Weight 125.8, calories 887. I really need to do as Devon said and start stringing these clean eating days together.
Only 5 more days until DD arrives! That will be a nice break in routine. In the meantime we are getting together with a visiting friend this afternoon and going to a fashion show at the Lodge on Thursday. Two of our walking friends are modeling so that will be fun.
I am missing my usual walk this morning while waiting for the pest sprayer to come. Of course he probably won't arrive until after I would have returned...
Have a total Tuesday!

Over 60 degrees and lots of walking ! Today is DC's 65th birthday, and we're about to go to Best Buy to fight over a Geek Squad $107 / year service plan that was renewed without our knowledge, for a smart TV we no longer own. Sound familiar ?
So, about ten years ago I was on a South American cruise with a former boyfriend who insisted upon the Princess line. He also insisted on an inside cabin as he was a cheap accounting professor. Long story short, he was a total weanie and sicker than a dog as the storm nearing Cape Horn built. He hunkered down in the room, and I went to enjoy the storm, which I clearly couldn't do on deck as it was cold, wet, and dangerously windy. When they started stowing the buffets, emptying the pools, and stacking/tying down furniture... should have been the best clue, but no... I was intent on finding the best vantage point to watch the storm. I finally ended up in the sky bar, at the very top of the ship. I was the only passenger there and there was one bar tender, securing glassware and bottles. I had a comfortable couch, windows 360 degrees and a perfect view as the bow raised on each trough and plummeted back down at what seemed like a severe angle, with waves crashing over the bow and higher on the ship, but I couldn't judge depth. The waves came faster and faster and became more irratic. An announcement was made for everyone to shelter in place. The bar tender explained that the captain was trying to take waves bow first, and that we probably wouldn't roll if we took one to the side. He estimated the waves at 40-50 feet, said it was the worst storm he'd experienced, and opened the first of several bottles of Champagne we shared. We did make it in to a somewhat sheltered channel/fiord, where we spent the next three days. The ship sustained damage, including a massive floor to ceiling promenade deck portal window that blew out, and flooding from waves and other blown windows. We arrived back in port four days late as we had to limp back after our fiord break. I had a ball !! My next cruise was a riverboat down the Nile, however !!

Good morning Liz!
The weather here is so unpredictable! Was supposed to be like 63 today (sounds nice!) but instead now a high of 49, rainy and drizzly=chilly.
GM seems "off", wondering if she has another UTI. It's very small things that probably only I notice--like yesterday she was confused about whether to salt and pepper poached eggs before they got cooked (we always salt those at the table as opposed to scrambled eggs which we salt cooking). She also thought English muffins were bagels. And she hasn't put a trash sack in her garbage and yet insists she never has done that.
I started feeling unwell yesterday and went home. So far today so good but that means a lot more work since I didn't get it done yesterday.
I think I've identified my biggest fear in staying home with my kids for a short period is my mother's disappointment. She made some off-handed remark about "twiddling thumbs." The weird thing is, she did stay home with my younger sister and me for a couple years. But otherwise she's a very work woman and I know they're very proud to have raised a lawyer, doctor, and engineer (all women) and the sense of disappointment that I would give up my career and future at the uncertainty of everything else is palpable. And I don't know what to do about it. For one thing, my mom raised me so this same line of thinking is somewhat born into me. But I also want avoid disappointing my parents more than almost anything in the world.
Dinner in the crockpot for tonight: Santa chicken with peppers and onions. Will probably roll it up in a flour tortilla and call it a day. Definitely thinking that simplicity needs to be my theme for awhile.
The older you get you'll learn two things for sure about your relationship with your parents. The first is that you know what's better for you than they do now that you're an adult. The second is that you will realize that your idea of disappointing them is based on your inner child wanting to please mom and dad and that the reality of what might be actually disappointing to them is completely different.
As my dad told me once: There comes a time in parenting when your child becomes an adult sometime between 25 and 30 that, if you are wise, you realize your job as a parent is done, because frankly, you really have no say or control. From that point forward it is up to the parent to become an available counsel when needed.
My daddy is wise man.
Quick post this morning to fill y'all in ...
Sunday night after going to bed I had the WORST case of acid reflux I've ever experienced. So bad that I aspirated stuff into my lungs, so much that my lungs started generating massive amounts of phelgm to clean themselves. As alarming as that experience was, it was also a bit interesting to watch my body doing that.
Yesterday, in response to the ongoing phelgm / bronchitis / coughing I was still enduring, I ate the blandest foods in the house (crackers, English muffins, organic milk and rice and even butter -- nothing I would ordinarily be eating ) to soothe my stomach. I didn't drink any alcohol, had only a single latte in the morning, and as much liquid as I could get down.
I stayed in bed all day (watching Netflix), thinking (correctly, I think) that this was a situation that did NOT demand a "get everything on today's checklist done no matter how bad I feel" response.
Then last night, for the first time in 7-8 years, I became quite nauseated and vomited. Having never thrown up since WLS, I had long wondered if I could even throw up anymore. Turns out, yes, I can. Not sure if this is an intestinal bug or just my body's reaction to the assault is has weathered.
Today, I'm slowly moving again, still eating blandly and even more minimally. I'm not nauseated anymore. My lungs are clearer (producing less phlegm, although still producing some). They do not feel infected, just recovering.
What a 36-hour trip this has been. If there were a "win" in here somewhere it would be that I have been "listening louder" to my body and trying to do what I think it's asking me for as it works to heal itself.
Today's theme: THAT was interesting! Small steps first.

