When my boundaries are firmer DC's impact me so much less. Hot tip, huh ? Today I have repeat bloodwork to recheck my potassium and I meet with my new divorce attorney. Long story short.. I've been legally separated ten years, and had to carry my girls' father (can't say husband) on my health insurance until he turned 65, as part of the settlement. I began divorce proceedings the day after he turned 65, two years ago. I made the mistake of hiring a former student to handle things, as I'd had a $$$$female shark$$$ for the legal separation, who did a fabulous job. When ex was really dragging his feet, she had me hire a forensic accountant to dig through his audio recording business, to assess value etc. One day later, he signed the separation agreement the mediator had even told him to accept. You get what you pay for, and the young attorney I hired has dropped too many balls and missed too many deadlines, so I'm moving ahead with a new attorney.

Liz, hope DH can spend several days a week in daycare. You need the respite and they need time to build strategies and a plan for him as his deterioration accelerates. Thinking of you !!

Weight 127.4, calories 1607. Arghh...

Thank you all for your kind words and suggestions. I felt a bit better as the day went on yesterday perhaps because DH is going to daycare today. I was planning on it 1-2 days a week, so maybe I'll set it up for Thursday as well this week if today goes well again.

I have been waking up in the middle of the night and staying awake for a couple of hours mulling over things which doesn't help my mood. I think DH getting up wakes me up initially but then my own mind keeps me awake. Last night I realized that DH never really showed any excitement about DD being here and barely acknowledged her. He used to always call her "Tierney the Best". I wonder if he didn't even know who she was? He seemed to, but maybe that was an act? Kind of blows my mind.

Today, it will be close to a record high here, in the high 80's so we are going to the beach. For once I won't have to worry about DH going to the bathroom or wandering off. Though I just realized that he doesn't swim anymore! He used to be a strong swimmer and last year my concern was his lack of orientation when he came out of the water after swimming for a length of time. Now he barely goes in and comes right out.

I definitely need to find that book on Keto. I'm going to look it up on Amazon.

Have a thoughtful Tuesday.

PS - someone told me it's at Costco. Not sure for how much, but their prices are usually great on books.

Good morning,

DianeO, legal-adulting.....that's the PhD of adulting. I'm hoping the new attorney works out better. Good for you, too, for setting boundaries with DC.

Liz, even from afar, DH's decline is shocking. MIL, in a moment of clarity, once commented that friends and family made her feel good. I wish I could remember her exact words, but it was something along the lines of "that never goes away" although she couldn't interact normally with them. Do seek care for you, too, as things like over-active night time brain threaten to take up residence.

DD, I'm pretty convinced that diets ought to be personalized, to some degree. And maybe our own personalization changes over time.....for example, maybe the body changes with MO, as one finally steps into obesity as a chronic disease. Anyhoo, for myself, I know I feel better and do better weight wise if my carbs (particularly added sugar) are lower. And, maybe even best if I am in keto but I get tired of that. I'm glad this group just keeps plugging away. Complacency doesn't seem to work.

After 2 weeks being snowbound in the city, I spent the last 3 days in the woods. Yesterday was a snowshoe with neighbors, friend and DD. It was DD's first time snowshoeing. Pics below. Note that the paragliders didn't let a little snow and cold keep them out of the air. In the people pic, I am the person to the far right, my daughter is just to the left of me. We are trying not to punch thru to a stream below.

Enjoy the day, Shel

More words to live by:" complacency doesn't work." Indeed!

I read something someone wrote about a loved one with dementia once. The person said something along the lines of, "I don't know who you are, but I know I love you." Liz, I hope your DH feels that and does for a long time.

Thanks Cecily - I'm not so sure he feels that way.
