After waking up at 2:00 am yesterday morning, my first Saturday in NOLA was busy. At 6:30 am, my girlfriend picked me up and we drove down to the French Quarter to get a ticket for admission to a nine o'clock estate sale at a gorgeous 6,000 square foot home on Bourbon Street (where the owner was murdered by his lover). There we rendezvoused with one of her many cousins (the cousin's wife is a friend of the antique dealer was working at the sale) and went to a nearby Farmers Market for fresh fish (drum and crab) and gorgeous veggies (cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, etc.), then out for a second breakfast (cinnamon-raisin scone), then back to the estate sale where I bought wine glasses and some beautiful black leather gloves and had fun conversations with all kinds of folks at the sale.

Then we drove back Uptown to put away groceries and walked around Audubon Park where we met a good friend + dog who introduced us to some of her friends and their dogs. As my girlfriend said: "This is why it takes so long to get anything done in New Orleans -- you keep running into people you know."

Midday I came home, made a gorgeous salad (with all those veggies) and rested a bit. Mid-afternoon I walked to the Uptown high street, got house keys made, bought some skincare and makeup products, found some "new" sunglasses at a lovely consignment clothing boutique (I lost my good sunglasses yesterday morning somewhere in the estate sale), bought some shrimp at Whole Foods, stopped at a beautiful Israeli restaurant to enjoy a dry martini at the bar with an entertaining bartender and a lovely mother-daughter pair from Chicago (mom was bringing daughter to Tulane for next semester), then walked home, cooked and ate the shrimp with a little stuffed eggplant casserole, had an apple and some cheese for desser****ched Netflix, went to bed to pass out and sleep for 9.5 hours!

While I was sleeping last night, my friends and all their cousins in ballgowns and tails were eating dinner downtown at Antoine's, marching in the streets with a band, and dancing into the wee hours. At 8:00 am this morning I'll meet up with all of them for breakfast.

And that schedule is why everyone in NOLA is NOT fat! LOL!

Today's theme is provided by you-know-who: "Life's a banquet and most poor fools are starving to death!"

Though I am jealous at how carefree this all sounds, so great that you are enjoying NOLA!

133 OTD. Thought I might be the early bird and start the thread for once, but alas I am #3 to the party.

Super busy as usual these days. Trying to run a household single handedly, raise 3 boys (men), work part-time and have a love life is time consuming!

Yesterday started at 4:15 am when I needed to get up early and get DS#2 to the airport for his trip to Europe. He was supposed to leave New Year's day but his passport was printed wrong (First name listed for first and last name on passport) so he misses out on 5 days of his vacation. I got a text that he landed in Frankfurt around 10:30 (WI time) last night. He was then going to take a train to Amsterdam and meet up with his friends that were able to depart as scheduled on NYD. After getting him off to the airport, I attended DS#3's powerlifting meet. Over 10 hours of mostly sitting on wood gymnasium bleacher seats. He did well, placed third in his division for his weight class. The kid is massive and sooooo strong! He should be getting his driver's license in about 1 1/2 weeks! DS#1 is still scheduled to move out 2/1/19 though he has not found a place yet!

Things with Kevin are still going well. The kids seem to be coming around a little bit as far as accepting our relationship. Baby steps as they say!

For some reason OH does not come up as a secure site with my security software and now I can't get any pics and have to go through a lot just to get on the site...boo hiss! If I access the site on my phone I still get pics but I usually do it from my home computer.

Ann, your NOLA trip sounds fabulous! I need a trip! Too bad I am still saving up my PTO for plastics.

Plastics? What are you doing?

I'm glad things seem to be going well if not completely smoothly!

Guessing weight is still about 173

I too am missing Peps and excited to hear about his travels!

Ann-now I want to be in NOLA! I've been there a couple times, but both more party times, Mardi Gras and Halloween (for a wedding!). But they have architecture, fantastic food, and so much more!

Paula-life is busy! But that's part of Ann's buffet! I'm so excited for your new love! I was at concert last night and thinking about new love and how exhilarating (if scary) it is. DS 2 trip sounds so fun. Clearly I have a travel bug!

Yesterday was a very productive day! I made breakfast for DH and Becca, while she napped we took decorations off the tree. We then took DSS to lunch and he helped take down the monstrous 13.5 ft tree, pull up the ground lights outside, and take boxes upstairs. I still need to pack up the kitchen box (but it's all gathered), and a random/bathroom box, and take down the village, but otherwise it's all done! And soon will ALL be done!

DSD came to watch Becca and DH and I went out to dinner and Beatles symphony. I mentioned that I have been super into food recently. Well, at least the idea of food. but it's all so good in my head that it's not terribly satisfying once I actually eat it! I got veal parmigiana last night and it was tough (?!), greasy, just not great. Boo

Today I would like to put away the remaining boxes quickly so we can mentally and physically relax the remainder of the weekend!

Too bad on the veal parm - a good one can be heavenly.

Oh I know!! I was really excited about it too :( Unfortunately if there's one thing Oklahoma does NOT do well, it's Italian food. But there is a new restaurant opening near my house that promises Northern Italian and it's owned by the same people who run the (very nice) steakhouse adjacent. So here's hoping. I keep forgetting--did you say you're in ft Lauderdale? When we go visit family we always have very good success with Italian food there! Enough NY transplants, I suppose.

We are in Port Charlotte (opposite coast). But we have LOTS of Italian places here too. I think us older folks think of it as good quality "comfort" food?
