I have a grooming free weekend! Well, no clients, anyway. My client for this morning texted late last night saying her poor dog had just had a seizure. (Common, sadly, in old Cairn Terriers.) Instead of a new doo, Ruby is getting a go over at the vet's. I just got a text telling me that Ruby is her old self this morning, but still getting a thorough go over by the vet.
Shirl's little bull calf reminded me to tell you all that Ella is in season and we will be attempting to create more little star Airedale Terrier puppies. This time we are going for the long distance relationship. Sire lives across the country in Connecticut. His genetic material will be shipped overnight from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Gotta love modern science and medicine!
My lost pound found me this morning. That's okay. I may have been a little dehydrated. I drank a lot of water yesterday and really didn't get rid of as much as I would have thought. We also ate Thai food last night and though I ate protein forward, I'm sure the sodium was high.
Ocean Diane, do you have an idea yet where you might like to relocate? Pawley's Island, perhaps? That is truly an exciting prospect! Fingers crossed for you that you find the PERFECT spot.
Shel, congrats to DD on her acceptance to University! That is wonderful. I did the community college thing, then university. I was perfectly content with that track. (My father was a dean at the community college, so I really didn't have much choice in the whole CC path! Thank goodness I enjoyed it! LOL)
I expected to be a little more sore this morning than I am. Maybe I will escape major soreness, as I hoped.
Diane S. sent me the best video of one of her ceramic slugs. Someone had used an app, like Pet Blah, Blah to animate the slug. Pretty funny! You know I could probably send it in a FB message, if anyone wants to see it. Let me know.
Love having you back, Ann! I'm glad you appreciated the obit I posted. For some reason it also reminded me of Del. Turns out the fellow lived in Paula's hometown! Go figure!
The sun is threatening to show itself. I am going to go outside to voice my encouragement!

Today's morning musing: I wish we didn't have to eat to live. Though I'd probably find something else to unhealthily overdo in pursuit of comfort and joy... argh. I must reset my eating. I'm on a bad path! As my southern cousins would say, I'm tight as a tick.
Yesterday I got our plane tickets for New Zealand and Australia! Lots of decisions on times, layover lengths, airlines, etc. That was a task that was hanging over me so it's good to have it done.
Thinking I might clean out something today. It might occupy my hands and clear some anxiety.
Happy Saturday everyone!
Cecily, I'd forgotten you're headed Down Under soon. I've been that direction three times -- twice to Australia and three times to New Zealand. If you have any questions about travel or anything else you think I could offer insights about, please call.
And of course, there's Shirl, who actually lives Down Under! ;)

Thank you, Ann! We go from 10/30 to 11/16 (first days lost to travel and international date line). The New Zealand part is a Backroads hiking tour, so not much to be planned, but we do have a free day in Christchurch to acclimate before we start. We're staying next to the Botanic Gardens. After, we go to Sydney and have 4 full days there. No plans made yet and none of us has ever been, so open to all suggestions! We're staying in a VRBO in The Rocks right near the Sydney Harbor Bridge.
It sounds like a super itinerary. I'm such a fan of South Island.
Poor Christchurch has been through so much with earthquakes and aftershocks. The Botanic gardens there are lovely, but I've been there only in spring, so there was much emphasis on roses. But you'll be there in April, which is their mid-autumn, so you'll probably see some lovely tree color.
Still, you'll probably be getting out of town as soon as possible to maximize your hiking adventure. The Alps (where I assume you're headed) are absolutely splendid! You will surely wish to return.
The The Rocks section of Sydney is an interesting part of town -- where the English landed first and where (for a long time) prisoners disembarked to start their new life (in lieu of death by hanging back in England). Somehow, I've never actually climbed the bridge, but I know that you will. It's one of the world's most gorgeous harbors for so many good reasons. My first trip there I became an avid fan of Australian "flat whites" (cafe au laits) which are now found all over the world. Somehow they taste better on the quay at Sydney.
You're going to have a ball!

Duh ... when I typed that I was thinking you were heading out this month (April). So yes, you'll be in Christchurch in peak rose season. :)
