I do like that better.
I really really appreciate everyone's feedback.
And I agree there is meaning in words. I really like putting it as disordered eating.
For me personally, the more I think about it, I think my poor eating comes back down to bad coping mechanisms. So it's certainly become a habit for me. And habits are very strong things. But I don't think it's a chemical level.
I completely understand. I do have chemical/biological/physiological reactions when I eat the fat sugar combos. So, I consider that physical reaction a type of addictive reaction. And like an alcoholic with booze, my tolerance for sugar has increased over the years so it takes more to "scratch the itch".
That said, most of my eating is emotionally driven. I have a lot of ingrained coping mechanisms that revolve around food. I think the most frequent habitual use of food for me is the use of food to help me relax. It's probably my most profound habit around food. Sigh.......
Liz, I loved Leona Lovegrove! I have a few pieces of clothing from her prints, I bought them at Bealls. We don't have them up north, so I always stop by when I'm visiting my parents. We don't have Dillards either. I've been known to wipe out the clearance rack of Ruby Road clothing. What's on clearance in Florida in March will wor****il June in Minnesota.
Yes, Bealls is a good place especially when there are sales and I also have a couple of articles of clothing with Leoma Lovegrove prints on them. Quite unusual to see outside of Florida!

Hey all! Sorry, late post.
I just saw an article online that the CDC is advising people not to travel to Mexico for their WLS due to a spike in people coming back with superbugs. How scary. Article I would imagine this would go for any surgeries?
Still fighting food demons. I just spent a half hour constructing an order on DoorDash (restaurant delivery). Then canceled it knowing I didn't need it. Especially when I haven't eaten particularly smartly all day.
In the multifaceted etiology of obesity, I think the new work of microbiomes is super interesting. You've all probably read about fecal implants from skinny mice to obese mice causing the obese mouse to slim down, and then vice versa when the skinny mouse is the recipient of obese mouse's fecal material. Waiting anxiously for the results of human trials. Meanwhile, it seems like a good plan to protect and grow good gut bacteria. Is this the magic something that comes with WLS, that are microbiomes evolve during the time we eat so little, meaning we also are not eating those dreaded processed foods? Is Anne's experiments with veggies and fruits about growing more of the good critters?
