Thank you for this! They had drops in several strengths and dog treats. I read the instructions for the drops (under the tongue or rubbed on the gums, not with a meal) and thought the treats sounded easier as Ferg doesn't like being ministered to/messed with in any way. I don't want him loopy or sleepy, just limp free so I think we'll try the low dose and see how it goes.
I'll add Glycoflex to the list. We've tried the Cosequins, Phycox, and now Dasuquin. Can't say if any make a difference, but it's not like he's ever not taking one to compare.
Oddly enough, he has terrific hips. It's just this one bum elbow...
I am in the same place with weight and eating. My clothes are getting tight and I'm afraid to try to wear my skinny jeans. I DO NOT want to have to buy bigger clothes. Maybe pictures of former days need to be posted everywhere in my house????

I'm BAAAAACK! LOL
It's way late, but I thought I'd put in a quick post since I had to comment on Cecily's post re: CBD oil.
Came back from Kentucky a little less (by about .4 pounds) than when I left. I can live with that. I posted some wicked pictures of breakfast food on Facebook on Saturday. I had a little of everything, but finished nothing. That's probably a good thing. I was quite tired today and as always when I am overly tired, I over ate carbs. Oh, well... back on the broomstick ASAP.
Gonna brag..... sorry, not sorry!
Lucky was lucky in Louisville! It was a large entry of 68 Airedales on a National Specialty weekend. There were 4 shows. At each one of the first three shows Lucky was what is called Reserve Winners Dog, which is basically first runner up in a beauty pageant - close, but no cigar. Then yesterday, on the last day of shows, Lucky was awarded Winners Dog. Each win is awarded with a certain number of points. The maximum number of points at any show a class dog can win is 5 points. Lucky earned a 5 point major win. He has actually only won three times, each time a 5 point major and all his wins have been on specialty show weekends. His win yesterday made him an AKC champion and he's not even two years old. Diane S. understands this is a BIG deal. Lucky was shown only three weekends over the course of 11 months. He went winners dog at a large regional specialty, at the national specialty, and now on the floating national specialty weekend. He is the first dog I have had to finish with three 5 point majors. It is a rarity, indeed. Even his father, the number 1 Airedale in the country several years ago, did not earn his championship with such significant wins. I am a very, very, VERY proud doggy daddy!
Congratulations !! VERY big deal ! I showed my Bernese Mountain Dogs for a time in a previous, before children life. It was a commitment I just couldn't keep up after DD was born. I give you and Diane so much credit !

I love them, too! When you look for one, make sure you look for a line that is relatively cancer free. In the USA, at least, Berners have a high rate of cancer as young dogs. It's really sad to hear about people losing 2 to 4 year olds from horrific cancers. From what I know the Berner cancers tend to be genetic, so the cleaner the line, the better.
Thanks Devon - Our first Gemma had elbow displasia and was operated on. She was my pre children dog and was all hand controlled - was always by my side. We lost her a smidge under 8 and it broke my heart. It was cancer
Our second Kiara - nearly made it to 10 - we lost her due to her back end going. She was our Tigger and loved her to bits. Here is a picture the night we took her to be put to sleep. I had sat and hand fed her mince meat and cuddled her for ages - hard to let them go but she was suffering
They are hard to come by over here - I always stop the owners when I see one as I want to know who the breeder is etc. When the time comes, I will be able to have my big flop hound again - but can you imagine the brushing when she lives on a 24 acre farm ha ha ha
