I've been thinking about the regain issue, and for a lot of us it hits around 3-4 years post surgery. I am frankly still a little mystified. As I mentioned before, the first few years I felt like my body metabolized food differently than it had before, that I was more like a normal person. The wild physical hunger was gone, I could fight the head hunger, and I could have a small indulgence, and it meant neither instant weight gain or insatiable cravings. New thought, the book, Quick Start Keto, talks about how Keto style eating convinces your body to switch to fat burning mode. Clearly after WLS, I was fully in fat burning mode. Maybe after several years of letting carbs creep up, even as I kept my calories low, I retaught my body to prefer burning glucose, and so returns the hunger, (but thankfully still not to the crazy level of pre surgery) the cravings... If I can stay with it long enough to switch my body back to fat burning mode, maybe Keto style can help me reset once again.

So much for my lazy day! Every kennel has been washed inside and out, dog bedding washed and dried, water buckets scrubbed and rehung, master bath cleaned top to bottom including washing the floor by hand, bedroom and hallway walls and baseboards washed, floors vacuumed, lower kitchen cupboards washed. Finished it all off by making us a lovely dinner of locally organic raised filet mignon, spiraled carrots, and some left over pasta from my b'day dinner. Ahhhhhh, the feeling of domestic accomplishment. Bliss!
