wowza I'm the first one?!!

I wanted to start by giving a HUGE thank you to Diane O. for a beautiful hand-crocheted baby blanket that arrived on my doorstep yesterday. Talk about an unexpected bright spot. That is Noodle's first present and we love it!
Pretty boring weekend. Very cold weather. My aunt was here for her birthday and that was nice. But I felt a little cooped up indoors, especially with a whiny almost-toddler. I need some sun and warmer weather!! We did get away for a Thunder game, which they won in the last minute! Yay!
All sorts of turmoil going on with the stepkids. Maybe it's the moon? DSS was on phone with his dad and DSD had shown up to tell us about her sorority drama. And as though not to be upstaged, Becca decided to throw a massive tired-refusing-dinner-fit. My poor DH felt like he wa**** by a truck yesterday. HOpefully today will be less dramatic. I have ham and bean soup in the crockpot and a caesar salad to go with.
I'm glad I "can't" do keto right now during pregnancy :D I'll be honest, I actually have no intention of doing it later, either. But I do strongly admire the idea of getting back to protein first, maybe followed by low-carb veggies (booo...all the healthy veggies hurt my tummy nowadays). I know it's going to be hard to have to tell myself "no" this summer. I've not had to do that for quite awhile. I'm really hoping I can put a little effort into meal prep and then focus on summer salads and grilled lean meats and fish and all the fresh produce.
Happy Mardi Gras!

I am back at school today. I am feeling much more myself, too. Congestion still holds fast. The remnants of the flu are creating musical outbursts of coughing into elbows and rhythmic sniffling all around me. We ONLY have 4 out today. A huge improvement over Friday and yesterday! Also have a new student, Thomas from the UK. He's a cool little kid - terribly British looking, too! Blonde hair, blue eyes, sticky out ears, caterwonky teeth.... He also has that wonderful self assuredness that 8 year olds can have. Combine all that with his Sussex accent and viola! He's completely adorable! A nice addition to the classroom. He's already found his crew, too. That is always so helpful.
My gradual transition to fewer carbs and eventual Keto has begun. Two hard boiled eggs for breakfast.
FYI- saw a couple posts with tags for Liz on FaceBook. Looks like she and Paul have been visiting with friends along with a daughter. I am thinking all is well. I hope I'm right.
Onward.
Greetings Intrepid Ones
156 today. Dinner last night was a bowl of roasted veggies with a bit of cheese. DH ate shrimp. But I have been craving veggies. At the gallery I ate the better part of a package of locally made bacon jerky. Its to die for but loaded with sugar I think. Bacon candy. Yum. Fortunately its hard to find.
Weird gallery day. Some nice visitors. Morning worker had made a mess out of the computer on a gift certificate sale. She had also accidentally pulled out some cords and the system quit. Someone else was able to fix it. Then I sat down on the behind the counter raised chair and discovered it was wet. Cleaned that up and then noticed the morning worker walking around with a basket leaking water all over! Basket had a leaky water bottle. She was good about cleaning up but I just wanted her to leave before more disasters occurred. A very fine person but natural born ditz. I had to put old rags on the chair and then sit on a trash bag.
Peps glad you are feeling better and have students back. The new one sounds adorable. I am imagining a little Doc Martin.
OceanD, how sweet of you to send BB a blankie for the Noodle. Indeed baby #2 needs her own treasures.
As mentioned the two lost little girls were found safe. It made the national news and the kids were interviewed. The 8 year old was very mu*****harge and they did the "hug a tree" thing they learned in 4-H and drank water off of huckleberry leaves. This was all about 80 miles south of here in some pretty rugged dense woods.
Tesla's co owner is coming up here this afternoon to groom her for me. She lives on a super treacherous dirt road. I have to go buy her some of her favorite wine as tribute. Ditto some other items like bullet proof coffee which I am really starting to get used to.
Yep I have seen a couple of Liz posts on FB so am assuming things are ok.
I didn't sleep well last night so went in the guest room to be lulled to sleep by CNN and the endless political parade. That and house hunters.
Lordy I am runny late. Gotta get moving. Diane S
Good Morning All - Just back from SIL's again - animals all let out. We got 10 ml of rain over the past 24 hours and Im thankful. Means I dont need to water at either place today so Im going into the bigger town to get some supplies for the weekend and next week. DH arrives late Friday night - will drive up with the puppies after work
Peps - I had some downtime yesterday when I finished work and I watched Dumplin. I too could really relate to the battle overweight people go through. The feeling of not measuring up or being good enough. I thought it had a good message. Thanks for the recommendation. Oh n laughed my head off at the mothers final outfit - I dream to rock that outfit like she did - ha ha ha. Hope you continue to feel better each day. The new kid sounds like he will fit in well - must be so hard coming to a new school from a different country but kids are so resilient huh.
Diane O - So sweet of you to make a blanket for BB's 2nd - thats lovely - such a kind heart
BB- Hope things have settled down a little in the drama front :)
Diane S - Sounds like an interesting day at the gallery - hoping the seat has dried out
Waving to all those who come after me - I best go get my day started - I have all the beginning of the month invoicing to tackle plus a million other things
Have a wonderful day all

The weather has destroyed my will to live. I go to work, and I do my job with the proper level of energy and enthusiasm, but once I'm home, I don't want to leave. Specifically my bed and my covers. The ice, the 6foot tall snowbanks, the cold, just add an unpleasant layer of difficulty to accomplish any task. My husband is now referring to our bed as the Willy Wonka Bed. Like the Willy Wonka grandparents, I don't get up. If someone brings me a golden ticket, I might get moving.
Speaking of Willy Wonka, the Broadway tour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is arriving in Minneapolis. I have conferences tomorrow night, but I'm hoping to do the educator rush on Thursday, thereby forcing me out of the house.
Snow storm forecasted for the weekend. Awesome!