Ann, what a "trip" you've been on the past 36 hours. I wonder if you have a bug that caused the flare up of GERD? Or do you think it's the celebratory eating you've done over time while in NOLA? I have to take a Protonix daily since VSG. Otherwise, I have pretty bad reflux - the horrible burning kind. Blech.....
Hope you are feeling better and better as the day progresses.
Greetings All
Quick drive by. 154.5. No clue why that happened but its all good. I must have been weighted down by yesterday's snow. Sun's out today but we had frost. Unbelievable how many car accidents we had yesterday with 1/8 inch of stuff on the road. People have no clue how to drive here.
Ann be careful. Sounds like an icky experience. If you don't use a ppi on a regular basis I hope you keep some around for emergencies.
Love your cruise story DianeO. Not glad you had the storm of course but sounds like you made the most of it. I would have been in the barfing department.
Gotta go. More later. Diane S
Today I hit my official "I am rocking it" on this "diet" initial weight loss. LOL! Except for WLS surgery the most I have ever dropped in a week was 7 pounds. I was 26 when that happened. Today I was down a full 7.0 from last Wednesday. After losing January gain (funny how that worked this year...maintaining through the holidays, then gaining weight in January....) I now have only a pound to go to make it to my "New Decade". I'm hell bent and determined to see that 4 in the tens place within the next week.
Good shrink session yesterday. Won't go back now until February 25. We talked some about my self visualization. I am feeling very hopeful that since my visualization of where I wish to be weight-wise and appearance is an extremely realistic goal that I will be able to accepting and kind to myself and comfortable in my skin when I get there. If I can manage those things I think I will have a much better chance at maintaining my weight in a healthy range.
Overall, I'm in a good "NO SUGAR" zone. Each day I'm successful at staying off the refined sugars and carbs the easier it gets. Like I mentioned in my response to BB yesterday, having the same breakfast and lunch each day of the work week makes it much easier for me to stay on track and committed to the process. Seeing the scale drop is also a reward, but I absolutely have to remember the reward is creating a sustainable habit, not seeing the number on the scale go lower and lower. So logical, but for me, significantly harder than it sounds.
I am enjoying school today. We are doing old fashioned things like cursive and learning how to read maps. The kids LOVE this work! Video games be damned! LOL!
