We left the marsh house in 80 degree weather and saw snow crossing the boarder into NY, waking up to 21 degrees today. The dogs were phenomenal once again !! It really saddened us to leave, but we are trying to feel grateful for our time. I weighed in for the first time in two weeks this morning, and was two pounds less than when left. This was my first SC trip after VSG, and comparing this experience to those between ages 8 and 45... there is no comparison. Previous trips usually involved family and massive happy hour gatherings with everyone trying to impress with decadent appetizers. Most dinners were late, She crab soup was consumed first, more often than not (rich cream and butter) followed by fried seafood platters and baskets of hush puppies, and ice cream at one of the specialty shops after. Eating was THE focus... I can recall very little true physical activity. On this trip, we made a healthy breakfast at home, had our main meal at noon (broiled or blacked fish and vegetable) and had left overs for supper. I ate three hush puppies at one meal, and had a couple of bites of dessert twice. I kayaked and walked to my heart's content, soaking in the heat and sun.
Shel, your mother wins the toxicity award ! I thought I had it bad ! Can you say resilient ? Peps and Diane, glad you are both feeling better !! Devon, thanks for checking in with Ann and letting us know ! Liz, the girls look like bookends ! Hope your birthday helped you through the anniversary of your loss. DD... enjoy ! Cecily, we share so many food history stories, including hiding stuff in the trash from the cleaning lady. Shirl, the calf is adorable !! Miss Bonnie, loved your school stash story... there's a stockpile in every school ! BB you always get me thinking ! I'd have to agree with those who have said their obesity was a result of disordered eating amplified by addictive responses to carbs and sugar as well as adverse responses to shaming, blaming and withholding I experienced from a young age.

I'm leaving for the airport shortly. This trip was originally planned to visit my parents in their winter home. Unfortunately, my Mom has not recovered enough yet from her chemotherapy, so they did not make it down at all this winter. We will open up the house, run the showers, flush the toilets, arrange for pest control treatment etc. There will be no satellite tv or internet services, so I probably will not be able to post much, unless I get desperate and take my tablet to McDonald. It could happen. Have a wickedly awesome week!

154.5 today and that's after a slice of pizza for dinner. Thin crust chicken type from Papa Murphys 280 calories. Tastes great. More tonight.
Shel really? I can't believe your mom left that article for you. Hasn't she noticed you are slim and fit? I would have wadded up that page and wiped my behind with it. I have always wondered how people with yucky parents end up so good. Hopefully you enjoyed the rest of your family. I avoided my mom for years until she got dementia and forgot to criticize me though that function was taken over by crazy Pat. Luckily you will soon be in the redwoods - a judgement free zone.
Liz love the pic of your girls. Exudes love. Hoping you find continued fun in Florida sun. And Diamond, enjoy your trip to the south as well. OceanD. guess your days of warmth are coming to the end but so glad you got to do this. Repeat often. Interesting report on the former family food fests, DH sisters used to insist on this at family events. Elaborate food that was exhausting to fix and made everyone cranky. I used to hide and drink wine whenever possible.
Cold is slowly in retreat but taking its sweet time. I got out and about yesterday and got rid of some junk. Always makes me feel good.
I have found a new charity that I think I may work with. A nearby church opens up for a couple of hours on Saturday for homeless people. They provide company, food, non perishable food items and an opportunity to get inside for a bit. There is a growing homeless problem in our area and I find this particularly heartbreaking. Not sure how this came to be but its more and more common. Anyway I can easily purchase food items. We will see. Its a United Methodist Church so not some goofy holy roller thing.
Beware all the junk in the house - I am coming for you. But first, well you know. Diane S

Good afternoon! Not much cooking here in SEKansasland. DH is currently having an open affair with the NCAA college basketball tournaments- In fact, he is two timing me with BOTH of the tournaments. March Madness? More like March Snoozer. I am taking advantage of the time to re-read Lord of the Flies.
I started switching out my closets- winter out and spring/summer wardrobe in, but quickly lost interest. My life is a little bit of a self imposed snooze lately, and I'm vicariously sucking all'y'alls exciting travels and adventures-a regular activity vampire!!!!!!
Off to read a little fictional disintegration of society. Enjoy your day, all!

Good Morning All
Sorry I have been MIA - will go back and read posts over the course of the day. Busy weekend here at the farm, I harrowed the main paddocks - just in time as we got some good rain last night. Thankful
As per my previous post - we had a gorgeous female calf born Friday - Followed by a big healthy boy on Sunday. Picture below. I havent been able to get as close as this cow is a first time mum and more nervy. Hoping she brings him up when I feed them this morning. So one more girl to go - which I expect will be within the fortnight but only she knows. We have worked hard on the fencing also. Weight is up - but thats due to eating more. I should know. DH and Mum left yesterday afternoon so Im up here with the puppies. Its nice to have the peace and quiet but I did enjoy her visit.
Well best tackle the work that awaits me - I took Friday off as sick leave so I could do final medical appointments. Surgery is scheduled for 11th April. Will be in 3 nights. So much to do and organise before then
Have a wonderful day/evening all
