The only place I felt unsafe was Rio. It was the grittiest place we visited. But throughout the cruise we were repeatedly reminded not to wear expensive jewelry off the ship. We did a ship excursion tour of Buenos Aires the first day and there were three separate buses doing the tour. A different person in each of the other tours had expensive watches stolen by thieves on motorbikes riding past and ripping them off. Word on the ship was they were Rolexes, but who knows if that game of telephone was accurate. If two weeks of daily reminders didn't keep you from wearing expensive items into town, then I'm sorry to say they were asking for it.
But we were mostly in the Recoleto neighborhood in BA and it's gorgeous and upscale. The locals all seemed decked out and unconcerned. Most people with backpacks (locals and tourists) wore them like Baby Bjorns though. And of the two nice restaurants we went to in BA, one had a security guard at the door and the other kept the door locked. People would hold up their hands around their faces and peer in the glass door and that seemed to be a sign to the waiters to invite them in. We never did get the full story there!
I would absolutely go back to BA though!
Greetings Super Bowl Survivors
156.5. Not good. Late night cracker eating attack. I was assaulted by saltines.
Not much of a game that Super bowl. We sort of wanted the Rams to win as there is a former famous Nebraska player on the team but didn't much care. Congrats to Pat's fans. DH yells at the tv and the dogs get scared.
Yeah I hate weighing at the doctor. I don't bother to discard too much since it really doesn't matter. But years ago I used to close my eyes and tell them not to tell me. Once they said "ok, but you are down 3 pounds". Don't flip out DianeO. It will adjust.
Hey its actually snowing here. Well sort of. Its this kind of slush stuff that is barely accumulating but since it only does this here about once every ten years, its a big thing. Numerous accidents on the freeway. People here have no clue how to drive in the stuff.
Liz glad you are working on Aruba. You need to do this.
No word from Ann means the boycott bowl must have been a blowout party. Yay.
Studio and gallery banking today but I think I will stay home for awhile. No reason to join the collision collection. And besides, I got more of my favorite coffee. Diane S
No snow here in St Petersburg, but ice and snow at home, leading to a 2 hour late start for school. Another lazy, lazy day. Breakfast poolside, then the rest of the day lounging on the beach. I'm sure I'd tire of this routine eventually, but I'd sure like to test how long that would take. :) Going out to dinner once I get up enough energy to get presentable.
You can get used to hanging around a lot with some mini projects and/or tasks sprinkled in...

Hi, late check in...
OceanDiane, you had a higher temperature today than we did! How weird is that????? We stayed in the 40s all day, which for my area of California is abnormally chilly. It has been snowing on the mountains throughout the Bay Area, but. We live at the base of one of the highest Mounts in the area, so we are looking forward to seeing a lot of snow in the morning. It is forecast to snow as low as our house tonight. I'm not holding my breath!
Also, sorry about the weight freak out. It is normal for me to have upward fluctuations of two to three pounds after majorly strenuous workouts. Give yourself a few days and the repair fluids you are holding on to will finish their work and be released. I know that intellectually and can tell you to be reassured, but I've done the freak out over it, too. One benefit of regain is that I have been able to, over time and with a lot of regular therapy, deal with so much of my weight initiated emotional baggage.
Cecily, welcome almost home! Your trip sure does sound like it was absolutely marvelous. Free Food. #$%*!@#!@!!! I have such issues with Free Food. Once again, I find another tie that binds me to you!
Liz, so glad you are thinking about taking time for yourself and taking care of yourself. Yes, do leave SIL in Massachusetts! Aruba should be for you and you alone!
Diane S. hope you and the dogs are enjoying the slush! Hoping to get a little bit here, too! LOL! Saltines - sneaky *******s! By themselves they hold very little allure for me, but put PB on them and they become a form of crack! Hope Shrinking Nerd is healing and in less pain with each passing day.
BB - I'm guessing the cherry guest room is being converted into nursery bedroom #2 for Nugget v 2.0 (is it Noodle???). Sounds like a clever plan to keep the basic them the same to keep down the costs. As for eating the same foods day in, day out... Hmmmm, yes.... when I am in weight loss mode or successfully maintaining I have basic meals that I use for breakfast and lunch. Doing so takes the thought out of planning meals, calorie and macronutrient counting and tracking, and leaves me with energy for other mental activities. Right now I am having the same smoothie each day for breakfast and I made my lunches for the week last night. Every day for lunch this week I am having a smoked turkey sandwich with avocado and spinach on Ezekiel bread. Dinner needs to be varied or I would go crazy. Tonight it was chicken breast, with a couple ounces baked sweet potato and green beans.
Happy to say that getting serious about the sugar is being rewarded on the scale. the scale reported that my weight is 6.7 pounds less than it was last Wednesday morning. Just gotta keep stringing the days together....
