Bonnie150, I'm rooting for the Chiefs, too, of course. I dunno what in the world I'll do if the Superbowl winds up with Chiefs v. Saints. Chances are, however, that the Patriots (whom I also don't care for -- InflateGate still grates) will triumph. I definitely give Brady and that team props for pulling it out of the fire so very many times.

Who dat?!

I wouldn't count on the Patriots this year. They have struggled quite a bit.

Greetings Friends

154.5 today. I had a couple of glasses of wine last night and dinner was a few crackers. At the hospital I had eaten some of those horrid old orange cheese crackers stuffed with peanut butter. Remember those? It was either that or a candy bar.

So DH had to have a catheter this morning as he couldn't pee. Jeez. And they are filling him full of fluid. Dr. came by and said he can go home here in a short while. So I will go collect him. They mainly want him to not feel dizzy and not fall down. BP has stabilized. So I will wander down there shortly.

Yay Ann, Rocky Horror! I remember toast, cards, and all the chanting. "Don't Dream It, Be It" was my skiing theme song. And Meatloaf all around! I used to play that disc in the car all the time. Enjoy and take costume pics.

Well I had better go get DH. Cheers to all. Diane S

I hope you get DH home uneventfully and you both can relax there.

Well update, all. Thanks for the kind wishes. DH is still in the hospital.. I went there today thinking I would bring him home. But while his BP was pretty normal he was exhausted and lightheaded and could barely stand up long enough to pee. He was shy about asking for pain meds. I was not. So he dozed some. The surgeon called and agreed he should stay. I had told DH and the staff that if he came home and fell down, he would be camping on the floor and I would have to pitch a tent and open a can of beans because I would not be able to get him up. He didn't sleep well there and probably won't tonight. I feel bad for him but feel he is safest there. I had the car all fixed to bring him. He needs to pee more and they cathed him this morning which he did not like. I did not tell him the stories of others here.

Hey Peps, I am drinking wine from my Wine Country KC glass. Its pouring rain and I am grateful to be home and warm and well. Diane S

Oh, Diane ... I so understand how it feels to be worried about the big tough guy in your life. I hope your guy continues to strengthen. And to pee more.

I offer only one bit of advice: Get a walker for him to use when he comes home. It's such a steadying tool. It doesn't mean he's crippled, and it's not a permanent fixture. But it offers so much stability, confidence and independence while the patient is healing, especially when going to and from the bathroom frequently.

I have a great one in Missouri that's just the right size for a big guy and wish I could loan it to you.

So sorry for DH's disappointment but staying until he is ready is the right thing as you know. I hope you sleep well before getting him home!

Had a lovely day today! Two of my friends and I went to San Clemente and walked the beach to the pier and had lunch, then stopped at the outlets. Columbia (the outdoorwear store) is having a 60% off sale right now. Lots of winter clothes there, but lots of great any weather hiking/outdoor pants too. I got 5 pairs of pants, a fleece pullover and a hat for $145 plus they gave me a $25 gift card for spending over $125. A deal!! I got two pairs of shorts there yesterday normally $45 a piece for $15.95 each. Then we went to Starbucks and I got a cookie as big as my head. Delish. Lordy, I look tall next to the two of them. I told them I need to stand in the middle and crouch next time...

Now it's getting to crunch time. The packing must commence if I'm going to avoid the inevitable anxiety that comes with me leaving these things until the last day.
