Had a great time walking the interior system at the VA ! Lots of long ramps up and down, connecting buildings underground. It is such a massive system, I only ran into the same group once. There's lots of access to the first floors of the buildings and exits outside, so it wasn't claustrophobic at all. I felt very safe, but after decades of numbing myself with fat, knowing that a sexual attack on a morbidly obese woman was unlikely, I have rethought my vulnerability and always try to be more aware of my surroundings and have an exit plan. Kind of like Shel needing a goat plan and Shirl needing a snake plan ! Cecily, are you safe from the mud ? We were at Joshua Tree less than a month after the October storms and resulting floods and the damage/destruction from those mud flows was still catastrophic.

Good morning!
The big news is that DD's asthma doc won't clear her for scuba -- he doesn't clear anyone that has a component of exercise/cold asthma flares. DD has those routinely when running cross country so it wasn't even close. DH didn't cancel the trip.
Peps, funny how the brain is full of false information and so ready to share it every single moment of the day. What a jerk to have within us, we would never hang with a person like that.
I don't know, yet, if I am personally motivated to do the specific self-help advised by David Goggin in his book (first recommended by DianeO). I am only part way into the book. But, at the very least, it is the story of extraordinary resilience including David (more than once) having to whip himself into shape and losing weight. On Audible, it is **** laced counter argument to my whiney inner voice.
Hope you all enjoy the day,
Shel

Shel, once again ... what's the name of the book DianeO recommended that you're reading?

It almost hurts to listen to.....I'm like MAKE IT STOP!
He is the epitome of JFDI. Except with more F's. He understands backsliding to the Fing beginning and needing to restart.
He has techniques he used to help him along the way and the book is as much about passing those along as it is his personal story. He doesn't necessarily think he is special (tho he clearly is)

Weight 121.6, calories 1217. We had a nice walk on the harbor yesterday and had late afternoon drinks outside with Justice (see picture below). He was the best behaved of all the doggies there!
Speaking of exit plans, DH has calmed down a LOT now that he is on the lowest dose of Namenda. He will be done with it after Friday. He has been wandering a lot at night still, so I'm not sure that is related, but the hook and eye lock at the top of the door is working so far. I happened to be awake when he tried to open our door last night. He tried to open it gently and when it didn't open he just turned away.
I might make my vegetarian chili today - I have a hankering for it as it is somewhat cool here right now especially at night.
Have a transformative Tuesday!

Sooo glad that DH's medicine downward titration has produced the changes you'd hoped for! And I know you're even more tickled. :)

Shel-I'm a bad asthmatic and tried just the very beginning (like 5 ft. of water) scuba training once. for me, having to labor to breathe/pull in air like scuba requires felt like an asthma attack, which in turn flares up my asthma (the anxiety). Of course as soon as the instructor heard I was asthmatic, he was like "nope." That's okay. I like to snorkel
Peps I know what you mean about sometimes feeling "meh" about my weight goal.
I'm really hankering to travel and Ann and Liz are not helping that situation!! MIL hinted about us coming to visit. It wasn't so subtle! She showed us the toys she'd picked up for Becca for when she's visiting. So I think Orlando is in our near future. But I really want to go to BIL's beach house!! A friend's 40th bday party is in Vegas in April. Contemplating how much fun I'll have at 8 months pregnant. I generally have fun and can have fun not drinking, but I'm feeling a little moody about the idea of being at a Vegas pool and looking like a beached whale :/ Been awhile since I've had that particular feeling and I don't like it one bit. Since Becca was born in March, I felt decently back to normal by summertime. Lastly contemplating Sedona as a babymoon of sorts. For some reason I don't feel as threatened by the idea of a pool in Sedona. I guess there's just a totally different vibe than in Vegas.
Last night i talked to a friend in West L.A. who had left his law firm early yesterday to lay sandbags around sections of his house. I lived in L.A. 20 years, and I remember mudslide season. Californians do NOT want to experience earthquake season, fire season, and rainy season in a small time frame. Arrrrghhh!
