Weight 121.6, calories 686. Two more sleeps in the cold north.

I am tired. DH was wandering the house in the middle of the night and I had to redirect him to bed. The previous night DS has to retrieve him from outside. He has been especially nasty/mean the last few days (prior to Alzheimer's, he never was). Possibly it is the Namenda that he is now in the third week of taking. Or it could be the disruption in schedule because of the holidays. Regardless, I need locks/alarms on the doors now.

Yesterday I drove 1.5 hours each way to our former hometown area where we lived for 35 years. DH was a zombie in the morning getting ready, but we had a good visit with DD, a close friend of DH, and with DH's one remaining uncle.

Today we have 3 appointments and some other miscellaneous items on my list to be taken care of in preparation for leaving Friday. Time to drink more coffee and get moving.

Have a winning Wednesday!

  1. Within Range: yes

  4. Fitness: walking; power cleaning
  5. Self-Care: 90 minute massage today

Our basement contains a full bath, sleeping nook, library area, Reiki corner, exercise area, laundry room, storage room, and family room. I rocked cleaning downstairs today, throwing out a lot of crap. We developed mildew issues in late summer, even with a dehumidifier but the pellet stove keeps things dry fall and winter. We had a great game playing session with friends yesterday and managed to send most left overs home with them !

Good for you having such a productive day! A thorough house cleaning is needed here, but it isn't happening before I leave. I told DS to hire a housekeeper before I get back in the spring (at least to do one complete cleaning).

I hear you on the cleanup needed. I've just about had it with my house being so out of order. Christmas decorations take up so much more space/clutter, and then you unwrap presents and they have no homes yet=big mess. I want to start dechristmasing, but it's such a job and kind of unrewarding. I'd like to find some "winter" decor that isn't Christmas. And I found some, and to me it isn't Christmassy (because to me, Christmas means bright red sparkly, gold, etc.) but I think even the white and silver cones and birch and deer might look like I forgot to put up Christmas to some. It's just as much as I want to declutter my house, after all the frills of Christmas, it looks so bare!

Today trying to be more present starts at work. I've had so much distraction recently. I don't want to be medicated for it (and don't know that I need to be?) but I'm definitely a multi-tasker at the least, and I know it's causing me to be unable to finish even the smallest projects.

I made ham and bean soup yesterday but DH doesn't care too much for beans, so tonight while he's at a poker night, I'll take the leftover beans and baby over to some very excited grandparents!

Good morning, all!

It is amazing how sluggish-almost-achey I feel sometimes in the morning. Then I do my assigned training (today was core) and I feel so different 60 minutes later.

It was hard to choose what article to read this morning in the NYT's: the one on how hold a more healthy grudge (intriguing! Especially for someone who claims not to hold grudges yet has the memory of an elephant of every slight) or, the one on a 30 day challenge.

Honestly, I'm not one for 30 days of emails sent to me do do specific tasks. Their 4 key words are move, nourish, refresh, connect. I have move and nourish down, but probably could use the others in my life. One example included mindfully enjoying chocolate. Well....chocolate.....I'm in.

So, I signed up and today's assignment is to write down why I signed up. I feel unbalanced, that's why. I want to refresh and connect.

I did quite a bit of house stuff yesterday. I also had a surprise msg from REI that they had a spot open up to snowshoe on Mt Rainier this weekend. Snowshoeing doesn't seem to be in full swing in my easily assessable mtns. Mt Rainier is far enough away that I have zero desire to drive there and back by myself. So, I signed up.

Shirl, I am in awe of your ability to cook for so many. I also love that community of yours.

Enjoy the day!

Shel

Greetings 2019ers

Another year on the books. And it was a doozy. We watched the Cotton Bowl (or whatever bowl) last night in the super dome and I thought of Ann lurking about NOLA. Have fun girlfriend!

