Saturday! March 9th

Good morning!

What a week! DianeO, so glad you are in a beautiful environment! DD, I hope spring begins to take hold! (That sounds like I am concerned about you but (as usual) it is all about me since I am going to Iowa in 9 days)

All is well except nighttime eating snuck in last night. Also, I have been trying to cut back on coffee and thought I was doing ok although I had an 88 for a top number for blood pressure at an appt last week. This week, I was lightheaded physically and mentally. I finally pounded down 6 cups of coffee yesterday and felt fab. I think my sodium intake has been down, too which also effects bp.

Anyhoo, enough about that! DianeS, my redwood time is looking painfully short but I am going to enjoy every moment!

Gonna try out my new mittens! Find your fun!

Shel

Good morning! Watching the morning news. I think I see a window where I could get out of the house before the next big storm, which should start in a few hours. The prediction is for heavy wet snow, and the broadcasters are talking about the danger of roofs collapsing from the weight. Pondering whether or not I need to shovel the deck, it currently has what looks to be a bit over 2 feet of snow on it.

Shel your systolic number was 88? That does seem pretty low. Is this what happens when someone becomes a mega hiker/climber.

So besides the errand I am going to run in a few minutes, I am resigned to being homebound today. That's okay, because as I mentioned before, I see the light at the end of the tunnel, Florida I will triumphantly return on March 24.

Shell, I can pray that for the both of us that the weather is better in 9 days, and no roofs have collapsed at any of the places you'll be visiting!

Greetings Scarce Ones

Where are ya'll? Daily info needed from all.

155.5 today. Seem to be at least stable. Have cut back wine which helps cut back munchies.

Shel yikes, low bp? You know what to do. If you are not gaining weight then is nite munching really an issue (said the old lady who occasionally finds a peanut in her bed). Have fun in Iowa. And to all of you, yes it is possible to have fun in Iowa! Even in winter.

DianeO hope you are soaking up warmth and good feelings and getting that kayak ready to go.

Shel, watch that road area south of Crescent City. Its usability varies daily. At least there is not a ton of rain predicted in the next few weeks.

Hmm, Diamond, heavy wet snow. Not good. Hope you have a sloping roof. Seems like its the flat ones that can't take the weight of snow. Yay for you heading to Florida.

One slice of pizza last night for dinner. There is one left and I am eyeing it for lunch.

Big deal here in our small town is the opening of the Dollar General store. Controversy because it is 1: and ugly cement block box, 2: its next to the high school and is applying for a liquor sales license, and 3: it represents evils of big corporation stores competing with mom and pop businesses. But its also near a senior mobile home park and is the nearest store for many modest homes. I drive past it daily and it will probably become a milk and eggs stop for me. Small town life.

Get well Cecily and in the meantime get comfy.

No special plans for today other than to do stuff I have been putting off. But first I will continue to net surf in my pajamas. What else is new? Diane S

The storm has arrived. It's starting as rain, which is good because rain eats snow, and is bad, because now there will be a layer of ice under the snow tat will begin falling. All you can do is get cozy and sit back and watch.

One client dog groomed. One to go. Taking a lunch break.

Oh, boy this flu just keeps giving. While I feel "fine" the congestion and cough linger on. It's really quite something. I was talking with a teacher at school who fell ill the same day I did. She did not have the flu vaccine. She still felt pretty bad yesterday, but came back to school the same day I did. She only made it a half day on Tuesday. Taught Wednesday and Thursday and went home and fell into bed. I on the other hand, went back to school on Tuesday, felt pretty darn good, worked out Tuesday night and have been going on my regular schedule like gangbusters since Tuesday. Clearly, the vaccine made a difference for me. Another point for better living through science and chemistry!

********* Installment #2************

Having a tough time weaning off the carbs. Amazing what a hold that macronutrient has over me! But, a little better each day.

I wanted to do something a little bit different, but somewhat challenging at the gym yesterday. So, I piled 290 pounds onto a power sled (which weighs 70 pounds itself). After doing a full set of Romanian Dead Lifts with 50 pounds, I pushed that sled back and forth across the gym floor - all 360 pounds of it. Did three sets of those. I'm so enjoying these little milestones in my training.

Just finished dog number 2. A Chinese Crested. I have never groomed on before. I put him in a pony cut. It was fun stepping outside my comfort zone. See pic.

I'm curious what it's going to take to convince myself, motivate, or JFDI, to get off the processed carbs. Such an interesting process this. I am blessed in that I am no longer upset with myself for lack of "commitment" let alone with the whole process.

Well, now I must groom Ron! LOL! He needs a hair cut, and yes, I am his groomer!

Hey cool. A coated Chinese Crested. Very cute little buckeroo. I just took Tesla to have her nails trimmed. I have done my own dogs for 30plus years but she is impossible. Hope you are feeling better. DS
