Tue, March 12th!
I just realized my daughter is likely moving to college that weekend......so maybe I won't be there after all. Darn! Maybe she will go earlier for some reason.

So reflecting on my 3rd week of Keto. Overall, I like it. Today I had cottage cheese and blueberries for breakfast, a Greek salad with blue cheese dressing for lunch, a protein bar and a few olives for a snack, and Greek yogurt with walnuts for dinner. And also chai lattes.
Positives: My appetite is much more controlled, I'm not grazing, and I've eliminated one of my daytime snacks. I like that I am eating much more whole, nutritious foods. My weight loss after the initial swoosh is painfully slow, yet I can feel and see some body recomposition. A little but annoying roll that had formed around my neck/chin is gone, I no longer feel it when I rest my chin on my chest. A bra I hadn't worn for awhile fit as it should again. My muffin top is very wiggly jiggly, so I think some of the solid fat that moved in has moved out again, and hopefully I will let go of some more water weight and then inches. On a scale of misery, I'd say this eating plan is not miserable at all. It remains to be seen if it will be a weight loss plan of any significance. It's certainly good for maintenance, for me at least.
I enjoyed the tone of the Keto Quick Start book. In my quest to not let perfect be the enemy of good, I am not following it to the letter. I use a lot of artificial sweeteners, and I did when I lost over 100 pounds too. It's my non whole foods crutch. I am trying to work more infused water into my diet, to cut back on the artificially sweetened ice tea. I am eating closer to 50 grams of carbs, but I am happy with the food. If I can lose weight slowly, I'm okay. If there is no measurable weight loss in another month, than I'll have to reconsider. I'm still eating store bought salad dressings. Homemade would be healthier, and quite possibly tastier. Although Lighthouse blue cheese is the bomb! I eat shrimp like it's my job, but have yet to add any fish like salmon. Still no regular exercise program. But making progress.
And it's raining! Thank heavens, because that could have been snow! Rain, rain, hang around, melt the snow so I can see the ground!
I zoomed in so fast my nose hit the screen. Why doesn't someone like good ol' amitriptyline? Cheap, effective (in the right dose) for so many things? :) It doesn't have Lyrica's flashy advertising budget.

Too funny! I do recognize the extremely poor etiquette of the poor amitriptyline bottle.

The working out and getting stronger is one of the main things that keeps me from being disgusted with myself for the total regain, or being depressed and upset and having a loathsome body image and self image. I can't begin to tell you how different it is to be at the same weight, but super fit! The difference is monumental. One really can be "Fat and Fit". I did a move today called a walk out renegade. It's a move where one stands upright then folds over putting hands on the floor and walking the hands forward until in a plank position with your hands on two dumbells (in my case 30 pounds each). Then you row each dumbbell and and walk your hands backward and then stand upright. Repeat for a full set of 8 to 12. On my last set, I pulled out 15 simply because I could!
Here's a link to see it, if my written explanation doesn't quite cut it: Renegade Row Walkout
