We only got about 17" of snow. We snow blew and shoveled several times and never lost power. The winds picked up last night and moved around some of our neat edges. It is currently six below zero, with wind chill of twenty-one below. We have to limit dogs' time outside to a short out and in. I've done a quick read through of the last few days and know there are posts I want to respond to, but for now... Diane, glad DH is home and hope he slept well on the recliner. Lesa.. glad RLS has abated somewhat. Cecily.. your picture was wonderful and your figure totally worth your skin removal nightmare !! I buy lots of useless things before I travel too ! Ann... I look forward to your travelogue every day, often immersing myself in the pictures you paint !! BB, another glowing photo of you, DH, and Nugget #2 ! Shel... I sooo want to be on those hikes with you, minus the elevations and extra 25+ pounds. Shirl... your yard work makes me envious and exhausted at the same time. PEPS, Miss Bonnie, and DD... enjoy your MLK day off !

"only 17 inches of snow". LOL!
As I marched thru the forest with no snow in sight, I realized that we are fast approaching the end of our snowy season. I think the mountains are behind in snow pack. There has been moisture, but too much in the form of rain.
And then there is you with with 17 inches!

Good Morning!
I have a planned day off today. It is more to get stuff done than it is vacation but that is aok. (Except, that I am currently sitting and contemplating falling to my right where a pillow awaits.)
DianeS, hope you and DH are doing well. Maybe you could buy a walker and just have it available if DH gets in a pickle. And if he doesn't need it, you could return it. (I know, I know....more errands). Gosh, I hope he pees. I am disturbed by the catheter needs in this rather small group.
Cecily, I am SO LOOKING FORWARD to your impressions of a cruise! And, you looked extra fabulous in that picture. Tall and willowy!!!!! DD, enjoy your work-casual no-student day. I feel the same way when I "work" without actually having to talk to patients. (Not that I don't love them all...or at least most....). Shirl, I keep expecting to see you finish a post with "and then I collapsed into a heap of sweat" but no....you have hours more left of work in you!
My weekend of running back and forth to Tacoma went AOK. The honors orchestra concert was terrific. Maybe next year I will start going to the Seattle symphony since I will no longer be attending school functions. (Oh, BB....you are going to be AMAZED by Nugget and Noodle!).
I was able to keep up with my weekend training even with the running around. I felt much less fatigued yesterday then I did a week prior -- there is a definite pattern of misery after increasing weight and then feeling better (but only marginally faster) a week later.
Overall, I feel that have lost fitness in the last several weeks. The daily schedule is pretty much the same week to week but adding extra weight keeps everything feeling just as hard (and inadequate) as it was on week one.
I keep forgetting that I used to hike blissfuly free of extra added weight. In 2 weeks, after a rest week, the Sunday hike is "no added weight." That should be a better gauge.
Until then, I'll keep trudging along with an extra 30 lbs. By the end of Feb, I want to be lugging around an extra 40 lbs and then will just hold there for the duration. On Saturday, a guy going up Cable Trail (a classic Rainier training trail) commented "if we aren't feeling miserable, we aren't training" as he passed me. Lordy, carrying around extra weight is hard....no wonder I had slowed to a snail's pace with an extra 200lb pre-vsg. Let me never forget that how hard being overweight/obese is.....
Ok, I think coffee is finally kicking in, let's get 'er done!
Shel

Shel, you can't possibly know how impressed I am by what you're doing. And by Cecily's work with her trainer, and Devon's monster workouts -- Devon, you're a BEAST (in the best possible way)!
And my respect goes out to everybody else who's recovering from surgery or helping spouses recover from surgery or growing a baby in their body or shoveling snow and fuel pellets or plowing 500 hectares down in Australia or building furniture or trying to pee (or not pee) or looking for the courage to take down a Christmas tree you haven't had the courage yet to tell us is still up.
And down here I'm about to take a post-lunch nap before investigating the French Quarter.
Zzzzz ....

"...looking for the courage to take down a Christmas tree you haven't had the courage yet to tell us is still up."
LOL! that was us yesterday! Though I was not embarrassed! Literally, I was simply too tired and unmotivated to take down all the decorations once we cam back from Palm Springs and immediately started school. Of course, we did take down the outside lights as we didn't want the neighbors talking. LOL! After grooming dogs and church, we cleaned up all the Christmas Throw Up (as Aunty Kathryn calls it), put it in the appropriate boxes, made new labels for the boxes and today the boxes all will go up in the rafters!
I love that it was Ann's reply to me that mentioned the Christmas tree because that is EXACTLY what is glaring at me from the living room!
And, our neighbors can see it in the edge of a window, even without its lights on. I am sure my one neighbor in particular is appalled but his wife fully supportive of my time investment into training vs housework.
