Weight 122.2, calories 881. I ate on plan for the most part yesterday. We went to a local fish restaurant last night that was quite good. Very clean, but not much atmosphere which meant the prices were low. A lot of the fish is fried, but they have basa, red fish, or grouper grilled, blackened, sautéed or fried. All are local fish. I had basa, DH had red fish, and our friend had grouper. All were excellent! The basa is a very soft mild white fish, red fish is a little darker and fairly firm and grouper is in the middle.
Today SIL arrives, which we are looking forward to. I have to drive a friend to the airport then pick up SIL 2 hours later so I'll just poke around in the shops for a couple of hours (in ***** Gorda). One of my favorite second hand shops is there.
Have a super Sunday!

I definitely have a Cape Horn story to share, after Cecily is back from her South American cruise. Weather in the teens and twenties here and we're expecting the mid-west snow this coming weekend. I am torn between flying someplace warm soon, rather than waiting for SS to come out of mothballs at the end of March. I think I need a desert home with an RV pad. Winter weather without sun just drains me. Spending more time in my sunlight lamp, but it just isn't the same. Oldest DD is interviewing several places on the east coast. Her husband, industrial physicist, defends his PhD in May, and they are trying to find locations that will suit both of them.
Thought for the day.... Lean into the hand you were dealt, and bluff if you have to ! Conduct yourself as if you have a winning hand, and it will be !!

As you know, sun is critical for my mood. I dread when DH can't travel anymore and I can't get away easily.

David Goggin's story is riveting! I'm listening to the Audible version and the narrator interviews David in between chapters. Amazing story. I can hardly stand all the pain and adversity of just listening to it --- I can't imagine living it.

Football season is starting to get serious. Big games yesterday, big games today. :)
Last night, after two nights on the town and a busy day, I stayed home, sautéed some more delicious drum fish, and got some good rest. Cecily, I scored nine servings of veggies and fruits, and here's the list: a satsuma (small seedless orange/tangerine), arugula (2 cups), cucumber (1 small), cherry tomatoes (12), avocado (half), more arugula (2 cups), more cherry tomatoes (another dozen), another small cucumber, medium Honeycrisp apple.
Yesterday I walked in the park morning and mid-afternoon met my friends at the local movie theatre for "On the Basis of Sex," which I enjoyed immensely. As a woman who was 24 years old in 1970 (the time of the movie's dramatic arc), I was affected deeply by the film!
This Sunday morning I'm back home after the big Sunday Family Breakfast with friends and the cousins and a solo walk in the park (cold this morning!). I'm about to go pick up my friend and her visiting niece and go to the Jazz Museum for live music and Mardi Gras marchers/dancers. After that is the big Saints v. Eagles playoff game and football party at my friends' home (I'm wearing my new "Who Dat!" sweatshirt) where Uptown's best pizza will be served (God, help me!).
Life is not sucking. ;)
Today's theme is: Who Dat!

Greetings Sun Lovers
Our sun is out today and we are glad for it. I walked the dog yesterday and actually got too warm. I love a sunny day that is not hot. Guess its my Swiss heritage.
154.5 today. Slept well and feel good. Dinner last night was more canadian bacon. I need to do like Ann and work on the F and V.
Liz the fish place sounds great. So many good choices. I should take more advantage of our local fish though this place is sort of fished out. Crab season starts in a week - over a month later than it used to. Salmon season is pretty short too and the albacore is in the summer. Growing up in the midwest the only fish we had was fish sticks - always served on Fridays at school cafeteria.
We are not too in to the pro football playoffs but may have to check in.
Yep DianeO, you need a sunny place to take SS. Why not go to Arizona in the winter? Guess DC needs to finish his recovery. Hope that's going well. Ditto Ron, Peps.
Well next week DH gets his ultra sound and maybe we find out if he needs gall bladder surgery or not. Hernia is still scheduled for Friday but we don't know if that is going to happen. I must get a preparations list going to time everything.
Not much else going on. I'll get another dog walk in and hopefully throw out some junk. My idea of a good time. Diane S
Good Morning All - back after a busy weekend but a good one. Friday night I collected DH and SIL from the train at 9.50pm. Saturday DH and I collected a garden shed which we will use for our city chooks when we are up here - yes they will be crated in the UTE along with the dogs when we come up for extended periods. Just have to get the electric mesh fence sorted to keep the foxes at bay and we will be good to go. Looked at a block for DSS and her partner - in a word RUGGED. 100 acres on side of a hill and mostly covered in rocks. Way overpriced for what the vendor is asking. It was worth a look but not sure its worth it. DH has the same opinion.
Have helped SIL treat 2 of my other SIL calves that have pink eye. Poor little things - so we have been over 2-3 times a day to help work them through the yards so we can put antibotics in there eyes
Saturday night we had SIL over for dinner - did make your own pizzas and it was delicious. Sunday we pottered around - I watered as its been super hot and DH continued working on the hay shed. Then we went and picked 24 kilos of cherries from DH cousins farm. Last night was spent making the first of many batches of Jam. My aunt gave us plums -lots of plums - so we made 15 jars of plum and apple jam. Plus cut up 3 kg of cherries for another batch of Cherry Sauce - that will be tonights chore. Then it will be Cherry Jam, stewed cherries and bottled cherries. Plus another batch of Plum and Raspeberry Jam. Busy evenings :)
Heading into town when I finish to sort out registration renewal on my MG - they need to stamp permit in person. then will meet DH after work and grab a few things. Then home
I will come back and read what everyone has been up too soon.
:)
