DD & Paula, you're getting it worse than we are, but this weather is too much ! Sunday morning, we took down our flags, tied down furniture too big to move inside, and moved in the stuff we could and filled the generator. 24+ hours of 40 mph wind with gusts 65-75 can do a lot of damage. Watched A Star Is Born and sat around waiting for the storm. (LOVE Lady Gaga !!) I have a family room full of exercise equipment downstairs and totally sat and blobbed out, drinking wine. Not proud of that. Listened to the winds howl throughout the night and woke up to 4-5" of snow, which was totally unpredicted. High wind warnings are with us until 7 PM, and many schools are closed today. (Teachers...how awful is it to waste a snow day the day after a one week vacation ?) I have had more than enough of this. With the winds, it is illogical to even try to shovel it. Eleven (11) more sleeps until South Carolina !!
I'd be totally for a meet up in Vegas or Joshua tree in September !!! Also, after several bad PAP smears, I had a total hysterectomy at 51, and have never been so happy !! My positive thoughts to the sisterhood and all challenged by uncooperative sex organs.

Good morning, all!
First of all, I texted Ann. As of yesterday, it is 10 days til Mardi Gras and the preparation is "intense." She said she will try to swing by next week.
I am amazed at the Weather this year for you folks. By the way, nothing wrong with blobbing out. Maybe that is exactly what you needed, DianeO.
I think I have 2 weeks off at the end of March and I am hoping to visit Iowa and the NoCA Redwoods in DianeS's backyard. I need to summon all my math skills to 1) make sure I have enough vacation time for everything I want to do in the next 6 months and 2) figure out how to get in my long elevated training hikes during those 2 weeks. Pretty exciting, and I am up early with my brain buzzing.
It will also be interesting to see what happens with Shirl's trip to the West. Would love to meet up. I would fly, no matter what so it matters little where. A bigger issue is work coverage but I'll just keep my fingers crossed.
Yesterday's hike was epic. It was a wet, spring day in the lowlands but a snowing winter wonderland just 2000 ft up. In-between was a mix of slippery mud and slush that threatened to turn the steep trail into a slip and slide. Excellent workout! Tiger Mtn was buzzing with activity since the close in training hikes are still closed for snow/avalanche.
Enjoy the day!

It would so cool if some of you could meet Shirl. You may recall that Cecily and I met at the 2017 OH conference.
Weight 126.2, and yes the carb monster is alive and well. I did well all day until about 8 pm. Calories 1369.
Today the humidity is supposed to abate a bit. Don't have any specific plans other than walking with the group and getting coffee with them this morning.
Have a meaty Monday!

Thanks, guys, for your concern. Texted yesterday with Shel and got a direct message from DianeO this morning, so I know you're thinking of me.
What with all the Mardi Gras lead-up (parades, parties) it's been an intensely busy recent few weeks. I also had a friend visit for a week who exhausted me with a lot of family issues she's struggling with right now.
As we now head into the second half of my French course, it's the French classes that have turned out to be my most favorite part of the winter. Amidst all the earlier Mardi Gras parades and parties, the last two weeks have also been the time for NOLA's annual French film festival, and all the films have been shown at a theatre that's a 15-minute walk from my apartment, so that's kept me busy, too.
And now, Mardi Gras has begun in earnest. Was out to dinner the last two nights. And tonight I'm hosting a dinner for friends at a lovely restaurant. Tomorrow night is a Mardi Gras ball (formal, kid gloves, etc.****il March 5 (Fat Tuesday) there are multiple parades and/or parties every day and/or night.
I've just never experienced anything like this social schedule. I don't expect to do this season again, and I'm throwing myself into it.
By the time I go home, I will be SO READY to be home alone out in the boondocks.
Bisou bisou!

Kisses to you, too! So nice to hear from you! I adored your purple skull suit (and the attractive fellow with the matching suit). Glad you are doing well and enjoying your temporary life in NOLA. I gather that wintering in NOLA is not something you are planning on again next year. Is it just too much day in and day out for you?
