Weight 172.2
I had a great workout with my trainer yesterday. How funny that I've learned to like it so much! My rear is on fire today after lots of weighted leg lifts. Pilates was great too and probably was a small part of my rear ache.
Today is "run around like a chicken with no head" cleaning for the cleaning people, then therapy, and that stair hike again with my two British friends in Dana Point. The high will only be 55 today, but lots of sun. So weird for us!
Wishing everyone a lovely day!
Greetings Push Up People
156.5 today. I have been hitting the late night crackers which is not good. Bought them for nephew who didn't eat them. Must unload them at the studio.
Well if push ups indicate longevity then I had better start planning my funeral. I can do NONE. Part is because of crappy hands that won't lay flat. I did an exercise dvd for awhile and I did the push ups against a door frame because the molding was curved. Thats about the best I can do.
Liz I am so glad to hear DH is at the day care today. Hope you can go to the beach or pool. Maybe he will accept it better if he goes more. But good on you for looking into the memory care facilities sooner rather than later. Yeah, its expensive to be sick.
Yeah, the Smollet story is bizarre. What a waste.
Hey Cecily, sounds like you are really rocking your work outs. Yay. And DianeO, glad you are able to set some boundaries. Let us know if you discover any good techniques.
Great pictures Shel. You are brave to hike those trails. 20 push ups rocks. You are also a beast!
BB, your ex uncle probably has regrets about alienating his family. But that doesn't mean you have to accept his overtures. Your aunt counts more.
Well it was a slow day at gallery - not one sale - but I had plenty to do with revising by laws and researching sales tax payments. Ditto playing iPad games.
I am resolved as a matter of self care to clear off this clutter. Thrift store takes donations today so I am making a basket of debris. Baby steps. At least the sun is out.
Steak last night. DH was unable to eat his portion. He doesn't seem to understand that eating 4 ice cream sandwiches plus bowls of crisps makes it hard to eat protein. Oh well. He is off to the surgeon for follow up since its been a month.
Lots that needs to be done. But not before more coffee. Diane S
Good Thursday, all!
I can't decide if my 55th birthday has triggered some sort of aging panic or if Ron's issues are spilling over in to my own thought processes about my own health, or if it's simply that because I am being proactive about my health that I am painfully aware of how my body is changing as I age. All that to say my doctor's appointment went very well, but I am now adding a new med to the mix.
My BP issues were resolved in my mind. My current BP med is working. I was working with the belief that it was not working as well as it should. However, my BP was 123/75 yesterday on the first measurement. So, after some discussion, I decided to not mess with what is working, though my PCP was perfectly fine switching me to a first line BP med. The blepharitis is what it is. Chronic condition that will require a daily hygiene routine and I can expect occasional flare ups. He does consider my case very mild. Let's keep it that way.
Prostate enlargement is now going to be treated with a med. I'll be taking a DHT blocker called Finasteride. One of the delightful side effects is that it helps with male pattern baldness hair loss. I took Propeicia, which is a 1 mg dose of the same medicine that is used by men to combat male pattern baldness. Means I'll lose some body hair, too. Hallelujah! I HATE the hair that grows on my shoulders. I shave it off every summer! It all fell out while I was on Propecia!
I will be taking the 5mg dose which is called Proscar. Sort of freaks me out that one of the possible effects is a higher rate of high grade prostate cancer in men taking this medication. However, I don't know how much higher the incident rate was in the individual trials. I'll see how it goes for several months on the med and evaluate the medication's effectiveness and benefits. If after 4-6 months I don't see a marked improvement, I think I will discontinue.
I felt in great need of comfort food last night to nurse my bruised male ego back to health. Pizza was the key. (Lord, does that sound familiar????? - raises eyes to ceiling and shakes head while wearing a crooked smile.....)
I read some generic stuff on ketogenic diet last night. I get it, but some of it just doesn't make sense for long term health. Seems that there are different forms of ketogenic diets. Some focus on whole foods and natural high fats and others really are about fat in any form and meat of any quality - sort of a high saturated fat and high cholesterol eating regimen, which I simply can't get behind. My book should arrive today. Will be interesting to see the author's philosophy. I seem to remember that she has a rather healthy outlook on what a ketogenic diet ought to be.
Oh, weight was up 2 pound from salty pizza I think. I didn't even get up last night to pee. That is a real rarity.
