Amen! Today's "kids" are so fabulous! I really can't understand why so many other people my age moan and groan about them. No generation EVER came out the same as the previous ones. Nor did they EVER have the same issues to deal with that we did. Nor did any generation EVER come up with the same (old) solutions for either old or new problems.

Yea, youth!

Greetings Sunday Friends

155.5 today. Had the last of the meatloaf last night. Who knew that ketchup would satisfy sweet tooth.

Hey Ann, isn't it fun and cozy to be in a warm home during a storm? I used to love that feeling. Glad you didn't have to go out for anything.

Liz sounds like you had a not so good night storm with your DH. Getting a night person could be a very good thing. We did that for my mom when we were worried she would roam around the house and get hurt. The night person would watch tv with her and read to her. Allowed others to sleep. Hope you can work something out. My SIL gets someone to come in and sit with my brother since he is a fall risk and can't be alone for long. It works well too. Brother is having brain surgery tomorrow.

Hey Shel, T-minus 9 weeks to Ranier? Keep us posted.

Shirley hope you are home and feeling well. Glad you like the skinny long sandwiches and that you were inspired to make them. They had an avocado goat cheese sandwich at that place that I am still thinking about. May have to snag one.

I slept in yesterday and got almost nothing done. Except make a night deposit for the gallery since someone came in and bought an expensive painting and paid with 40 $20 bills! Ended up with major mess on my hands trying to take a gift certificate from a customer plus a check. Felt like a dope but eventually got some help. But I will forget by the next time it happens. Oh well.

No regrets on passing up gooey desserts but then none appeared in front of me so not too difficult.

Diamond D enjoy those musicals. The good ones are a treat every time. Enjoy.

Time for more coffee. Then to do something useful. Maybe. Diane S

We are sandwich soul sisters. In Arcata I chose one with cheese and turkey since I would be eating it til the next day. Now that I make it the morning of the hike, I skip the cheese/turkey. Instead I use chèvre, cucumber and avocado. That's even better than peanut butter pretzels.

Yes, 9 weeks til Rainier. 5 weeks until Mt St Helens, although I will cancel it if there is avalanche danger or anything else that seems esp dangerous for a solo hiker.

Ann you mentioned before that you eat power bowls. Was it the Healthy Choice brand? Are there any particular flavors you recommend or would stay away from? Thinking about trying something premeasured, pre made, healthy and hopefully tasty for next week. I'm a little weary of packing lunch. Thought I'd take a break. Normally I despise "frozen dinners" but these look pretty decent.

If anyone else has suggestions, I would love to hear them too. Commercial food that still seems whole foodish.

Yes, they're Healthy Choice.

My long-time favorites are: Korean-inspired (290 cals.) and Cuban-inspired (340 cals.).

I also like very much the lower-calorie (190 cals.) Healthy Choice Steamers: Beef Merlot, Chicken Alfredo with Broccoli, and Chicken Vegetable Stir Fry.

Good Morning All -Im happily home and had a really good sleep last night. Nothing like being back in your own bed!

Surgery went well and specialist is happy with my progress. As soon as I was allowed out of bed(48 hours!) I was up and walking the halls. Plus getting cuppas for my old room mate who couldnt go to the kitchen as she was on oxygen. I was thankful to be given a private room for last 2 days. It was nice to be able to have the door closed and rest or watch netflix. Working my way through The Crown series - enjoying it. No driving for 2 weeks and no housework or lifting for 4 weeks. That is completely foreign to me but I will comply as I dont want to risk going through this type of surgery for a third time. Heck no!

Pain is getting better each day and I managed with only 2 strong pain pills yesterday - one morning and one night. Rest of the day was paracetmol. DH took me to the supermarket as I wanted to pick the foods I felt like. By the end of the trip I was a little light headed and admitting it was maybe a little too much - only a bit stubborn huh. He made me a delicious dinner last night - I have half for lunch today. Crumbed lamb chops, mashed sweet potato, prusuctto wrapped aspargus and steamed veg. Hes working from home today to care for me. Will go to work tommorrow but I should be ok to make lunch etc on my own

He will drive me back to the farm Wed night and we will stay there over Easter and the following week. I miss it lots and cant wait to see how the babies have grown. One of the bull calves pushed through the fence into the neighbours paddock whilst I was in hospital - naughty boy. My SIL spent ages trying to get him back through but managed. She and my BIL have patched the place he found and DH will check everything when we go back up.

Weight is up - hardly surprising as I currently look 6 mths pregnant. 177.32 - it will go down as my body heals and returns to routine. Baby steps

I look forward to going back and reading what you have all been up too. Its good to be back and thank you all for the lovely well wishes and thoughts. Its really special

Have a wonderful evening

S :)

Welcome home, Shirl! You're right -- no place like it. You sound like you're doing very well post-op. Also sounds like DH is stepping up and doing you right. :)

We really missed you.

Glad you're back in your own bed! Nothing better.

Sneaky baby bull! Between escaping piglets and calves, it sounds like it never gets boring out in farm country!

I'm glad you are home, Shirl! Take it easy, tomorrow! Follow the rules and be a role model for all your animals :)

Rest up- do nothing but walk and chill- Heal well. Smiles and hugs your way.

p.s. Our solution for naughty bully-boys (who for some reason also loved the other side of the fences) was found in cold confinement (that is- the deep freeze). Worked every time.