154 today. Not cool. I did buy and make and eat popcorn yesterday. One stove top batch. It was good but I seem to be over it. I didn't make more. Yesterday I just wanted to eat and eat which I attribute to insufficient protein. If I do one thing this year it should be to increase protein. Maybe I could track just protein for starters. Might be a plan.

SP glad you are feeling more optimistic and walking even with cane. Baby steps for all of us.

Diamond D, your lunch sounds fabulous. Honey crisp apples indeed! We still have leftover beef barley soup which is great but one gets sick of the same meal after three days. Tonight will be the last of it and any left overs go to the dogs.

Yeah Liz, sounds like door alarms are in order. Sorry you have to deal with this on top of everything else. Travel safe to Florida where I hope you can go into full time relaxation mode.

Hey BB, lets all try to remember that our homes are places for us to inhabit and enjoy, not to be our masters for us to slave over. Guess I have reached the age and stage of life where I don't care if stuff is messy. But I know I will be frantic if my younger brother ever decides to come visit as he is Mr. House Beautiful.

OceanDiane good on you for tossing stuff from the basement. Wish we had a basement. Yep mildew is hard to avoid. Its one reason few people have basements out here.

Various chores and errands today. Payroll, banking, year end sales tax reports and a quick doctor apt. Maybe a venture to Walmart since I will be in the big town. I hate the place but they have a few things I can't get elsewhere. Since everything is sort of hippy dippy around here its like walking into a different planet.

So Shel you are off to snowshoe on Ranier?! Good for you and get some pictures. Like you I wake up feeling tired and achey. But you do something about it. I drink coffee and kvetch. I am kvetcher in chief.

Well time to face the day. But not without more coffee. Cheers. Diane S

Good Morning All :) Just in from an hour of mowing and watering - best part of having no neighbours is I can do this at 6am before the heat starts. Had our first brown snake around the house yesterday - so puppies spent the afternoon inside. Cant believe how fast they move when they want too and I had nothing to defend myself so didnt follow it. Lawn out back is now cut very short so we have better visability. DH didnt put the slasher on the tractor before he left so I am doing it with the ride on - takes longer but we get there. Feeling acomplished. My DS is taking me to dinner so Im looking forward to that. I have a challenge of teaching myself how to back the fire trailer up to the fill point at the dam to refill it. Lets just say my backing skills are not my strong point but no doubt persistance will get me there. Another hot one today with temps over 100. Tommorrow is going to be a shocker so will need to get trees etc watered. Still no weight but I can tell I have gained. Im hopeful with more work around here and reigning in the holiday eating I will start to sort out the gain. Will weigh next Monday when I am back at our city house.

I havent had a chance to read everyone posts as yesterday was crazy busy at work. Over 400 emails to deal with and Im still going. On the plus side - day went fast.

Liz - Hope you get everything you need to achieved today without issues. I think alarms sound like a great idea. Feel for you

Diane - well done on the big clean out. I always feel such a sense of achievement when I can get things done like that

BB- Be kind to yourself re the christmas decorations being taken down. You sound like you are super busy

Shel - You are amazing with all your training. Enjoy snowshoeing :) Aww re the cooking. I am blessed that DH's family all bring stuff - so we just pop it on a table and everyone serves themselves. We are lucky and eat very well. That being said I am really enjoying the peace of just having my eldest son and I here and the 3 puppies of course. Swimming after work and just serenity.

Diane - Hope you enjoy Walmart :) And get lots achieved

Ann - have a ball in NOLA

Cec - Thanks for the welcome back :)

And a big wave and bundle of aussie sunshine to everyone

Will be back later to try and catch up on posts......

Yikes, snakes! Your heat sounds like here in the summer... so nice to have the break of spring and winter to help forget for a few months!

I love the heat as long as its dry n not humid. Just work around being inside during the hottest part of the day

The snakes I certainly dont love. They are super quick and very aggressive. Just have to be watchful. I carry a long piece of wire with me when Im wandering around - come too close snake and you will get whacked......

Enjoy your evening :)
