easygoing yesterday, his new more absorbent adult diapers arrived, and he slept through last night (which meant that I did too). Perhaps it is because the full moon is waning???
Thanks for all your support! I appreciate that you listen to me and have many thoughtful suggestions. It helps me to think through what to do. Cecily asked what DH would want if he was cognizant of the situation. I know he had planned to put his mother in Memory Care and what he looked at for her at the time. She ended up staying in assisted living with full time companions added to avoid moving her. That doesn't make sense for DH (MIL had already been in assisted living for a few years). I think that if I were at his point, I'd want to feel safe and not bored.
The adult daycare helps with the boredom but even if he went daily it wouldn't alleviate the nighttime issues. Adding help at home every night would end up being as expensive as a Memory Care facility. But it wouldn't alleviate much of my stress. My gut tells me that he will end up in care within the year but I'm not making that decision quickly. I do have at least a couple of more places to look at here, then will do some tours at home.
BIL arrives at 2 today. I am making a baked ham, asparagus and some kind of potatoes for the "boys". There is also a key lime pie in the freezer which I will serve them. Oh and I got each of them a small chocolate bunny (Reeses for BIL and dark chocolate for DH, neither of which appeal to me). I guess I should check the timing on everything? I don't love cooking...
I definitely need to listen to that podcast. It sounds quite interesting. Maybe I'll go to the pool for a while before picking up BIL and listen to it there.
Have an easy Easter!

I missed your voice yesterday. Good to hear it today. :) You really are working through the process, Liz.
And if I ever come to Easter dinner at your house, I want a chocolate Easter bunny, too. :)

I'm kind of weird - I LOVE baked goods but candy is just okay so I generally didn't overdo on Easter (as compared to some other times of year). My favorite Easter goodie was the hardboiled eggs in egg salad!

Oh, sweet Bonnie! Thank you. That's the kind of Easter chocolate I need -- the kind I can't eat. And besides, even if it was real and sitting in front of me I don't think I could ever destroy anything that beautiful by eating it. But the anxiety caused by Want Chocolate v. Don't Destroy Art would probably make me eat a pound of Hershey's kisses.
Thank you. Really.
