Weight 122, calories 847. Another fairly good eating routine yesterday. Plus I have had two nights of really solid sleep as DH's restlessness seems to be decreased with the lower Namenda dose.
I didn't get my entire list completed yesterday as I would have had to stay at the tire dealer for several hours because they had 2 before me. But I did decide what to purchase and have an appointment at 10 this morning. I may start doing the chalkboard paint on my backsplash today too. I'm excited to see if I end up liking it. I'm working on a "portfolio" of pictures of the place here so I can condense them but give a feel for it. Not that there's a lot to see - it is all of 1200 square feet (sans lanai and garage)!
An airfryer... Should I succumb to the temptation to purchase it or quell my desires? DH loves sweet potato fries which we have been doing in the oven to make them healthier. I love fish and would like to be able to have them "fried", but not. Maybe an early birthday present from DH to me (my birthday is in mid March)????
Anyway, have a safe Saturday!

Liz, I'm glad to hear Paul seems less perturbed and you got some good sleep. Progress!
Yesterday morning's yoga class was described as "mellow," and boy, was it! I have never, ever done an hour and a half of yoga without ever getting up off the mat. It was just what the doctor ordered--a calming, centering beginning to a day I'd feared was going to be tough.
BTW, I walk to yoga class (20 minutes each way) through pretty neighborhoods and past a wonderful grocery store two blocks from my apartment. Whole Paycheck (Whole Foods) is only eight blocks away, so I live in the antithesis of a food desert.
Because my return to Missouri for eye surgery has been delayed at least two weeks and because I didn't bring any "fancy clothes" with me this first time down (I was saving those for the return trip), yesterday I went to a clothing consignment boutique and for $42 bought a couple of lovely blouses and a pair of slacks to supplement my "going out to dinner" wardrobe. Then I went for an afternoon stroll in the park.
Last night's dinner out with friends was lovely. I drank only half a ****tail and half a glass of wine, ordered a salad and a plate of mushroom risotto, and brought home half of the risotto. We shared a single order of dessert. I'm happy with how that went. :)
By the way, my water intake sucks lately. I'll get on that.
The weekend agenda includes veggie, fruit and fish shopping at farmers' markets, a trip to the French Quarter for beignets/café au laits with the niece who's visiting from Tibet, a little laundry, a lot of walking, and the Saints v. Eagles football game Sunday afternoon (the game's being played here in NOLA, but our crowd is watching it on TV). That reminds me ... today I've got to buy a Saints shirt to wave the Who Dat flag. :)
And next week French classes start! :)
Today's oldie-goldie theme is: Be here now.

Liz... you definitely want the air fryer ! A quick buttermilk dip and some whole wheat Panko turn any protein or vegetable into heaven. I even bake cornbread in mine ! I have to admit, I do oven bake fresh sweet potato fries in the oven first, as I prefer them really crispy. I did break down and get a bread machine. We only eat whole/multi grain bread and pizza dough... really hard to find good quality. Bread can be a slippery slope for me, so I'll have to keep a handle on it.
Having to use the downstairs shower has an up side. All of our exercise machines and equipment are down stairs, as is the laundry room. It is so handy to work up a good sweat, strip down, and hop in the shower. God knows we have enough bathrobes and product to leave a set of everything down there long term. Who knew what a motivator proximity is.
Cecily, I cruised from Rio to Santiago Chile for Christmas and early January about ten years ago ! It was one of my favorite cruises, and such variable weather.... Snow in the Falkland's and very hot at the beginning and end of the fourteen days. It was supposed to be ten days, but we had to duck into a fiord and wait out a bad storm as we came around the cape.
Off to reorganize my countertops and pantry, to make space for bread machine !!

I have a bread machine from years ago which I still haven't given up but I haven't used it since WLS. I am just too fond of homemade bread to feel safe (it is one of my strongest cravings). Maybe someday we can coexist safely...

BTW, Diane ... would you please tell me EXACTLY how you make sweet potato fries in the oven? I just bought some lovely sweet potatoes this morning at a Farmers' Market and would love to make some of those fries.
Thanks!

I spritz them with olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika. 12ish minutes at 350, flip them over with spatula, and 12 ish more. I then put in air fryer to finish up, so if oven alone you'd need a bit more time.

Gosh I've been absent a couple days. Not sure the last time I posted. But I think Dr.'s weight was 173.4. Oddly they put down 172. I think they always notch it down a couple (or maybe this was the heavier scale). Do other people think this way??!!
Liz-I've wondered about the air fryer too. I want it. Don't think I need it. And it's huge. My sister got one for Christmas but has enjoyed putting so much into it. Right now I'm not sure if I have the energy to learn how to use another gadget. But we definitely like fried foods in this family; we're in Oklahoma for goodness sake!
Ann-sorry about the delay in your surgery, but glad you decided to go ahead down to NOLA anyway, even I that means some extra shopping to do! Never a totally bad thing.
Diane O.-I can see the advantage to having to go downstairs to shower (for exercise!). The first few months of marriage we were having our master bath remodeled and I had to use the upstairs bath. Now I go up there every day because Nugget is there, but would not always otherwise.
Woo it's been a difficult couple of days. Becca came down with a stomach bug, I guess. I think I told you we found her covered in vomit on Tuesday morning. I went ahead and took her to babysitter, thinking maybe it was what she ate night before. I think I maybe had to get her early. But essentially Tuesday and Wednesday she'd vomit back up anything I gave her until Wednesday night we started giving her Pedialyte. I had my ob appt Weds and the babysitter luckily watched her, but I was home with her Weds and Thurs. So after 24 hrs. of mostly just Pedialyte, I gave her formula yesterday morning and she seemed so good and healthy. I took her back to babysitter where I crossed the threshold and sure enough she vomited very dramatically. Soaked herself, her carseat, yucko. You have no idea how much laundry I've done. But I guess I give you this gory story because maybe I'm just being sensitive but I get the feeling that the babysitter thinks I'm just pawning my daughter off on her while she's sick. So hard! I can't keep missing work, plus it'd been nearly 72 hours at that point! And pediatrician told me not to come in (what can they do?!). But yeah, it probably did look pretty bad when the past two times I've dropped her off she's vomited within 5 min.
Luckily Becca has been holding down everything again for 24hrs. And DH and I were able to go out last night and the grandparents watched Becca. We've had these plans for nearly 6 months!! One of our friends bought a charity thing that included PHantom of the opera. She just asked that we pay a small price to help her buy the charity raffle. Boy was it worth it! I've seen Phantom before, but this time we were on the 10th row--WOW!! Yep, those seats are better. Any seat is better than none, though. And it turns out, dinner was included! Fancy steakhouse with that appetizer they always feature but you wonder who affords it. I did have to practice presence, though. I continually kept "checking in," asking myself what I saw, felt, heard, etc. Otherwise my mind runs rampant with so much to do.
Off to pick up Becca from my parent's. Then we have some groceries to pick up, and hopefully some more organizing to do. While I've been home, I've been on a kick of going through old towels and sheets and getting rid of things. Why do we keep the crap. Boy isn't that true of so much more than just towels and sheets?! #outwiththecrap
