Good Morning, Drove back up to the farm last night. Puppies in the cab of the farm ute as it was way too hot to be in the back. Im currently watching our heavily pregnant cows munch their way through the house yard area - contained by an electric fence so they dont wander down the driveway and eat our trees.
Expecting another hot one with temps around 110 - South Australia reached close to 115 yesterday. On fire alert and the fire trailer is hooked up ready to go. Planning to just chill inside today with the puppies - work then some cooking with the air conditioner on. DH and I will likely go swimming with the puppies once he gets home from work.
Well I best get myself sorted and go deal with all the overnight emails etc
Shirley
Good lord, woman! That heat is brutal! Yes, stay inside. :)

Greetings Moss Lovers
Cecily, glad the weather cooled down at night and you had a good dinner. Sugarloaf looks fabulous. Can't wait to hear your exploits. Bonnie150 is right - mingle with other "lone" cruisers. I once went with a woman friend and we were seated at a table of singles and mis matched people. It was fun.
Liz I hope the storm has passed and that Justice is calm. Ditto your DH. The meds may indeed be necessary. My mom had lorazepam except crazy Pat wouldn't let her have it. Mean. We have chill pills from the vet for Tesla as fireworks and thunder bother her. I may get one of those thunder shirts as I hear for some dogs they work well.
Shout out to OceanDiane who is probably snowed in and could have internet outage. What did we do before the internet?
Took DH to the surgeon follow up today and someone had screwed up appointment but we got in. He thinks DH is doing fine. Had a blood draw and then went to Costco and FedX.I should get caught up on gallery banking - its a sunny day and a good one to be out and about.
Hey Shel, don't ya just love the moss in the Pac Northwest. Looks like a great hike. There is a big patch on my deck stairs which I need to scrape off and put into some kind of planter.
Countdown to crab. Should be available any day now.
Time for some soup!

I am always stunned at how much of our back yard lawn is really moss rather than grass. DH does a great job of cleaning it all out in spring (if it was up to me it would surely stay moss)

Only one vegetable yesterday! Only one! That's because my dinner last night at the James Beard Award-winning chef's restaurant was paneed veal parmesan, marinara, mozzarella, and spaghetti and lemon icebox crème brulee. FYI, I didn't count the lemon as a veggie. Needless to say, it was an unusual menu choice for me, although it's mostly explained by the fact that my dining companions and I were in Venice together last summer, so pasta AND dessert were instinctive choices. Moving on ...
Our weather today is sunny and cold (38F low, 50F high) and windy. Gloves and scarves were worn this morning. BTW, I have the BEST conversations with other passengers on the streetcar.
French class is becoming even more fun. It's time to say complete sentences. I'm feeling better equipped now that I can say: Je ne sais pas (I don't know) and Je ne comprends pas (I don't understand). I'm still confused, but joyously so. :)
Today's exercise was a lot of walking, including a long walk after French class to visit the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. What a treat! Having paid $11 for a senior-citizen admission, I qualify to return to the museum this evening from 6-8 for "Ogden After Hours," show my ticket from this morning, stroll again through the galleries, sip free ****tails, and listen to an excellent jazz band. However, given my caloric consumption thus far this week I'll be staying home alone and eating leftovers and salad.
Today's theme: Like Alice's mushroom, my NOLA mushroom has two sides, and it's time to eat from the other side.

In honor of Cecily's adventure, I've been having Latino week. Yesterday we went to see On Your Feet, a jukebook musical about Gloria Estefan. The storyline was pretty weak (except the part where she had her accident) but the music, the dancers and the band were hot, hot, hot. About a month ago, my husband and I met a Brazilian woman in Costco. I usually make a beeline for anyone I hear speaking Portuguese in public, and they're always gracious about letting me practice. She invited us to hear a group that sings Samba tonight, so we old people hung out with a bunch of 30 something Brazilians. Another delightful evening, and even though we weren't the kind of dancers who are hot, hot, hot, we still had a good time. And speaking of hot, it is -6 right now, and predicted to bottom out at -24 before the polar vortex recedes. Tomorrow night my bff , who is visiting from Mexico City, and I are going to make a fire, pour some wine and binge Frankie and Grace. Saturday we are having a sleep over at our Argentine friends' house. Viva!
Sounds like some great fun!
