Good Morning All - Monday morning here and been up since early doing chores. Hectic weekend - went to DSD's and helped them do some renovations. We got the toilet all repainted and I trimmed back their roses (very neglected) - before we loaded tonnes of rocks into our trailer to bring back for our garden. Had a great dinner out with them and loved spending quality time. DH & I made them a yummy cooked brekkie Sunday morning.

Home via DSS house - to help him unload some stuff after his move last weekend then onto visit our niece and meet her new little girl - who is just gorgeous. Got home just before 8pm, ate, shower and bed as we are exhausted.

At the city house today working but will drive up after 3pm to farm. Back looking after my SIL farm too - so plenty of exercise and late nights coming up. On a positive note, the extra movement has mean a drop in weight. I was in my danger zone of showing 80 kilos on scales - uggg Thankful this morning shows 174.46 so moving back in the right direction - Ideally 169 ish is where I want to be. Not taking the puppies tonight - DH will bring them on Friday night so I am truely batching this week at the farm. Will be strange without the fur children but always plenty to do

I will pop back later and catch up on all the posts

AS a coming trip approaches, I think I might miss the dogs the most! At least I can see/talk to the people.

Greetings Darling People

156 today. My low of yesterday didn't last. Might have been the deli made beef pot pie we had last night. One pie was enough for two of us and it was great. Hoping the rebound was more salt than carbs. Got some nice roast veggies also. DH is embarking on a mission to Costco which means there will be shrimp tonight. He calls it "Costcovia". But he got Tesla out on a walk today which is good for both.

OceanDiane good for you for scoping out camp sites and getting a jump on reservations. Serenity needs outings.

Shel, I had no idea drinking greasy coffee was good for your brain. Pre WLS I went through a phase of heavy cream in my coffee. Is that good enough? Put that aside way back but still require half and half.

Shirley where do you get so much energy!!?? !! I think I have done a lot if I fold laundry and pick up the dog toys. But I WILL do a dog walk with Chip. Its sunny and calm here and no excuses. Plus flowers are popping out (sorry northern dwellers) and I hear a lawn mower.

Shel, can Ranier really be 16 weeks away? How does one determine a fat/carb amount for mountaineering purposes? Keep checking on the 101. It could slide 3 times in the next few weeks.

I am eating my lazy cook eggs today. I put the recipe on the VSG forum.

Junk food hiding strategies. DH keeps a big can of peanuts from Coscovia out all the time and I do dip into them. But I don't touch the veggie straws (one pay grade above potato chips) and the other stuff he keeps around. Good idea to keep it in the garage. Or in a cupboard surrounded by poisonous snakes!

Here is all the stuff I should be doing:

Sort tax papers

sort and file gallery papers

sort and file my mothers papers

sort bills and pay car title

sort out all the black socks that are similar but don't match

walk the dog

do more laundry

plan a healthy dinner

Wash all the throws that are on the sofa and have muddy dog footprints

take junk to recycle

glue some art pieces

read self help books

order some clothes on line

Here is what I will probably do:

finish eating eggs

watch talking heads on TV

do about 10% of the above.

Peps please stay home and continue to heal. You know you are sick if food is not appealing.

So why are carbs the answer to everything? Sick=carbs, my dog died=carbs, celebration time=carbs, I stepped in a mud puddle=carbs, my head hurts=carbs, world hunger=carbs. Life should not be all about carbs yet I practically rolled in the crust and potatoes in last night's pot pie.

No answers here. At least coffee does not have carbs (that we know of). Diane S

No, Rainier is not 16 weeks away. Now it is 15 weeks. (It starts on a Saturday so overnight I lost a week)

During snowmageden, my daughter unintentionally added to food fest wannabe when she casually remarked "Mom! Rainier is just around the corner!"

I have been busy flagging possible hikes in your area to prep for my visit. Way too many to chose from. One of them we did last year and it was terrific but maybe I should stick to new trails. I plan to get onto beach hikes, too. MUCH MUCH MUCH to do!

Many MSNBC talking heads have podcasts. If you get your books on audio you can just listen to them. You don't even have to turn a page (or swipe)

To determine carb/fat burn, I will repeat a test I did several months ago. One wears a mask that collects everything you exhale while on a treadmill with intensity gradually increasing. It can tell what mix you are burning at any level of intensity. It also tells you how many calories you are burning.

Last time, while looking at the data, the technician doing the test, said "wow! you hardly use any calories!" Then she tried to cover by saying "well, you are a small person." Well, I am small now, but perhaps that contributed to my past size! Or, at least I like to think so

Yikes Shel, 15 weeks! I have taken naps longer than that! But I am sure you will be well prepared and summit in style. Pics please.

I am sure I have told ya'll I had a resting metabolic rate test. The result was 927 - so low that Dr. Cirangle thought the test was bad. But I believe it. Reminds me to check the university Bod Pod status. They hadn't set up the protocol for rmr test yet but that was a few years ago.

Reinforces my opinion that many of us are indeed slow burners. Thats how our ancestors made it through the ice age.

beach hikes rock. at least the short ones do. Diane S
