There are a lot of rattlesnakes in the more wild spots here. A friend told me never to be third in a line of hikers on a single track. The first one wakes them up, the second makes them mad, and the third gets bitten!

I think your wire whacking is a sound idea!

Oh that would be awful - my thing with them is - leave me alone n the puppies n I will do the same - that means dont come near the house or yard!

Im yet to use the wire (would like it to be longer) - but DH isnt here to sort them so I need to step up if needed. Had to at previous farm - gets the adrenelin going

Greetings from NOLA. Got here in the early afternoon, met the landlady (she's nice and knows a lot of my friends in the neighborhood. Unloaded everything in 30 minutes and have nested. Have been to the local wonderful grocery store (2 blocks away) and gotten enough stuff for a few days. Will do some serious grocery lay-ins tomorrow. Stopped by the local wine store -- gorgeous stuff, nothing like what's available in my Ozarks town.

My place is super cute. 1400 square feet -- a long "shotgun" design in a two-story four-plex. Haven't met the neighbors yet.

Tomorrow morning I'll take a long walk in Audubon Park, see my friends and explore the neighborhood.

Right now, music is playing on my little speakers. BTW, my internet connection is real "city internet" and a helluva lot faster than what I have at home (satellite internet), so I'm very happy with that.

I feel very content tonight. Will have a lovely grilled chicken over greens salad dinner. Drinking my glass of wine right now and feeling about as blissed out as it's possible to be.

Today's theme: I'm grateful for having started this adventure!

;)

Sounds idyllic. I've only been to NOLA once, but was fascinated by it's unique and deeply profound culture. Enjoy, and may the good times roll!

Sounds perfect and spacious! Our place in Florida is only 1200 square feet for 3 of us.

I have some long range goals/intentions percolating right now. But for rest of this week (through Sunday) I am going to focus on two small, measurable activities that will start the journey to the bigger intentions.

  1. I will do my Tai Chi routine every day for the remainder of the week. 1/5 completed.
  2. I will return to my sugar abstinence. I will not count sugar in Chobani yogurt, or condiments like ketchup as "sugar". I will not eat candy, jelly, jam, baked goods, syrups, honey etc. for the remainder of the week. 1/5 completed.

My students and I survived our first day back after break. We all agreed how quickly we can switch over to a different sleeping schedule, and I had a lot of sleepy kids today. Hoping we all have a good night's sleep.

Weight??

I woke up to my friend calling to see if I wanted to hike this morning. She was leaving in 5 minutes. Ack! I have a morning routine! I need coffee, my meds, an hour of staring unseeing at my iPad! Ferg needs to eat and potty! I'm not dressed and my hair is a fright from rolling around on the pillow all night! But I did it. Threw some food at Fergie, let him potty out back, threw on clothes and sunscreen, swallowed pills sans coffee, forgot my phone and tissues (my nose runs like crazy when I hike. Exercise rhinitis), but I made it and had a great hike! 77 flights of stairs-worth of hills in 5.5 miles.

This afternoon I had the trainer and I had a good day there without wimping out too much on weights. Saw the cute trainer who still goes out of his way to say hello and goodbye to me in his yummy South African accent... A good day all around.

In lieu of resolutions, I'm just trying to do something active each day if it's possible. Tomorrow I have a short, but hard hike up a very steep mini-mountain with a different friend.

So that's my day. Not doing too bad on food the last two days. I ate all the bad stuff, so I'm left with healthy choices.

Wow! Good for you getting moving like that. I may have lists, but they always include my morning slug time (coffee, Justice, iPad).
