Weight 122.8, calories 1003.
Today we are going to the beach and meeting DH's cousins there. He can sleep relatively late so hopefully he will be in a good frame of mind. Yesterday he wasn't too bad other than pacing in the late afternoon. And he did get out of bed and futz around at some point in the middle of the night because some things were moved in the closet. But not as bad as other nights. I am setting the alarm on the front door, putting a lock on our bedroom door and shutting the breaker for the garage door (the back entrance out of our place) before I go to bed. So I don't think he can escape without me knowing.
Granite is being installed tomorrow after which I am done with major tweaks to the place here. I will post pictures of it later this week.
Have a thoughtful Tuesday!

Freezing rain yesterday limited my outdoor activities. Luckily both appointments were local. PCP scheduled routine fasting bloodwork and overdue Mamo. He was pleased with my burn, and switched me from an antibiotic cream to a silver sulfur cream to promote healing as the infection has resolved. He said I'll have quite a scar, and should consider plastic surgery. I start an eight week live online class for caregivers of PTSD Vets today. From the outlines I've read, it sounds a lot like the CODA (Codependents Anonymous) model. I could benefit from a booster shot in maintaining my personal goals and focus while supporting DC, which was reinforced by Devon's comments about Ron's mood. I was so proud of PEPS for following through on his personal plan, although Ron was pouty and grumpy. It is so easy to be dragged down by significant others, and to let their needs become more important than your own. Sometimes, their needs do need to take precedence, but everything comes down to balance. I need to be better at identifying signs earlier on, and enhancing my intervention repertoire to help me control my response.
Yes, I classified linen closet organization as play/leisure ! Did it because it made me happy and relaxed both while doing it, and after.

Your comments about caretaking definitely resonate with me. Sometimes it is hard not to get dragged down.

Yep, been MIA for a bit- wish I could say because I've been trying to figure this newly reorganized internal system out, but, no. I have, for the most part, tossed responsibility to the wayside, being weary of playing a game where the rules are constantly changed without notification.
Back to square one. Recognize what is bedrock truth- (need to hydrate and get requisite protein in as well as extensive daily walking and daily poos). This is my game board.- the goal is to get around the board- I win if my game avatar shapes up and becomes increasingly competent as she moves around the board.
The game piece-me- (I've always liked and chosen the Monopoly shoe) is currently stumbling and bumbling - not making much progress at all. As a matter of fact, in frustration, I feel like I have taken myself off the board (those damn rules that daily reshuffle and change). Rational- I no longer know how to play the game, so I've thrown all rules out and have satisfied my self with moment to moment attempts at comfort - all of which has made my body, mind, soul worse for it all..
Current status-
Yesterday Kurt and I logged 3 miles and I met my 100+ oz. of liquids. I also began to wean off the slider carbs. They have become my food of choice because I can eat them without feeling uncomfortable or feeling bad (I cannot always say the same about solid food- it is a crap shoot each time). However, they do me no good nutritionally, I obviously do not need the calories, and have become a self medicating focus- not good.
Today I am focusing on moving forward a step, relying on the bedrock truths that can no longer be tossed out (movement, hydration, protein, poos) with the rest of the crazy card rules.
Still, in all, it's good whether or if I have not acted well within it or not, It's always good to wake up to new opportunity and choice. A chance to grow.

Greetings Marvelous Ones
155 today. I ate two cookies and some peanuts last night plus an extra glass of wine. Those little dabs seem to be enough to make me gain weight. That and being so sedentary. 15 feet away from me is a treadmill. I was thinking of doing a dog walk today but its raining, cold and windy.
The dog came home fine from the dental work. Had one tooth pulled. He is doing well for a 12 year old but is getting a bit stout. He has some evidence of something called root resorption which is some kind of funky thing with roots. Just something to watch. People get it too as do cats.
I made chicken soup for the football game. My guest came but spent most of the time messing with her computer. She brings it so DH will help her with it but ended up just fussing the whole time. I dozed through part of the game but it was fun to see the last of college football for the year. Dog with the sore tooth got chicken soup too.
DH is at the lab getting a blood draw and urine test. He was in pain the other night and now has discolored pee. I fear a kidney stone - not needed with upcoming surgery. I am encouraging him to eat less junk food.
Peps glad you had such a good show experience in the trailer. Easy to envy the giant rigs until you have to park one and pay for the gas. Sorry Ron sulked but good for you for not letting it spoil things. Yay for Ace.
Studio duty today and a trip to the bank.
Liz glad you had a peaceful night. Good luck with the granite. Pics please.
Shirley you are so busy busy! Sounds glorious to have a farm. And Ann, we want more NOLA adventures. Ditto Shel.
Time for more coffee. Tried a new kind. Organic Bali or something. Cheers. Diane S
Poor DH can't get a break! I sure hope it isn't kidney stones.

Good Morning from our little patch of dirt. I drove back up to the farm last night - arrived just on dark. So good to be out of the rat race again. Went to sleep listening to the frogs last night and woke to sound of our cows welcoming me this am (or was it bellowing for food ha ha ha) Lovely mist over the valley - so pretty. See pics
Today Im planning to work then pop into town to grab a few things. I have mangoes to cut up and freeze and my aunt gave us jam plums so jam is in my future. May wait till DH comes up on Friday as 2 sets of hands are always better than one especially given we do everything in bulk.Nice to share with the family. Thinking Plum and Raspberry for a change. Must go and see if I can get some more cherry seconds to stew up and pop in the freezer. Love love love summer fruits.
Yesterdays apt with Gyn came with a recommendation for IUD as a fix for the main part of the issues I have been having. I have had 3 x DVT and PE so I want to do some extensive research before agreeing. Apparently I will be in menopause fully within next 2 or so years and they last 5 years so would be a one time fix. Secondly have a referral to a Urologist to see if they can help too. Who knew loosing all this weight would cause issues. I looked to it as the best thing I did for my health. Still do
Liz - I hope all the modifications allow you to have a better sleep during the night. Looking forward to seeing your new benchtops
Diane - Glad you are healing well. Your comments about PTSD hit home with me too - DH suffers from it after 29 years in and time served overseas. Some days are just plain hard for those who are significate to them. The speed of the mood changes and ferociousness sometimes leave you reeling. You learn over time strategies to cope and I always try to discuss it when the situation has diffused - though often DH cant give me any reason as to why its occured - thats perhaps the hardest part of all
Bonnie - Good to see you back x Well done on stepping back on the board and let us help you make it the finish line. Plenty of non judgement and understanding ears here - including one all the way over in Australia :)
Diane - Glad your Pup came through surgery ok and would have loved chicken soup. Dont they say its good for the soul :) Hope nothing too serious with DH
Waving to everyone who hasnt made it here yet - Its time for my second cup of tea and hunker down to get some work done
Have a nice afternoon/evening all
Shirley
Love the pix, Shirl. It's good to see what your property looks like. Thanks for posting. :)
