Yes, small towns rock in exactly those ways. I love my little small town.

I love that I don't have to see my junk mail! Though they are neglecting to forward some other stuff too because it isn't an entire house being forwarded (my son's mail still has to be delivered back at home) - I guess they get confused?

Good afternoon!

It is snowing. First measles, now snow. Let the apocalypse begin.

Liz, having DH interested in frozen meals at least part of the time isn't such a bad thing, me thinks. Simplifies cooking for you and there are a fair amount of healthier frozen meals available these days.

About your SIL and drinking, I don't know. Most people don't reveal their full drinking history to doctor, esp if they drink too much. (I am 100% I would lie about this, too, so no judgement from me.) This is true even if lab work indicates that there MIGHT be an alcohol issue. At the very least, the alcohol questions that are asked at the office would clue her in about what is normal although I hear a lot of denial from patients regarding that. "Two is just getting started in my circle of friends!"

Is this the SIL in a bad marriage? Maybe just indicating how much you value her and her friendship and you would like her to eat more healthy calories cuz you are concerned about weight. (My inlaws lost interest in food as alcohol increased so it might be hard for her to force herself to eat unless it is cookies?)

I need to get a move on --- chicken wings to prepare, house to tidy. DianeO, I started Eat Pray Love today on Audible. Totally enjoying. Thanks for bringing it up. DianeS, I really hope DH starts to feel better. Poor fella.

Hugs to all,

Shel

I agree with Shel, if I were going to address SIL and her consumption, I would talk about the need for quality protein and maintaining or increasing muscle mass etc to avoid the scourge of aging~ falling and breaking things. If she is waiting to finish her drinking after you go to bed Liz, she knows. But you as a post WLS patient can speak with authority on nutrition.

I sometimes feel like I need a weekend to rest up from my weekends! LOL! Another busy two days with not a lot of rest and relaxation going on.

Going to be braggadocios... went to nephew's and his wife's baby shower. Food was a catered taco bar and a dessert table (3 stories/layers tall) that took up an entire corner in the living room. I had meat with cilantro and salsa and a spoonful of rice and bottled water to drink. I touched not a single tortilla or tortilla chip and had not one single taste of the sweets. (My beloved on the other hand... well, he enjoyed it all! It is an envy I have of him being a normie! He can "cheat" and get right back on track at the very next meal! Ah, if were only so for me...)

Down 4.5 since Wednesday. I'll take it.

No Super Bowl here cuz we don't care. Taking the dogs to the vet for booster shots instead. My own little personal Boycott Bowl is a long standing tradition.

It was overcast today, with much atmospheric fog. Beautiful in its own way. We had plans for a rainy day in our back pocket so to speak ~ The Dali Museum. It was surreal. (Sorry, couldn't resist). We enjoyed all of it, although my head was spinning a bit after we exited. Followed up with a walk on the beach, where other walkers appeared and dematerialized into the fog. DH said he was waiting for a pirate ghost ship to glide by. One drink at the beachside bar and some live music, and now we're back in our room to watch the game. Or rather, DH will watch, I'm not a football fan. I follow the Vikings in the same way some people are Catholics but only go to mass on Christmas and Easter. Another lovely day. I'm happy.

DianeS, I'm having a cheese named Humboldt haze. Which, now that I think about it, could be the name of an edible.

Tee Hee. Is the Humboldt Haze a goat cheese? The local goat cheese co has something like that. And for sure an edible. Or smokable. Everything is haze here. We have a ceramic glaze called "purple haze". d
