Calories 862. I was remembering that during the weight loss period immediately post-WLS, I only weighed once a month. I didn't move to daily weighing until maintenance. I'm wondering if I should do the same thing while trying to lose regain. That would mean not weighing until 5/1. Or maybe weigh once a week starting Monday?

HOT today! It will be close to 90. Yesterday was just a bit below that, though okay for our morning 6 mile walk. Only 7 of our walking group did the longer walk. The group has started to dissipate as another member went home last week and two more this coming week. We aren't the last leaving (on 5/19), but close to it.

Today may be too hot for the beach but it might be a good day to stand in the pool and read (something worth reading).

Have a super Saturday!

Weight's up 0.4 this morning, which means the easy weight is now gone. I'm grateful to be rid of those 7 pounds of water, poop and toxicity. Now it's knuckle-down time to lose 8 pounds in the next 8 weeks, which is completely doable!

Thanks y'all, for responding to my book rant yesterday. Books really can trigger such strong emotions, can't they? And that spurs some interesting thoughts about why that is the case.

Shirl ... your new baby calf and your tale of its birth and rapid integration into LIFE is glorious! I appreciate how grounded (your word) you must feel. What an experience! I'm so happy that the mama waited for your arrival to share the birth with you and by extension, with us. Thank you also for the precious photograph. My neighbors here in the Ozarks are all cattle ranchers, so I enjoy the cattle antics, and they enjoy the jazz I play on the porch. But I've not yet seen a calf born. I'm putting that on my to-do list!

And Liz ... re the "proper" weighing schedule - I think what's proper for each of us is such a personal thing. For me, weighing daily works. But it certainly isn't the best way for everyone.

Diane O, that's a big decision to relocate to warmer climes to avoid the brutal NY winters. Where have you and DC considered moving to?

Devon ... your strength and skill in the gym truly awe me. You are such a brute, in the best possible sense of that compliment. ?

Speaking generally, it sounds like we're all emerging from our respective winter doldrums.

I'm hoping to see pix of Diane's sculptures and Shel's training hikes. Shel, when is your Rainier ascent? The school term will be over before we know it, and the educators will be released into the wild. Yea! And best of all, Bebe #2 will join us. Spring has sprung!

Today, I'll tinker around the house and yard, walk a lot, study French, read, and go to town.

The theme remains: Weigh, water, walk.

I agree on the weighing schedule being personal. I was just thinking out loud based on what worked in the past.

I just put a couple of dangerous carbs down the disposal (leftover French toast crunch cereal and leftover Italian bread). I'm feeling good about having the strength to do that again!

The garbage disposal is an indispensable tool in my weight loss maintance journey. I also throw away part of my food sometimes before I start eating. For example, we were served a Jimmy John's box lunch at a conference. I gave my cookie to someone, read the calorie count on the chip bag and poured some out into the trash, and threw away part of the bread from the sandwich. I get to decide what an appropriate serving size is.

Bloody brilliant! I don't think it's ever occurred to me to throw food away BEFORE the meal.

I love this: "I get to decide what an appropriate serving size is."

This will become a new tool for me, too.

One time a student's parents gifted me with a Halloween basket that had six full sized candy bars. I considered the options, not enough to share with students, I could hustle them down to the staff center... but another part of me wanted to enjoy what was a gift to me, so I sat down and took one bite, savored it, threw the rest away, took a bite from the next one, repeat. All told I ate probably the equivalent of one candy bar, enjoyed it immensely, did not feel cheated or deprived, and also did not hate myself for eating six candy bars. Another time, less in control, I was shoving handfuls of toffee popcorn in my mouth, while I was simultaneously pouring it into the disposal. Sometimes it looks deliberate, sometimes it gets ugly.

Yesterday's weather was miserable ! Snow lasted into the afternoon. Meeting with the realtor has inspired some decluttering goals. I downsized two years ago when moving out here, then two months later when we closed on the house we rented a dumpster to downsize even more as we combined two households. Now, the unnecessary items have multiplied to the point that it is impossible to tell we ever downsized at all ! How does that happen ?

Shirl... your baby boy is absolutely adorable ! Yeah on you for all of that hauling too !! BB, did I see a FB post from Vegas ? Liz, I hope you get some solid leads on residential care for Paul. I'm betting it will be less expensive down there. Great to know your options before you truly need them. Ann, great job drawing from the power of the Ozarks ! I can't wait for tales of your adventures to unfold ! Shel... you have got to be getting excited !! Have you thought about your next focus ? Peps, you are indeed a beast ! I'm loving hearing your stats ! Diane, I'm so happy to have a face, house, and doggies to associate with you ! Miss Bonnie... loved your smiling self outside your house...Liz, you too. Let's get those cameras going, the rest of you.

I would 100% do what you are doing if I was retired. I am longing to do it now, but the time is not right. Yet. My parents leave Minnesota to live in Florida for only 3 months. I hope to do the reverse. When I retire, I am moving south, and we'll come back to hang out in Minnesota in July.

Good morning, all!

Liz, I will miss the Florida pics but I know you will have equally great pics back North and then Aruba!

Ann, so lovely to see your smiling face each morning. I just know there is an F bomb waiting to deploy ;) I'm thinking of you in particular because I am stayed at the same hotel in Bellingham the night before I headed up to meet you and D in real person! I only met him once and I miss him, too.

DD will be going to Western WA University, a state school about 1.5 hours north. She would have preferred to go to University of WA but, alas, was not accepted. She is still super excited about Western as she should be. There are so many positives about this place....maybe the most important is that she won't be living within 10 miles of her family home!

We have tours today. DD has arrived....I must go.

Enjoy the day! Shel
